TITIAN SOURCES AND DOCUMENTS
CHARLES HOPE Hardback, 247 x 170 mm 6 volumes, 2,694 pages £500 / €550 / $650 ISBN: 978-1-912168-23-1 Burlington Press with Ad Ilissum
Hugely ambitious, Titian: Sources and Documents includes all known documents about Titian and his work dating from his lifetime, and all known references to him in contemporary publications. The relevant section of each text is transcribed in full, preceded by a short summary in English, with extensive annotation and, where necessary, a commentary. The intention of this incredible work of scholarship is to provide a comprehensive survey of the surviving historical evidence about Titian and his career. New transcriptions are provided for the great majority of the documents that have previously been published, and many hitherto unknown documents have been included. Consideration is given also to documents now known only via secondary sources, and to fake documents, of which a significant number were produced in the past two centuries. Charles Hope is a former Director of the Warburg Institute. He has published extensively on fifteenth- and sixteenthcentury Italian art. The present book is based on research he has undertaken over the past half-century.

formerly known as Fine Arts Paris & La Biennale, which represents the successful combination of two highly regarded French art fairs: Fine Arts Paris and La Biennale des Antiquaires. The event adopts a new spot in the art calendar in 2023, and a prestigious new venue. Taking over the 9,000 square-metre floor space of the Grand Palais Éphémère allows for more exhibitors – 110 in total – of which forty-three will be first-time participants. Works of art on display will span more than 4,000 years, from ancient Egyptian artefacts to post-war and contemporary art. Objects originating from six continents have been carefully selected, with Asian, Oceanic and African art being particularly well represented. FAB Paris will host a programme of events, including curated visits to institutions such as Centre Pompidou, Institut de France, Opéra Garnier, Musée de l’Armée-Invalides, Jeu de Paume and Fondation d’art contemporain Daniel & Florence Guerlain. This initiative (which will be familiar to visitors to the Salon du Dessin) will emphasise the constructive relationship in France between museum collections and the art trade.

published in 1829–32, remain to this day the first port of call for anyone interested in the history and culture of Rajasthan and the early colonial encounter in India. Now available in a numbered limited edition of 750 copies, this re-issue of the original text including over 80 original copperplate engravings, woodblock prints and lithographs returns the text to its original state, while the accompanying companion volume critically reframes this monumental, but often misunderstood, work. 3-Volume Boxed Set with Slipcase | Nov 2023 | 195 colour + b/w illus. | £850
