A colored brakeman on a freight run was on the witness stand testifying as an eye-witness concerning the death of another brakeman whose wife was suing for damages.

"Where was this man when you saw him?" they asked.

"Bout thuty cahs back fum de engine," he answered.

"And where were you?"

"I was on de tendah of de engine."

"What time was it?"
