MATCH UP: C.W. Post lost a 50-48 shoot out to No. 23 Kutztown last weekend but is not fully out of contention for the PSAC Championship game. Bloomsburg has swept the Pioneers in their only three matchups to date. The Huskies currently lead the conference in scoring defense, while the Pioneers lead in total offense. THE HEAD COACHES: Huskies coach Danny Hale (West Chester ‘68) is in his 18th year at the helm of the Bloomsburg program. Having achieved his 150th win this season against Shippensburg, Hale has a 151-50-1 (.750) record and the most wins in school history. For his career, Hale is 191-63-1 and his winning percentage of .751 is ranked among the top 10 active coaches in Division II and top 20 D-II coaches all-time. Hale has led BU to six playoff appearances, including the latest in 2008. He has been honored as the PSAC East Coach of the Year 10 times, the AFCA Regional Coach of the Year nine times, and was named the AFCA National Coach of the Year following the 2000 season. Head Coach Bryan Collins is in his 13th season with the Pioneers, having amassed a 98-42 (.700) record at C.W. Post. He has led his team to become the winningest coach in school history while winning four outright and one shared Northeast-10 title. In 2005, the team won its first two NCAA Division II Championship games, advancing to the national quarterfinal. Collins previously coached at St. Francis Prep and Kings Point, in addition to previous stints as an assistant with C.W. Post. PSAC EAST: Two games remain in the PSAC Eastern Division season. CHAMPIONSHIP POTENTIAL: Three teams remain in contention for a chance to represent the Eastern Division in the PSAC title game on November 6. With two weeks remaining in the conference schedule, here is what each team needs to qualify: Bloomsburg & Kutztown - Both teams control their own fate, and if EITHER squad wins this week, it will set up a winner-take-all “East Division Championship” game next week at Redman Stadium. If both teams lose this week: Kutztown would advance to the championship with a win over Bloomsburg; otherwise, Bloomsburg would need a win and a C.W. Post loss to Cheyney to earn the division’s berth. C.W. Post - If the Pioneers are victorious over Bloomsburg, they will still need West Chester and Bloomsburg to defeat Kutztown. If all of those games go their way, the Pioneers could coast to the Championship with a win over Cheyney next week. SCOUTING C.W. POST: Entering week 9, the Pioneers lead the PSAC in total offense, averaging 431.8 yards per game. C.W. Post is led by quarterback Erik Anderwkavich, who currently leads the conference in total offense, having racked up 1,958 passing yards and 575 yards on the ground for an average of 316.6 yards per game. Anderwkavich has thrown for 19 touchdowns and has been picked 12 times; his efficiency stands at 142.3. Adding to the Pioneers’ rushing game, running back Thomas Beverly averages nearly 60 yards per game on the ground. C.W. Post’s receiving corps is led by Darnel Williams, who has 54 receptions on the year for 788 yards (98.5 per game). Joe Botti has also become a preferred target, having collected 24 passes for 454 yards. The Pioneers also have defensive star Billy O’Conner protecting the passing game. O’Connor leads the league in tackles, having recorded 91 (11.4 per game) already this year. Xavier Brown is currently second in the PSAC with 7.5 sacks, while Ronnie Modik has picked off three passes in 2010.

