Leadership in Practice Leadership in Practice is our brand new module of our Leadership School for African and Danish leaders/ managers, who already have or plan to have close international businesses collaboration. You will gain insight into some of the characteristics of East Africa and European leadership/management cultures and a deeper understanding of the possibilities and challenges which intercultural interaction at a business-to-business level may bring. During the course you will also form networks and learn about new leadership related concepts together with other East African and Danish leaders/managers and thereby strengthen the possibilities of cooperation. Leadership in Practice is the first of a total of 6 modules of the Academic Professional Degree (AP Degree) in Leadership and Management. Benefits: • You gain insight in your own style of leadership and communication and how you can develop your leadership competences in a goal-oriented way. • You are presented with a number of tools for good leadership communication with Danish and East African collaborators. • You are trained in the role as facilitator to conduct effective meetings, both face-to-face and online. • You meet other Danish and African leaders/managers and get the possibility to establish new business relationships. • You get an insight into international business culture through a 5-day course in Uganda. educational requirements for admission: For admission to Leadership in Practice the following qualifications are required: Educational qualifications as for the Ordinary Higher Education Programmes supplemented with minimum 2 years of relevant work experience as a manager and/or leader. The work experience required must be documented by the applicant when submitting the application for admission. Relevant vocational qualifications may also qualify for admission in combination with minimum 2 years of relevant work experience. You must speak and write English corresponding to an IELTS academic score of 6.0+. Structure of the course: Leadership in Practice is a blended-learning course consisting of face-to-face and seven online seminars. The course is structured to allow you to carry out your studies along with your job. The course is a part-time study, conducted in the period from 8th October to 17th December 2013. It covers the first of a total of 6 modules of the AP Leadership and Management Programme. The model below shows the structure of the first course module:

After the course in Uganda the Leadership in Practice continues as seven online seminars, also known as webinars. Here you will be presented with different presentations by lecturers but with active involvement of the participants. The course is a combination of virtual educational sequences and mutual discussions with a focus on the participants’ own practice. The participants will enter into virtual study groups, the purpose of which is to contribute and share knowledge about different leadership challenges and dilemmas from their own practice. We use an effective e-learning system which supports both written and visual communication between the lecturer and the participants. All education and materials used are in English language.
