OUTDOOR LIVING ASSEMBLY SERVICE

Updating your outdoor living area has never been easier. Choose from three helpful service options: furniture assembly, barbecue assembly, and patio heater assembly. (All services are only eligible for products purchased at Bunnings.)

Furniture Assembly

Great furniture is an essential element of creating a comfortable outdoor space. Once you’ve chosen your setting or pieces, we can connect you with a service agent to assemble your goods. For any questions regarding this service, speak with our Team Members at the Special Orders Desk.

Barbecue Assembly

Make the most of your outdoor area by adding a barbecue. We have a wide range to choose from, including portable and stand-alone models to fully equipped modular outdoor kitchens. We can also assemble your new purchase for you. Speak to the Special Orders Desk to make arrangements.

Patio Heater Assembly

To keep your outdoor area warm and useable year-round, purchase a patio heater and we’ll assemble or install it for you. Speak with the Special Orders Desk for more information.

OTHER AVAILABLE SERVICES

Barbecue Cabinet Assembly

Dreaming of an outdoor kitchen? Choose your favourite style from the barbecue cabinet range and we’ll pre-assemble, deliver and put it together for you at your home for a single price, inclusive of product. The Barbecue Cabinet Assembly service excludes the installation of a stone benchtop, assembly of a barbecue, and fitting of plumbing and gas. However, we have additional services to help with these tasks. Contact the Special Orders Desk for more information.

This service is available in selected stores only.

Play Equipment Assembly

Make family and friends feel welcome by creating a backyard area that caters to kids and pets. Install play equipment for hours of entertainment, or establish a cute pet enclosure to help calm visiting pets. Choose your product and we can arrange for it to be set up. Contact the Special Orders Desk for more information.

Gas Bottles

Keep your barbecue running smoothly by purchasing a full gas bottle. You can also exchange your empty gas bottle for a full one.

WAYS TO SHOP

Get It Home

If you’re shopping in-store, we can assist with getting your products back home safely and securely. Most stores have options to arrange delivery to your home, depending on your location and the size of your order. A delivery fee will be added to your order at the time of purchase. Contact your local store to find out more. Our Get It Home offer includes a courtesy trailer, free for up to two hours. For an easier move, the trailer is fitted with tie down racks, an ‘H’ frame and a jockey wheel. We also have a fleet of utes and vans with a one-tonne carrying capacity, which can be hired by the hour. Contact your local store for vehicle availability and rates.

Maintain your outdoor furniture to ensure it will look its best, season after season.

Daily/weekly

• Give outdoor tables a thorough wipe down with a damp cloth and general surface spray.

• To minimise the impact of bugs, remove cobwebs, insects (and their eggs) and droppings from rafters, light fittings, walls and corners with an extendable broom, brush and dustpan.

Seasonally/annually

• Remove covers from outdoor furniture and cushions, and give them a spin in the washing machine. Follow care advice on the label. Deal with mould marks by soaking in a suitable stain removing solution.

• Give furniture a scrub with a soft brush and a cleaning product suitable for its material (timber, metal, plastic, fabric). To inhibit mould, scrub with a solution of one cup of vinegar to four litres of warm water.

Next, think about how you’ll use your kitchen and features that are important to you: preparation, storage, a sink for clean-up, and your preferred hot zone (barbecue, pizza oven, cooktop, etc.).

Choose the right barbecue

There is a barbecue option to suit every cooking style, from grill master to simple, straightforward snag enthusiast. Size is an important consideration, although bigger isn’t always better. Think about the number of people you regularly cook for and the space you have available – these will help determine the most suitable size. Next, consider which fuel type you prefer (gas, electric or charcoal-fuelled). Lastly, look at styles to match your cooking preferences, from kettle to hooded to flat top.

Add a few extras

Once you have your kitchen and barbecue sorted, think about adding a few extras to round out the space. A drinks fridge is a useful addition, as it saves the host multiple trips to the kitchen, ensuring they can focus on the food and their guests.

Alfresco cook-ups for everyone

We live in a golden age. Not only are there barbecues to suit every size of space, from apartment balconies to sprawling backyards, but there’s also a barbecue to suit how you love to cook, too.

When choosing the best barbecue for you, look at the space you have available and how you like to cook. Those are good starting points.

We’re sharing more tips to help you on your barbecue-buying journey.

Consider what size you’ll need

For couples and small families, a two- or three-burner barbecue is generally big enough, while larger families or keen entertainers will love the flexibility and capacity of a four- or six-burner barbecue.

Where you plan to use the barbecue may also influence the size and style.

“Portable barbecues are great for those with limited outdoor space, such as apartment balconies or townhouse courtyards, and allow flexibility to move it to different locations,” says David Hardie, the national barbecue and barbecue accessories buyer for Bunnings. “Alternatively, a built-in barbecue or barbecue kitchen, complete with extra bench space, storage and even a sink, can be a fantastic addition to an outdoor entertaining area.”

Fuel up

Your preferred fuel type – gas, electric, charcoal or pellets – will also influence which model you choose. “Cooking on quality solid fuels is widely thought to add greater depth of flavour to your cook, while gas barbecues are generally less expensive to run and can get up to cooking temperature more quickly, making them incredibly convenient,” explains David.

LPG bottles allow portable models to move where desired, while plumbed natural gas is ideal for built-in models and ensures you won’t run out of gas mid-cook.

To assess durability and functionality, David recommends looking at the main components and favouring models made from stainless steel, with cast iron burners. Other beneficial and user-friendly features include a self-cleaning glass viewing window, side burner, temperature gauge and LED lights.

Beyond the barbecue

To expand your culinary repertoire, you might also like to explore specialised cooking devices. “If you love the ambience of woodfired cooking, but prefer a simpler method, a gas-fired pizza oven is a great option,” suggests David. “It provides fast, high temperatures ideal for convenient cooking, without the need for wood or cleaning up ash and soot.”

If it’s smoky, American-style, low ‘n’ slow cooking you crave, David recommends a wood pellet grill. “It’s easy to use and, with the ability to grill, smoke, bake, roast, sear, braise, chargrill and barbecue, it’s far more capable than a traditional charcoal or gas barbecue. Much like an oven, the natural hardwood pellets give you precise temperature control, while dispersed heat and smoke infuses food with a wonderful smoky flavour.”

Going big with your barbecue fare? Consider a spit roaster, which can tackle cuts you might not be able to accommodate in an oven.

With wood-burning appliances such as pizza ovens, avoid burning any timbers that have been painted, stained or treated with preservatives.

Barbecue buyer’s checklist

FUNCTION: What type of cooking do you want to do: grilling, roasting, baking, smoking?

NUMBER OF BURNERS: How many people are you catering for?

AESTHETICS: How will it look and is a suitable cover available?

FUEL SOURCE: Natural gas, LPG, solid fuel or electric?

FEATURES: Does it have functions or accessories that promote convenience, ease of use and varied cooking?

For example: a temperature gauge, wok burner, rotisserie attachment, sear burner, hood lighting or selfcleaning function.

MAINTENANCE: Is it easy to clean and look after?

PRICE: Is it within your budget?
