The gas station at the corner of Route 59 and Renwick Road will be replaced with a new facility. The Citgo gas station and convenience store at 15809 South Route 59 has been several different franchises over the years and predates much of the commercial and residential development on the south end of town. The business was closed for a few years before Vequity, LLC began operating it in 2016. The 43,800 square-foot lot has a small store at the center of a 178-foot canopy that covers eight fuel islands and a car wash at the back of the lot. Materials submitted to the Village of Plainfield indicate the store would be replaced with a 3,500-square foot 7-Eleven where the car wash is now. A new 122-foot canopy would be erected over six fuel islands with 12 pumps installed in front of the store which would face Route 59. Though the building will not be set back enough from the edge of the property to meet current zoning requirements, the existing car wash building does not either. The village board unanimously approved the variance and
