TODAY’S MATCHUP
Bloomsburg will try to keep its momentum rolling, seeking an 8-0 start for the third straight year. The Huskies had perhaps their toughest test of the season to this point last week, holding off upset-minded East Stroudsburg, 52-38, on the road last Saturday. After opening the game with a 14-0 lead, the Warriors tied the game at 38-38 midway through the fourth quarter before a key interception by Jonathan Patrick and rushing touchdowns from Franklyn Quiteh and Tim Kelly iced the game for the Huskies. Quiteh established a new school record with 304 yards rushing and four touchdowns.
Cheyney enters the game still searching for its first victory after an 0-7 start to the year, including a 30-12 loss at Millersville last week. Cheyney ranks 15th of 16 teams in the PSAC in offense at 12.7 points per game while allowing 37.1 points to its opponents. Though the Wolves have given up 37.1 points per game, they rank sixth in the PSAC in total yardage allowed, surrendering 353.1 yards COACHING per game. THE HEAD COACHES
Paul Darragh takes over the role of interim head coach this season after serving 16 years on the Bloomsburg coaching staff as defensive coordinator. Under Darragh’s leadership, the Huskies’ defense has ranked in the top half of the PSAC in total defense in seven of the past 11 seasons. Darragh has started his tenure as head coach with a 7-0 record, the best start to a tenure of any coach in Bloomsburg history. Ken Lockard is in his second season leading the Wolves after serving as interim head coach last year. He previously had worked as Cheyney’s defensive coordinator since 2008 where he coached four All-PSAC players on the defensive side of the ball. He spent two seasons at Lehigh University as an outside linebacker coach and was the offensive line coach and run game coordinator at Santa Barbara City College (Ca.) during the 2005 season. Lockhard was a Patriot League Academic Honor Roll recipient during his undergrad days at Bucknell University.
LAST YEAR’S MEETING
Cheyney gave Bloomsburg a fight on its home field at O’Shields-Stevenson Stadium last year before the Huskies pulled away late for a 27-13 victory. The game was tied 7-7 at halftime and the Wolves had a chance to tie late in the third quarter before a missed extra point attempt left them down 14-13 with 4:38 left in the third period. Franklyn Quiteh scored on a four-yard touchdown run and Tim Kelly tossed for another touchdown late in the fourth to secure the win, the 23rd straight for the Huskies over Cheyney. Marcus Jones had 78 yards rushing and a touchdown to lead the Cheyney offense.

ONE OF THE NATION’S BEST The Huskies have been one of the most successful programs in not only the PSAC and the region but the nation over the past decade-plus. Since the beginning of the 2000 season, only three Division II teams have more victories than Bloomsburg - the Huskies are tied for fourth with Tuskegee (AL) with 128 wins and are fifth in winning percentage at .800.

