42: The Jackie Robinson Story / When we think about fall, so many things come to mind … the changing of the leaves, harvest time, and, for many, baseball. That’s right, playoffs are about to start and the World Series will be here before we know it. So for all of you fans out there, I have a movie that knocks it right out of the park – 42: The Jackie Robinson Story. Taking viewers on an incredible journey back in time to 1947, this sports biopic transports us to Jackie Robinson’s rookie season with the Brooklyn Dodgers. Gripping from start to finish, this film showcases Jackie’s courage and character as he faced overwhelming racism both on the field and off; ultimately changing hearts and the face of baseball forever. Grab the popcorn (or peanuts and crackerjacks) and enjoy! -- Kim The Walk / Richard Paul Evans This book is part of a great series that I discovered while browsing our fiction section. It’s great because each book (there are 5 total) is short, it’s a quick read and it’s a very moving story with a great cast of characters. The story opens with Alan Christoffersen who experiences a horrible tragedy that causes him to lose everything. With no place to call home and no job to go to, he decides to go for a walk...to Key West Florida. He lives in Washington State. This is an unforgettable story about his travels, the people he meets and the lessons he learns along the way. What he experiences will save his life and it will inspire everyone who reads it. This story is filled with hope and reminds us that there is good in the world especially during hard times. I hope you’ll check this one out for your next weekend read. Enjoy! -- Megan
