Sacramento Hoo-Hoo Club Holds Concat--lnitiates 13 Kittens
Thirteen Kittens were initiated into the mysteries oi Hoo-Hoo at a Concatenation held at the American Legion Hall, North Sacramento, June 23. There was an attendance of 100, and all seemed agreed that it was a very enjoyable afrair.

The Concat was held at 3:59 p.m., and a bufiet dinner r.r'as served at 6:59 p.m., followed by a floor show.
Visitors from the San Francisco Bay district were given a welcome by Vicegerent Snark Charles Shepard. These included Lelv Godard, Leo Hulett, Al Kelley, Earl Carlson, and D. Normen Cords, Vicegerent Snark for the Oakland district.

Erskine H. Courtenay, director o1 5ales, Furniture Division, The Mengel Company, Louisville, Kentucky, has announced the appointment of N. Stuart Irwin as director of advertising of the division.

Mengel's nelv executive comes from the Carrier Corporation, Syracuse, New York, where he has been assistant director of advertising and sales promotion. Prior to his association with Carrier, Mr. Irwin was with SherwinWilliams and the General Electric Company in Cleveland' He will make his headquarters in Louisville. Mengel's advertising agency is Marschalk and Pratt of New York.

Brown Brothers Lumber Co., Helena, one of Montana's largest, has been sold to the Monarch Lumber Co., Great Falls. Monarch Lumber Co. has 35 retail yards in Montana.

Articles of incorporation have been filed with the ldaho secretary of state for the Cal-Ida Lumber Co., Caldwell, Idaho, rvith capitalization at $10,000. fncorporators are Robert I. Troxwell, Eda M. Bryan and O. L. Thornock, all of Caldwell.
Amendments to Order L-335
Direction 2a, which controls the delivery and use of Western pines, is amended as follows:
(1) All pine from mills cutting less than 1O MBM per day is exempt from the direction. Such footage can be delivered without need for the special authorization number. However, this lumber is still under control of the general provisions of L-335 with regard to certifications, ratings, etc.
(2) Western pine may now be used to manufacture such items as cabinets, kitchen cupboards, etc., provided these items are for use in approved construction jobs rated AA-3 or higher. Previously only cloors, winclows, frames, etc., could be manufactured from pine. In addition, pine from mills cutting less than 10 MBM per day, being exempted from the Direction, can be used to manufacture any item regardless of its final use.
(3) Class fI consumers, those using less than 50 MBM per quarter, who have previously received authorization to buy pine may continue to use their present authorization number for the third and succeeding quarters. previously authorizecl footage must not be exceeded and the pine must be used for the same pnrpose as originally applied for. Direction 6, which controls delivery of certain species of hardwood is also amended:
(1) Previously, mills manufacturing 5 MBNf of hard.ivood lumber per day were covered by this Direction. This figure has been raised to 30 MBM per week.

(2). As in Direction 2a above, Class II consurners may continue to use their previously assignecl authorjzation numbers to purchase hardwood lumber. These amendments became effective Iune 30.

Edgcr B. King
Edgar B. King, one of the founders of the King Lun-rber Company, of Bakersfield, rvith yards throughout the southern San Joaquin Vallev, passed away in a sanitarium in Livermore, Calif., June 13, after a long illness.
Mr. King, a native of Tennessee, came to Kern County in the early 9O's, and to Bakersfield in 1901. He later moved to Berkeley.
He is survived by his lvidow, Mrs. Acla Newport King; two daughters, Mrs. James Metcalf and Mrs. Frank Nagle of Berkeley; a sister, Mrs. J. B. McKeon, and four brothers, Arthur D. of Hillsborough; and Elmore, Everett and Leslie King of Bakersfield, who carry on tl-re King Lumber Company.
Funeral services rvere held in Oaklanrl on lune 15.