NATIONAL RECOGNITION The Huskies remained No. 6 in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Top 25 announced Monday. On Tuesday, the Huskies moved up two spots to No. 7 in the latest edition of the D2Football.com national Top 25. The Huskies also began the season ranked in multiple other national polls. Lindy’s Football Annual tabbed BU at No. 10 in Division II while The Sporting News listed the Huskies at No. 17 in the country. MORE RECORDS FALL TO QUITEH Franklyn Quiteh had yet another day for the record books in Week 7 at East Stroudsburg, setting a new school record for rushing yards in a single game with 304. That broke the old record of 300 set by Jerry Marks vs. Mansfield in 1991. He had 28 carries, averaging 10.9 yards per rush and had eight carries of 15 or more yards. It was also his 11th game of over 200 yards rushing. Quiteh set the record wearing jersey No. 8 to honor the memory of friend and Pocono Mountain West high school teammate Jon Mangual who was killed in a 2008 automobile accident and is buried just outside ESU’s EilerMartin Stadium. The performance allowed Quiteh to shatter a national record in the process - it was his 38th game of over 100 yards rushing in his career. Quiteh now has more 100 yard games than any other player in Division II history - the previous record of 37 was held by Danny Woodhead (Chadron St., 2004-07) and Xavier Omon (Northwest Mo. St., 2004-07). GREAT EIGHT With his fourth straight season of over 1,000 yards rushing, Franklyn Quiteh has joined an elite group of only eight players in NCAA Division II history to eclipse the 1,000-yard mark four times. He joins Joique Bell, Wayne State (MI), 2006-09; Danny Woodhead, Chadron St., 2004-07; Chris Washington, Concord-St. Paul, 2000-03; Damian Beane, Shepherd, 199699; Jarrett Anderson, Truman, 1993-96; Jeremy Monroe, Michigan Tech, 1990-93 and Johnny Bailey, Texas A&M-Kingsville, 1986-89 as the only players to accomplish the feat. QUITEH, SHIRK NAMED AOWs Franklyn Quiteh and Justin Shirk were named PSAC East athletes of the week on Sunday after their showings at ESU in Week 7. Quiteh ran for 304 yards with four touchdowns to take East offensive honors while Shirk, who shared the defensive weekly award with Shippensburg’s Dainen Green, made 13 tackles with a seasonhigh two sacks from his middle linebacker position. HUSKIES TO APPEAR ON NATIONAL TV Bloomsburg’s game vs. Shippensburg at Redman Stadium on Halloween Night will air live on the CBS Sports Network at 8:00 p.m. The Huskies will be looking to avenge two losses vs. Ship last year. DUO ON SENIOR BOWL WATCH LIST Bloomsburg seniors Brian Clarke and Larry Webster have received spots on the 2014 Senior Bowl Watch List. The watch list includes more than 400 student athletes from nearly every level of college football. These are the players who are looking to fill the 110 roster spots that form the North and South squads for the nation’s premier all-star game. Rosters will be announced in January with the game held on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014 in Mobile, Ala., and televised on the NFL Network. HUSKIES IN ELITE COMPANY With their 52-38 win at East Stroudsburg in Week 7, the Huskies have won seven or more games in 15 consecutive seasons. Only five schools in the divisions of the NCAA have longer streaks: Florida, Florida State and Virginia Tech in the FBS; NW Missouri in Division II; and Mt. Union in Division III. The 15-year streak is also a PSAC record, breaking IUP’s mark of 13 set from 1984-1996. BLOOMSBURG FOOTBALL GAME NOTES
MAKING HISTORY
Senior running back Franklyn Quiteh is re-writing the PSAC record books this season by setting the conference’s all-time record for most career rushing yards. Quiteh broke the record with an eight-yard carry in the fourth quarter at Edinboro in Week 2 as part of a 231-yard performance. Quiteh is currently the leading active rusher in all NCAA divisions (FBS, FCS, II, III) - by a wide margin. His career total is over 1,000 yards more than his closest follower, Melikke Van Alstyne of Division III’s Framingham State (5,385). Quiteh also is the NCAA active leader in rushing yards per game (160.3), all-purpose yards (7,081), rushing touchdowns (77) and total TDs (80). Quiteh has rushed for over 100 yards in 38 of 42 career games and 23 of the past 24.
-He is 1,228 yards away from the DII record of 7,962 held by Danny Woodhead of Chadron State, 2004-07. -His 38 100-yard games is the all-time DII record. -He enters the Cheyney game with 922 rushing attempts, just 21 away from the all-time PSAC record of 943 (Gerald Thompson, Edinboro, 1995-98). Last week he passed Shippensburg alum and current Green Bay Packer John Kuhn’s 910 carries from 2001-04. -Quiteh also stands six rushing touchdowns away from the all-time PSAC mark of 83 held by Bloomsburg product Jamar Brittingham. With his 21-yard field goal at Kutztown on Sept. 21, Danny Fisher broke the all-time conference record for career 3-pointers, connecting on his 51st with the Huskies. The previous mark had been held by Ed Detwiler of ESU for over two decades. Fisher captured the career kicking points record the previous week at Edinboro. He currently leads all Division II active players in field goals and is seventh among active players in all divisions. Among active leaders in total points in Division II, Franklyn Quiteh leads all players with 480 and Fisher ranks fourth at 333.

