Celebration of Life for George Edward (Ed) Seidel, Sr.
Born July 9, 1943 to Margaret Bryan and George LeRoy Seidel in Rockford, Illinois. Ed passed away in Harbor Hospice Hospital, Houston, Texas on December 11, 2022 after a long, hard-fought illness. He was preceded in death by both his parents and his sister, Sue DeVenny.
He is survived by his spouse, Ulla Jean (Nester), their two sons, George Edward, Jr., and Brian Michael (Jessica), brother Mike (Heather) as well as his sister, Anita. He was the proud grandfather of three: Jamie Renee, Joshua Thomas and Regina (Gieni) Ellen. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
Ed Seidel was a one-of-a-kind guy. He was not only known for his great sense of humor, but also his compassion and kindness to others. He loved to explore new countries, music, dancing, magic, medicine, people and places in general. In his youth, he had accomplished the rank of Eagle Scout of which he was very proud. After graduating from high school in Kewanee, IL, Ed became a proud veteran of the United States Navy. Collectively, Ed had a 43-year nursing career in various capacities ultimately resulting in
the position of nursing home surveyor supervisor for the State of Illinois. By his great kindness and knowledge, he was well known as a patient-advocate.
In his spare time, Ed’s passion was to be involved with fireworks shows as a licensed pyrotechnician. He loved doing this and the people he worked alongside. Watching the overhead burst of colors and hearing the audience cheering was music to his ears.
Ed also loved his community of Romeoville, IL. He was heavily involved with and served as President of the Citizens Police Academy Alumni of Romeoville (CPAAR), for which he was well-known and respected. He also belonged to the American Legion in Romeoville, IL.
Please join us and CPAAR in celebrating and honoring Ed Seidel’s extraordinary life.
