Eleven years later, our students have continued the Tradition of Faith, Knowledge, and Service by planning and participating in this event. Led by 2022 Co-Chairs Kate McDonnell '23 and Grace Holland '23, we exceeded our goal by raising $183,542.62 – pushing our lifetime total to $1.72 million raised for cancer research.
competitors. From dramatic interpretation and impromptu speaking to poetry interpretation and storytelling, students had opportunities to showcase all of their talents!
The day was full of games and events, fundraising, endless laps around the track, and community members coming together as a reminder that no one experiencing cancer is alone. Austin Coode '22 and Father Ryan Spanish teacher Mrs. Violeta Robbins spoke about how cancer has affected their lives and the importance of the work that our students do.
Congratulations to Christ the King School on winning 1st place overall based on their performance in 13 different categories!
We salute our Co-Chairs for their commitment to this event and for leading the entire Relay For Life Committee and student body over the last several months. When asked why they relay, Kate – Elliston House Captain– said she relays for those she knows who have battled against cancer directly and indirectly. A Relay For Life committee member since sophomore year, Grace, relays for her grandparents, who have battled and survived cancer, and all those affected by the disease. Thank you to all those who offered their time, money, and prayers – we couldn't have done it without you!

Overseeing the cast was Emmy-award-winner Ben Rittenhouse, known for his work on Mr. Tumnus in the "Chronicles of Narnia" movies and the Sharkboy costume for "Sharkboy and Lavagirl." Ben currently serves as the Director of SFX Makeup at the academy. To complement Ben's expertise, Michael Meyer, School Director and Wig Instructor, is assisting with all wigs and makeup for the production. In October, we were thrilled to welcome Father Ryan alum Jackson Dougherty ’16 back to campus to teach stage combat master classes to our Musical Theatre, Theatre I, and Acting students! Jackson currently works in Chicago, Illinois, and is recognized as an Advanced ActorCombatant by the Society of American Fight Directors and is certified in six weapons. His time in Father Ryan’s Theatre program helped him discover his passion for this field! Jackson taught our students essential safety measures for stage fighting, terminology for various moves and effects, and choreographed partner combinations by the end of class. In addition, we are grateful to have Jackson’s expertise as he choreographs the combat moments for Beauty and the Beast! We look forward to seeing everyone at the musical on November 10-13!

Coming off of an excellent 2021 season, Varsity Golf member Reagan

Robinson ’23 gave the 2022 season her all. In early 2022, Reagan won the Sneds Tour 2022 Presidents Classic in Sea Island, Georgia. Additionally, she played in the 2022 FCG Callaway World Championship in Palm Springs, California, where she shot a 71, 75, and 72 through the tournament. With a dramatic final round at the State Golf Tournament, Reagan finished Runner-Up and posted the lowest single round in the entire tournament with a 69. Reagan’s success on the links translates just as well off the golf course as she is heavily involved in all things Father Ryan. During her high school experience, the Holy Rosary alumna has completed four AP classes and will complete an additional five, including AP Calculus BC and AP Psychology, by the time she graduates this May. She excels in the classroom, making the Academic Dean’s List every quarter while enrolled at Father Ryan. Additionally, Reagan showcases her leadership skills as Emerald House Captain, Student Ambassador, and member of Mu Alpha Theta!