KELLY’S SEASON-BEST DAY Quarterback Tim Kelly threw for a season-high 238 yards while completing 17 of 22 pass attempts with one touchdown through the air and one on the ground in the Week 7 win at ESU. Kelly’s rushing touchdown came on a bootleg that resulted in a career-long 41 yard scamper down the sidelines. Entering the Cheyney game, Kelly leads the PSAC in passing efficiency at 168.4 – he’s completed 75 of 118 attempts for 1,097 yards and 12 touchdowns with four interceptions in his second season as the starter. MAKE YOURSELF AT HOME The trip the Huskies made to East Stroudsburg in Week 7 was a homecoming for Franklyn Quiteh who played his high school ball at nearby Pocono Mountain West. Quiteh has felt right at home when playing ESU the past four seasons, racking up 956 career yards in four games vs. the Warriors including his two highest rushing totals – 282 yards last season and 304 yards this year. The all-time record for yards rushing by one player against a single opponent is 1,052 set by Ian Smart by LIU Post vs. Bentley – however that total included five games. GOING BACK FOR SECONDS Bloomsburg has outscored its opposition in all four quarters this season, but has dominated opponents in the second quarter. The Huskies have not always burst out of the gate, watching opponents score first three times. By the second quarter, though, BU fires on all cylinders, outscoring opponents by a 111-31 margin during the second period. RUN, HUSKIES, RUN Bloomsburg has established a new school record, rushing for more than 350 yards in a game five times this year. The Huskies broke the record of four set by the 2004 team last week when Bloomsburg finished with 389 yards on the ground at East Stroudsburg. BU also rushed for over 350 yards vs. Stonehill (457), Lock Haven (409), Edinboro (383) and Gannon (351). For the season, the Huskies average 348.0 yards per game on the ground. The school record is 315.8 set last year.

For the year, Bloomsburg averages 507.4 yards per game, good for fourth in the PSAC. The team is currently on a record pace – the school record for team yardage per game is 484.0 set during the 1996 season. RUN THE BALL, STOP THE RUN The Huskies have become one of the most successful programs in the PSAC thanks in large part to a physical style and ability to control at the point of attack. This has been evident so far through seven games this year

LARRY THE SACK KING Senior defensive end Larry Webster picked up a half sack last week at East Stroudsburg, pushing him to 9.0 sacks for the year. He ranks second in the PSAC behind Shippensburg’s Jake Metz, who has 10 sacks, and is tied sixth in the nation in sacks per game (1.3). PUTTING UP THE POINTS The Huskies are 106-3 when scoring 40 points all-time following their 52-38 win at East Stroudsburg in Week 7. Bloomsburg has tallied 40 or more points in five of its first seven games this season - the all-time school record is seven games of 40+ points set three times (2005, 2007, 2012). SECONDARY MAKING NOISE Bloomsburg picked up two key interceptions in the victory at East Stroudsburg in Week 7. First, cornerback DJ Robinson ended ESU quarterback Matt Soltes’ streak of 211 attempts without an interception when he picked off a Soltes pass in the third quarter. Jonathan Patrick then sent the Huskies toward victory with his fourthquarter interception of Soltes with Bloomsburg holding a seven-point edge. BU now ranks second in the PSAC with 11 interceptions behind only IUP (13). Patrick, Robinson and Tomas Cabrera lead the team with three interceptions apiece while Tyler Knoblauch also has two. FISHER ON MITCHELL AWARD HONOREE LIST Danny Fisher was named to the Fred Mitchell Award honoree list for the month of September for his work on the field and in the community. Fisher kicked five of six field goal attempts and finished the month with 37 total points. Away from the field, he raised over $3,500 for the Angelman Syndrome Foundation through his ‘Kick for a Cure’ initiative. For each field goal and extra point he kicks this season, he will donate money to the ASF toward raising awareness and work on a cure for Angelman Syndrome, a neuro-genetic disorder with no cure requiring lifelong care for symptoms including developmental delay, lack of speech, seizures and walking and balance disorders. Fisher developed Kick for a Cure to help a close family friend who suffers from the disease.

