The Toot Yung Gallery, Nemo Studio and the BKK Arthouse are pleased to work jointly on this international street art and illustration festival gathering 27 artists from Thailand and Europe supported by the EUNIC Cluster*. “BUKRUK/THAI EUROPE CONNECTION” is the first large-scale collaboration between Thailand and Europe in the field of street art and illustration. This project will be the biggest yet proposed in the field of street art in Thailand, with more than 400m2 of exhibition space provided by the Bangkok Art and Culture Center and 1000m2 of exterior wall paintings. It will include an art & design exhibition at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre as well as a public exhibition of graffiti artwork in public spaces around the Pathumwan intersection where the artists will create works on site in the beginning of February 2013. Street celebrations will take place on Saturday Feb 16th in the Rama 6 land from noon till dark, in the outdoor part of the show, with DJs from Thailand and Europe. This first edition of BUKRUK Street art and illustration festival will be a thriving symbol of the cooperation between Europe and Thailand, with 16 European artists working jointly with 11 Thai artists among the most talented and cutting edge in their fields. As an echo to this multidisciplinary movement of street art and illustration, new exhibition methods will be adopted. “BUKRUK/ THAI EUROPE CONNECTION” will feature several shows within the show. First of all, the works will spread beyond the conventional exhibition walls to go out on the streets around the BACC. The 400 m2 of exhibition space provided by the BACC will be

arranged as a concept store presenting various works accessible to all types of public. Printed T-shirts, original prints, paintings or small objects; the lofty space will take the shape of a Pop Shop in the tradition of Keith Harring. Connections between the two sides of the project will be possible via a map distributed during the opening reception, gathering all murals throughout the city. Also, a projection of all paintings being made will be featured in the BACC exhibition space. BUKRUK Street Art Festival’s first outdoor opening event will be organized and promoted by Duck & Noodle. Featuring live painting by the festival’s Thai and European artists, and local independent bands and DJs, the event will start at noon and last until evening. The audience will also enjoy a bar-b-cue and pop up bar, as well as performances by the “parkour generation” group and hip hop battle. Several of the festival’s artists will paint the side-walls of the buildings bordering the space where the event will take place. The paintings will be large-scale as some of the walls to be painted are 20 meters high. Guests will be able to watch the artists work, and as it gets dark, spotlights will shine on the walls the artists paint, providing for a visually striking and memorable experience.
