Injecting your home with personality plus is as easy as playing with paint

To turn a so-so room into a stunner, all you need is paint and a little imagination. The beauty of paint is you can let your creativity run wild: go bold with colour, create shapes and patterns, and it can all be covered over if it doesn’t work out as envisioned. Get it right, though, and you’ve created an eye-catching feature that announces the space as utterly and uniquely yours.

We’ve shown how you can take the feature wall concept to the floor with a painted pattern; turn a favourite colour three-dimensional using plaster; enliven a living room with intersecting shapes; and define a study zone by creating the illusion of a dado rail. Take these ideas as a starting point, put your own spin on it and have fun!

PRO TIP

To coat a wall, pour paint into a wide tray, dip the roller in the paint, then lift and roll with full rotations over the tray’s platform until evenly saturated. Begin at top left of the wall and use a W motion over a metre square to evenly distribute paint
