II/ESTERN Wood Products Association will return to VY ttre desert for its 42nd annual meeting, bringing together lumber industry executives and others from throughout the West and beyond. The 2006 meeting, scheduled for March ll-14, will be held at the Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort and Spa at Gainey Ranch, one of the premier resorts in the Phoenix/Scottsdale, Az., area.

The WWPA annual meeting carries a rich tradition in the industry. Often referred to as "The Pine Meeting" by long-time industry veterans, the three-day event draws a wide cross-section of the western lumber industry, from c.e.o.'s and presidents to sales professionals to mill managers and quality control experts.

The 2006 meeting features business meetings, a golf tournament, a construction site tour and many networking opportunities. WWPA also will present an updated forecast on lumber supply and demand for the coming year.

Since the 2006 meeting dates coincide with Major League Baseball's spring training, attendees can come early or leave late and take in a few games. The Phoenix/Scottsdale area is home to eight of the l2 pro teams in the spring Cactus League.

For suppliers and others doing business with western lumber mills, the WWPA Exchange Show held during the meeting offers a forum to showcase services or products before this key buying audience. The Exchange Show features table top displays and runs over the course of two days. A table top can be reserved forjust $150, or $75 for WWPA Distributor and Service Associates.

Sponsorship opportunities are also available to promote your company to western lumber mills. A number of the meeting events on the schedule are available for sponsorship, with fees ranging from $1,500 to $3,000.

The WWPA meeting provides a unique opportunity for lumber retailers to make contact with the leading lumber producers in the region. In fact. the 2006 meeting features a special panel of retailers. who will review lumber sales and use trends in their respective markets. The panel discussion is scheduled for Monday afternoon. March 13.

March is a busy season in the Phoenix,/Sconsdale area. Attendees are urged to make resort reservations early to secure lower rates and guarantee a room.
