SUNRISE ROTARY ON THE CALIFORNIA RIVIERA

November is Rotary Foundation Month by Rod Eide

And thank you MBSR members, current and past, for your nearly 23 years of outstanding support to The Rotary Foundation! Since the Club was chartered in April 1988, club members have contributed $215,000 to The Rotary Foundation. As a result of these contributions, 145 persons have become Paul Harris Fellows — including 58 deserving non-members. Currently all our members (except a few new members) are Paul Harris Fellows (many multiple times). Many of you may recall that as of a specific date a couple of years ago, MBSR was a 100% Paul Harris Fellows Club. The Rotary Foundation was created many years ago to provide financial assistance to Rotary Clubs around the world with their International Service projects. As we in the Western world view our International Service project areas, we look primarily at the major needs of those people who live in the “third” world. Such projects are typically very expensive and time consuming, and every year The Rotary Foundation makes millions of dollars available to Rotary Clubs for these projects (and in recent years, some local projects too). In fact, every “Annual Giving” or “Special Projects/ Restricted” dollar contributed to The Foundation is used for such good work — none for administration costs. Finally, thank you all again for your support to The Rotary Foundation as it helps our Club, and all others in the world, as they work to improve the lives of those who live in poverty, those who need medical support, those who need education support, those who need clean water and improved sanitation systems, and those who are finally almost free of the dreaded disease — polio. Keep up that great work!!