BLOOMSBURG FOOTBALL GAME NOTES
CONVERTING ON THIRD DOWN Bloomsburg has converted 51.2 percent (42 of 82) of its third down situations this year, the best mark in the PSAC. West Chester stands second by converting 47.6 percent (40 of 84) of its third downs. WORKING QUICK Though Bloomsburg is known for its bruising running attack, the Huskies have been able to score quickly as often as any team in the PSAC this season. So far on the year, Bloomsburg has tallied 46 scoring drives – of those scoring drives, 29 have taken just 2:59 or less including 18 scoring drives of under two minutes. TURNING RED INTO POINTS When in the red zone this season, the Huskies have not squandered scoring opportunities. Through the first seven games of the year, Bloomsburg has scored in 28 of its 30 trips to the red zone, good for a 93.3 percent success rate. The Huskies have punched into the end zone 21 out of their 30 red zone trips. The only two times BU has not scored in the red zone was while running out the clock at the end of the game vs. Stonehill and at Gannon. DEFENSE STEALS THE SHOW When Bloomsburg traveled to PSAC West foe Gannon in Week 5, many figured it would be a shootout with both teams entering the game averaging 40 points per game through the first four weeks. The Huskies defense stifled Gannon, limiting the Golden Knights to seasonlows in rushing yards (72), total yards (276) and points (14).
missing the first four weeks of the year due to an injury suffered in pre-season. Lowery made two tackles on the day as the Huskies worked him back into the defensive rotation. The Sharon Hill native was a strong contributor as a freshman last fall, making 21 tackles with 0.5 sacks and a fumble recovery in his Huskies debut. THEY KEEP THE HOME FIRES BURNING The 2013 season is the 40th in the history of Redman Stadium. In 2012 Bloomsburg was 5-0 at home, the 10th year the team has been undefeated. The Huskies all-time record in Redman Stadium is now 137-66-4. STARTING OFF RIGHT With the Huskies win over Lock Haven in Week 4, interim head coach Paul Darragh became the first coach in Bloomsburg history to begin his tenure at the helm of the program with a 4-0 record. Jack Yohe (1952), Thornley Booth (1926) and George Harry (1909) previously started 3-0 but all lost their fourth games. PUTTING IN EARLY WORK Franklyn Quiteh put up 123 yards during the first half of the Week 7 win at ESU on the way to 304 yards on the day, the most in a single game in BU history. The performance put Quiteh over 100 yards rushing before halftime for the 16th time in his career – his best-ever first half showing is his 186-yard first half total in a win at Millersville on Sept. 25, 2010. The all-time PSAC leading rusher also now has 11 games of over 200 yards rushing following his school-record day at ESU on Oct. 19.

