rural poverty, her baptism certifi cate records her as ‘born without arms and legs’. Signing almost all of her paintings ‘without hands’, she emerged

THE EVOLUTION OF Fine Arts Paris continues in 2022 as it partners for the first time with La Biennale, which, despite its name, had become an annual event staged in September, also at the Carrousel du Louvre. This new joint venture will herald a more traditional mixed arts fair instead of focusing purely on the fine arts. Consequently, the event has expanded in size and will house eighty-six exhibitors. Old-master, nineteenth-century and modern works of art will be offered along with furniture, tapestries, ceramics, jewellery, tribal, Asian and Islamic art, manuscripts and antiquities. Touching on the theme of this issue, sculpture will feature strongly on the stands of several specialist dealers in older works, including Galerie Ratton-Ladrière, Galerie Sismann, Chiale Fine Art and Trebosc + van Lelyveld.
The fair will be accompanied by a series of cultural events organised in partnership with Paris museums as part of the French capital’s Semaine des Beaux Arts
