Joliet central announces 2022 mr. and ms. J Joliet Central High School seniors Rachel Dunne and Alexander Medina were named 2022 Mr. and Ms. J at a banquet held on April 20 at the Jacob Henry Mansion. Mr. and Ms. J, the tradition of selecting two high school seniors who best represent the ideal students of Joliet Township High School (now Central Campus), began in 1958. “The selection of Mr. and Ms. J starts with seniors who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above,” said sponsor Dina Zmuda. “Then, the 10 Mr. J and Ms. J finalists are selected by faculty based on school involvement, community service and demonstration of the JTHS character attributes. Finalists are interviewed by a panel of community members and staff whose scores determine who receives the prestigious title of Mr. and Ms. J and the first and second runners up.” Ms. J first runners up are Nicole Aguirre, Maddalynn Butler, and Amelia Hromek. Finalists are Caroline Baltz, Scarlett Chavez, Lillian Luangsomkham, Madison Miedona, Nawal Odeh, and Cassandra Pina
Mr. J first runners up are Zander Cremer and Erik Palmerin. Finalists are Jaime Barbosa-Ochoa, Ruben Franchini, Aidan Morales, Victor Munoz, Jacob Slattery, Keegan Srebro, and Joshua Walsh. Rachel Dunne, 2022 Ms. J, served as Captain of the Poms and Dance Teams. She is also the Editor and Chief of the Yearbook, and is a member of Buddies Unite, Fans of Steel, Orchesis, Steelmen Athletic Leadership Team, and has served as a Student Ambassador. Rachel was inducted into the National Honor Society, French National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and Rho Kappa. She is an Illinois State Scholar and has received the President Volunteer Service Award, and Kiwanis Club Student of the Month. Rachel will attend Joliet Junior College to begin studying to be an Orthopedic Physician who specializes in dancers. Alexander Medina, 2022 Mr. J, participates in Student Council, Fans of Steel, Key Club, and is a Student Ambassador. Alexander will attend Northern Illinois University to major in Biological Sciences to become a veterinarian.

denise maiolo confirmed as Will county Human Resources director County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant has appointed Denise Maiolo as Director of the Will County Human Resources Department. Maiolo’s appointment was confirmed today by the Will County Board. “I am happy to welcome Denise to Will County. She brings years of leadership experience in human resources,” said BertinoTarrant. “Denise’s background in local government policies will be a great value to our workforce.” Maiolo previously served as the Human Resources Director for two large communities, including the Village of Orland Park, where she oversaw full cycle recruitment, compensation, and benefits management for over 700 employees. Before that, she worked at the Village of Tinley Park for 14 years, where she was promoted to Hu-
man Resources Director after serving as Deputy Director and Human Resources Assistant. Her leadership experience in large organizations also includes serving as Program Director for the Riviera Country Club & Sports Center, and Vice President of Templeton & Associates. “I am proud to join Will County and to support the important work of the Human Resources Department,” said Maiolo. “I look forward to working with leadership and staff to find opportunities for innovation in our policies and procedures.” Maiolo earned a Juris Doctorate from The John Marshall Law School and a Bachelor of Arts from DePaul University. She is a member of the Society of Human Resource Management and the South Suburban Chapter Human Resource Association.