QUITEH 6K With 205 yards rushing against Lock Haven, Franklyn Quiteh became the first player in PSAC history to rush for 6,000 yards in a career. He finished the day with 6,116 yards and is now one of 13 players in Division II history to reach the milestone. IT’S OLD HAT Danny Fisher has kicked at least one field goal in 29 games, stretching out his own school record. He broke the record with two field goals in the seasonopening win vs. Stonehill, breaking the previous mark of 24 set by Jon Koenig from 2006-09. He enters the Cheyney game with 54 career 3-pointers. LIGHTING UP THE SCOREBOARD The Week 4 offensive output by the Husky offense was one to remember, posting 56 points against Lock Haven. It marked the first time Bloomsburg’s offense hit the 50-point total since scoring 55 in a win at West Chester on Oct. 22, 2011 when it rallied from 35 points down to tally the biggest rally in Division II history. The last time Bloomsburg scored more than 56 points was in a 61-35 win vs. Kutztown on Nov. 6, 2010. GETTING OFF ON THE RIGHT FOOT Redshirt freshman Andrew Harris made a strong first impression during Bloomsburg’s season-opening win over Stonehill, debuting with the Huskies by leading the team in tackles with eight along with a tackle for loss and pass breakup. Harris earned the start in Week One as a late addition to the lineup at the will linebacker position. In Week Two, Harris backed up Garrett Pope, but continued to make waves. He quickly established a new career-high in tackles with 11 including 1.5 tackles for loss. After seven games, Harris ranks second on the team in tackles with 48, behind only team captain middle linebacker Justin Shirk (62). WAGNER HANDLES THE PUNTING One of two true freshmen on the active roster to start the season, Will Wagner has taken over the Huskies’ punt duties. The native of Wernersville has impressed in his first seven games, averaging 38.6 yards per punt in 24 attempts. He booted a new career long of 59 yards at Kutztown, one of three punts of 50-plus yards, and has pinned the opposition inside the 20 10 times. HUTTON’S TRIPLE PLAY Glenn Hutton Jr. made his three receptions vs. Lock Haven count, taking all of them in for touchdowns. He caught three balls on the day for 67 yards and touchdown grabs of 33, 25 and nine yards respectively. The showing not only was a careerbest for the senior receiver, but also the first time a Huskies player has hauled in three touchdowns in a game since Kyle Fisher accomplished the feat vs. LIU Post on Sept. 22, 2012.

CONTINUING THE TRADITION While there is new leadership for the Huskies on the sidelines this season under interim head coach Paul Darragh, much has remained the same with the BU attack. Under former head coach Danny Hale, the Huskies made their name with a power running game. During Hale’s tenure, 23 separate players put up at least one game of 100 or more yards rushing. Following Joe Parsnik’s 101-yard performance vs. Lock Haven, Darragh already has three 100 yard rushers with Parsnik, Franklyn Quiteh and Dai’Shon Munger.

PARSNIK HAS CAREER DAY Redshirt freshman Joe Parsnik rushed for a career-high 101 yards on 14 carries vs. Lock Haven in Week 4. Parsnik has given the Huskies a third option out of the backfield this season, averaging 6.0 yards per carry with 320 yards through six games. He picked up a career-high 18 carries vs. Millersville in Week 6. GOING THE DISTANCE The Huskies sealed their victory at Kutztown with a back-breaking 98-yard touchdown drive in seven plays, capped by a 7-yard pass from Tim Kelly to Tony Peregrin. The scoring drive gave BU a 24-6 lead early in the fourth quarter and marks the longest scoring drive for Bloomsburg this season. The drive featured a 65-yard run from Franklyn Quiteh, also the longest play from scrimmage this year from the Huskies. The impressive drive was the first scoring drive by the Huskies of 90 yards or longer since doing so in a win over Gannon on Sept. 29, 2012 and the longest scoring drive since going 99 yards in nine plays in a 38-18 win vs. Shippensburg on Oct. 15, 2011. COLORING RECORD BOOK MAROON & GOLD Franklyn Quiteh has plenty of BU company atop the PSAC rushing list. Now that Quiteh owns the career conference rushing record, the Huskies occupy three out of the top four all-time PSAC rushing spots - Quiteh, Jamar Brittingham (5,689 yards from 