Roadhouse Village OKs patio for new restaurant By Sherri Dauskurdas Staff Reporter

L

ongtime Shorewood restaurant Louie’s Chophouse has been closed for nearly a year now, as owners revamp and renovate the facility into a brand new eatery. Louie’s has traded in its fine white linen for family fun, and will be reborn as Skooter’s Roadhouse, a country and TexMex themed spot complete with a mechanical bull. Shorewood trustees last week approved plans for the restaurant site allowing for $3,500-square feet of outdoor seating, lighting and new landscaping at its 700 West Jefferson St. location. Owners said the patio will be used for dining and outdoor entertainment and would seat up to 172 people. Concerns over noise from the outdoor offerings were quelled by Mayor Chapman, who

indicated any noise complaints would result in cancellation of outdoor events at Skooter’s. Citing lessened demand for a steakhouse in the area, General Manager George Gelis said the restaurant will now be more family friendly, featuring combinations of Southern/ Country barbecue and American. Items such as barbequed ribs, Southern fried chicken and pulled pork will grace the menu, as will burgers, salads, sandwiches and appetizers. Owners are hopeful the restaurant will re-open next month. Rumors of country line dancing could not be confirmed, but Gelis encouraged residents to check out the restaurant’s website and Facebook page for updates. The Louie’s Chophouse location at 4642 W. 103rd Street in Oak Lawn remains open. Skooter’s owners also operate Jameson’s Pub locations in the area.