Last Meeting #4 Bloomsburg 28 - C.W. Post 14 September 26, 2009 BLOOMSBURG-Sophomore Derrick Price ran for 185 yards and three touchdowns as fourth-ranked Bloomsburg University defeated C.W. Post 28-14 in PSAC football action at Redman Stadium. The Huskies got on the scoreboard first with a 20-yard touchdown pass from senior Dan Latorre to junior Cory Stiger. The Pioneers struck back with an eightplay drive that covered 80 yards, resulting in a 17-yard scoring toss from Eric Anderwkavich to Chris Harris to tie the score at 7-7. Starting at their own 33-yard line, the Huskies used several runs by sophomore Kenny Domzalski to get the ball to the C.W. Post one-yard line. A touchdown run by Price helped stretch the Bloomsburg lead to 14-7. The Huskies defense made two secondquarter stops when they forced a turnover on downs inside their own 10-yard line and got an interception by sophomore Vince Browning, ending a late first half drive. The Huskies would increase their lead when, after a 28-yard pass from Latorre to senior Jordan Weisman, Price galloped up the middle for a 33-yard touchdown run. The defenses tightened up as both teams traded punts and neither was able to get much going throughout the rest of the third and much of the fourth quarter. The Pioneers did find some offensive life and closed the gap to 21-14 on a 15-yard pass from Anderwkavich. After a failed onside kickoff, Price rushed five times for 48 yards on the drive, including the final four up the middle for his third touchdown of the day giving the Huskies a 14-point advantage with 1:34 remaining. Latorre finished 10-of-17 for 125 yards and a touchdown and Stiger caught four passes for 84 yards. Senior Anthony Smith led all tacklers with 19 stops, junior Mike Varanavage recorded 11 tackles, and sophomore Oscar Rivera had nine tackles and two pass breakups. C.W. Post Bloomsburg

Bloomsburg University Football Game Notes Last Week #16 BLOOMSBURG 45 - WEST CHESTER 21 October 23, 2010
BLOOMSBURG—Redshirt freshman Franklyn Quiteh rushed for 161 yards and three touchdowns, while Ben Weaber, Codie Butler, and Pat Carey had outstanding games as well, as No. 16 Bloomsburg University defeated West Chester University in PSAC Eastern Division football action. The Huskies forced a three-and-out on the Golden Rams’ first drive and took over at their own 49 yard line. On the drive’s third play, Quiteh broke loose and trotted to the endzone from 37-yards. With a 7-0 lead, Bloomsburg held West Chester to 15 yards on the next drive, forcing another quick punt. The 12-play, 90-yard drive was capped off by a sevenyard Carey toss to senior captain Weaber to give the Huskies a 14-0 lead. Still in the first quarter, West Chester was forced to punt from its own fouryard line, leaving the Huskies to start their third drive of the game from WCU’s 37. Carey found junior Tyler Guise from 30 yards out to give Bloomsburg a 21-0 lead with 1:35 to play in the period. On the ensuing drive, the Golden Rams’ offense began to come together. Quarterback Mike Mattei completed four passes on the 8-play 70-yard drive, including an 18-yard scoring toss to freshman LaRon Lee to narrow the score to 21-7. West Chester forced Bloomsburg’s first punt on the next drive, and once again, the Golden Rams looked effective. Mattei assembled a 13-play, 62-yard drive, eventually finding redshirt freshman Tim Keyser from 5 yards out to cut Bloomsburg’s lead to 21-14 with less than 30 seconds remaining in the half. In one of the game’s most exciting plays, Carey threw a lateral to tight end Weaber, who aired the ball out downfield, connecting with sophomore Kyle Fisher for a 53-yard gain. With seven seconds remaining, Carey threw to Weaber for the final three yards needed to get to the endzone, and Bloomsburg carried a 28-14 lead into the break. Despite a 31-yard Fisher return on the half ’s opening kick, the Huskies failed to gain significant ground on their drive. West Chester’s D’Andre Webb soon escaped for a 77-yard run, tightening the game, 28-21. On Bloomsburg’s next drive, a miraculous 47-yard diving catch by Guise put BU within striking distance of the goal line. Quiteh finished off the final two yards of the 10-play, 67-yard drive. Later in the third, West Chester’s Lee tossed a throw and was picked on a deflecting by Oscar Rivera that landed in the arms of younger brother Justin Rivera for the day’s only turnover. The Huskies took six minutes off the clock with an 11-play drive that concluded with a 40-yard field goal by Daniel Fisher. Determined to put the game away, Bloomsburg offense and defense rose to the moment in the fourth quarter. The Golden Rams were held to 18 yards of offense in the period, during which BU kept possession for nearly 11 of 15 minutes. The final score of the game came on yet another run by Quiteh, who scored his third touchdown of the day from 17-yards out to ice the game at 45-21. The BU defense held West Chester to fewer than 20 yards offense on 8 of 11 drives, four of which found the Golden Rams recording negative net yardage. Carey finished the day completing 7 of 13 passes for 122 yards and three TD’s. Mattei had 143 yards and 2 scores while throwing 13 of 29 successfully. Kyle Fisher had a game-high 75 receiving yards off three catches, while Weaber had 2 touchdowns and 23 yards off his own three receptions. In addition to Quiteh’s 161 yards on the ground, freshman Codie Butler ran for a career-high 110 on 15 attempts. The current NCAA leader in rushing yards, Quiteh (1,310) averages 163.8 yards per game and gained three spots to take over seventh on the Bloomsburg all-time list for season rushing yards. “It’s surprising to see a team put up over 700 yards and lose. C.W. Post is a challenging, physical team. Our offense will need to continue to control the ball, minimize mistakes, and put points on the board. We’ll need the defense and special teams to play well, too; it will take a total team effort.”
