Walk away with a prize worth £20,000 at the East Midlands Bricks Awards 2023

Galliford Try signs contracts for Leicester Net Zero Carbon in Operation school

BUSINESS LINK’S East Midlands Bricks Awards is set to be bigger and better than ever this year, and with nominations flooding in, there’s also a grand prize worth £20,000 up for grabs.

Celebrating the region’s property and construction industry, the prestigious event recognises development projects and people in commercial and public building – from office, industrial and residential schemes, through to community projects such as leisure schemes and schools – and the Overall Winner at the event will also be awarded a year of marketing/publicity worth £20,000.

A highlight in the business calendar, winners will be revealed at a glittering awards ceremony on Thursday 28 September, at the Trent Bridge Cricket Ground – an evening that will also provide plenty of opportunities to forge new contacts with property and construction professionals from across the region.

GALLIFORD TRY’S Building East Midlands business has entered into contract with the Department of Education (DfE) to deliver the new Catherine Infant School in Leicester.

The new £14m facility will be designed to be a Net Zero Carbon in Operation (NZCiO) school by using sustainable elements in its design, such as photovoltaic panels and a green roof.

The project will see the creation of a new two-storey building, to replace the current school, which was graded as outstanding by OFSTED during its last inspection. The new site will also include new car parking, as well as a Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) and a play space that will have direct access from the classrooms.

Jon Marston, Managing Director for Galliford Try Building East Midlands, commented: “We are excited to begin work on this fantastic new school in Leicester, and look forward to providing the students and staff with the high-quality facilities they deserve.”

“We look forward to working with all the stakeholders involved to deliver a NZCiO school, a key part of our offering in the education sector.”

This project will make another great addition to Galliford Try’s portfolio of low-carbon school projects, which includes the likes of Greenhead College, Marjorie McClure and Blackridge Early Learning Centre.