2004-07, second) and Irv Singler (5,105 from 1994-97, fourth). HUSKIES START NEW FACES When Bloomsburg took the field for the season opener vs. Stonehill, eight first-time starters were in the Huskies lineup. Ryan Geiger started at left guard and Dakota Hoagland was at right tackle. Connor Gades got the start at wide receiver and Jack Sandherr was the other offensive newcomer at tight end. Defensively, Larry Webster transitioned to a starting role at defensive end, Shawn Mitchell was at defensive tackle, Andrew Harris at will linebacker and Dylan Spangler at the buck linebacker. All of the offensive newcomers are redshirt sophomores as is Harris while Webster is a graduate student and Mitchell and Spangler are both redshirt juniors. Three more players made their first career start the following week at Edinboro when redshirt sophomore Garrett Pope started at the will linebacker and fellow redshirt sophomores Will Ridgeway and Donovan Morris got the starts at defensive tackle and safety respectively. QUITEH EARNS PSAC HONORS Bloomsburg University senior running back Franklyn Quiteh earned co-PSAC East Offensive Athlete of the Week honors following his 251-yard performance in the Huskies’ win at Gannon on Oct. 5. The leading active rusher among all NCAA divisions carried 24 times for 251 yards and two touchdowns – averaging 10.5 yards per rush including a long of 61 yards. A 16-yard reception gave him 267 all purpose yards on the afternoon. Sharing the Eastern Division offensive honors this week is East Stroudsburg quarterback Matt Soltes, who threw for 444 yards and four touchdowns in a win over Clarion. WEBSTER WINS DEFENSIVE AOW Larry Webster earned PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week honors following Week 3 after scoring four sacks at Kutztown. The tally marked a new career-high for Webster, beating his previous best of three sacks set at Slippery Rock last season. Along with the four sacks, he also had five tackles, a pass breakup and an additional quarterback hurry while the sacks totaled a loss of 28 yards for the Kutztown offense.

CABRERA, QUITEH SWEEP PSAC EAST WEEKLY AWARDS The Huskies swept the PSAC Eastern Division Athlete of the Week awards in Week 2 with Franklyn Quiteh earning offensive honors and Tomas Cabrera snagging the defensive accolades. Quiteh’s selection was a near no-brainer after leading the conference with 231 rushing yards along with three touchdowns at Edinboro while establishing a new conference career rushing record. Cabrera earned his award by registering eight tackles to go along with a fumble recovery and interception, both in key situations, to help lead the Huskies to a 47-35 victory on the road. UNWELCOME GUESTS Chances are Edinboro won’t soon forget its meeting with visiting Bloomsburg in Week 2. Not only did Franklyn Quiteh rush for 231 yards to break the PSAC career rushing record that afternoon, but the effort spearheaded Bloomsburg’s 383 yards of rushing. The 383 yards surrendered on the ground by the Fighting Scots were the third-most ever by any Edinboro opponent. CABRERA MAKES AN IMPACT Junior safety Tomas Cabrera is new to the Huskies, but isn’t without college experience. Cabrera comes to Bloomsburg after transferring from Division I Temple. At Temple, Cabrera played primarily on special teams. He was one of five true freshmen to see action for the Owls in 2010, forcing two fumbles, and also played in six games in 2011. Cabrera joined the Huskies this spring and immediately made a big play in his first game – a momentum-changing interception vs. Stonehill. With the Skyhawks looking to tie or take the lead in Huskies territory late in the first quarter, Cabrera made a diving interception at his own 16 to end the threat. Bloomsburg would score a touchdown on its next possession and never relinquished control. DII’S FINEST During preseason, D2Football.com unveiled its top 100 players in all of NCAA Division II. The Huskies were extremely well represented in that poll, placing three players in the top 11 and five in the top 100 – including taking the top spot. Senior running back Franklyn Quiteh earned the honor as the No. 1 player in the poll, being credited for his speed, vision and ability to break tackles. The two-time Harlon Hill finalist was joined by defensive end Larry Webster (No. 9), offensive guard Brian Clarke (No. 11), center