BRUSSELS ANTIQUES & FINE ART FAIR
27 January to 4th February 2018 | Tour & Taxis, Avenue du Port 86 C, 1000 Brussels
IN JANUARY one hundred and thirty-four galleries and dealers from sixteen countries will converge on Brussels for the first major event in the international art calendar. A stringent vetting process will ensure that every object is passed on the grounds of quality and authenticity so that collectors can buy with confidence. A diverse spectrum of specialities catalogued under twenty-seven categories will be offered for sale. Paintings and sculpture from most European schools will keep company with antiquities, Asian art, tapestries, furniture, photography, glass, tribal art and manuscripts to name but a few disciplines.
A special feature of the fair will be the presence of a monumental work by the New Realism artists Christo (b.1935) and his late wife, Jeanne-Claude (1935–2009). The work, chosen by Christo for BRAFA, dates from 1965–66 (after they emigrated to New York in 1964) and is titled Three store fronts. It is fourteen metres long and two and a half metres high.
