HOOVER Treated Wood Products donated and treated all ol the wood' includinq LVL, required for an innovative bridge designed by the United States illilitarv Ac'ademv for the annual National Timber Bridge Design Comoetition. 'Before btiqinninq construction, the cadets received a tour of H6over's Milford, Va., treatlng lacility. Their arch bridge with a susoended deck. which won 1st Place for most innovative design and 3rd itlace for most aesthetic design, will become an integral part of West Point's nature trail at Round Pond.

RUSSIANS TOUR DHP: Diamond Hill Plywood recently hosted a deleoation of Russian business executives at its Darlington' S.C., corporate Eeadquarters. DHP c.e.o., Jim Ramsey (standing, center), led tours of the ccimpany's new DC and warehouse in addition to running a marketino seminar for the visitors.

John Edward Bromwell Ransone Jr., 81, founder and owner of J.E.B. Ransone Lumber Co., New Orleans, La., died July 13.

A native of Baltimore, Md., Mr. Ransone served as president of the Lumbermen's Club of New Orleans in lg65 and the Producer's Council Inc from 196l to 1962.

C. Craft Dewey, 78, retired founder of Craft Dewey Lumber Co., Memphis, Tn., died July 13'

A World War II Navy veteran, Mr. Dewey was a past president of the Lumbermen's Club of Memphis and a former staff writer for Southern Lumberman.

PATRIOTIC DUCT DUTY: An American flag made of 1 ,1 20 rolls of duct taoe was recenllv unveiled in New York City's Union Square Park as part of'the 60th anniversary celebration of both Flag Day and duct tape. Duct taDe was introduced'durinq World War ll to help U.S soldiers keep ariimunition cases dry. Theilag measured 50 ft. by 95 ft. and weighed more than 500 lbs.

Martin 66slim" Edmonson, 86, retired employee of Wood-Phillips Lumber Co., Dumas, Tx., died May 5 in Amarillo, Tx.

A native of Horatio, Ar., Mr. Edmonson worked at Wood-Phillips for 42 years.