Chris Steck (No. 94) and defensive tackle Chris Kennedy (No. 96). When the D2Football.com preseason All-America teams came out in August, the Huskies also had strong representation - Quiteh and Clarke were each first team selections while Steck and Webster landed on the second team. CALL ‘EM CAPTAINS Seniors Franklyn Quiteh and Chris Steck along with junior Justin Shirk have been named tri-captains for this season. Steck also served as a team captain a season ago. PSAC PRESEASON POLL Bloomsburg was picked second in the Eastern Division in the 2013 PSAC Preseason Coaches’ Poll which was released at PSAC Media Day in August. It marks the eighth straight year BU has been been picked to finish first or second in the division. Shippensburg, last year’s PSAC East champ, took the top spot with six first-place votes while Bloomsburg and third-place West Chester snagged the remaining top tallies. In the West, defending conference champion IUP was a nearly unanimous favorite with seven first-place votes. Eastern Division 1. Shippensburg (6) 2. Bloomsburg (1) 3. West Chester (1) 4. Kutztown 5. BLOOMSBURG FOOTBALL GAME NOTES
@BUSPORTSINFO • #BUHUSKIES
FROM THE ARCHIVES By Bloomsburg University Archivist Bob Dunkelberger The 52 points the Huskies scored on Saturday is the most the team has ever scored in a game at East Stroudsburg. The previous high was 42 in 1997. The game also marked the 11th time since 1994 the Warriors have passed for more than 300 yards in a game against Bloomsburg. Their record in those 11 games against the Huskies is 1-10. The victory on Saturday was the 10th consecutive time Bloomsburg has won at East Stroudsburg. The only longer streak in school history on an opponent’s home field is the current 15 games at Cheyney. The Huskies have scored 310 points in their first seven games, the highest total in school history. The previous record was the 304 scored in 1996. Bloomsburg has won seven consecutive games to begin the season for the 9th time in school history, third year in a row and the sixth time since 2005. The only other three years were in 1948 and 1951 under Robert Redman and 1985 under George Landis. The football team has won nine consecutive regular season games in Redman Stadium. The only longer streaks are 14 (19992002), 13 (2004-2007) and 11 (1984-1986). The upcoming game with Cheyney is the 54th in the series between the two schools, dating back to the first meeting in 1960. Bloomsburg’s record in the previous 53 games is 43-9-1, 21-5 at home and 22-4-1 on the road. The Huskies have won 23 straight games in the series, which is a school record against a single opponent.

Paul Darragh was named interim head coach of Bloomsburg University in February 2013 and overall will be starting his 17th season with the Huskies this year. Darragh has served as the Huskies’ defensive coordinator for the last 16 years. Under Darragh’s leadership the Huskies’ defense has ranked in the top-half of the PSAC in total defense seven of the past 11 seasons, including back-to-back second place finishes in 2000 and 2001 and a second place in 2009. The Huskies have also ranked among the best in the PSAC in run defense finishing first or second five times, including second in two of the last four seasons. The 2009 Huskies finished third nationally in scoring defense (13.36/game), pacing the PSAC. BU also led the conference in sacks, ranking 14th nationally (3.09 per game). In 2010 the Huskies were eighth in Division II in rushing defense (85.38 yards per game). Overall under Darragh’s leadership, the Bloomsburg defense finished in the top-15 in NCAA Division II six times since the 2000 season. Darragh has also coached 51 first team All-PSAC performers, seven All-Americans and two PSAC East Defensive Players of the Year in Anthony Smith (2009) and Mike Varanavage (2010). Prior to Bloomsburg, Darragh worked for two years at Indiana (PA) as the linebackers coach. He started his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Temple from 1987-89. From there, Darragh coached the linebackers at Northeastern and Gannon before being promoted to defensive coordinator at Gannon. He moved from Gannon to the defensive coordinator post at William Paterson College before joining the IUP staff. A three-year starter and captain for Temple, he graduated in 1985 after earning All-East honors as an inside linebacker.
