THE THIRD EDITION OF FAB PARIS, formerly Fine Arts Paris & La Biennale, is presented at the newly restored, historic Grand Palais for the first time since its establishment in 2022. Organised by Agence d’Événements Culturels, which also runs the Salon du Dessin, FAB Paris amalgamates two prominent art fairs: La Biennale des Antiquaires, founded in 1956, and Fine Arts Paris, established in 2017. This year the fair brings together one hundred esteemed art and antique dealers with works from no fewer than twenty disciplines.
FAB Paris continues the legacy of its predecessors with its excellent showcase of old masters and nineteenth-century painting, featuring works by such artists as Pieter Brueghel the Younger, Dürer, Auguste Rodin, Pierre-Auguste Renoir and Pablo Picasso. The fair honours France’s rich tradition of decorative arts with ‘Furniture & Decorative Arts’, which features prestigious Parisian antique dealers; and the strong presence of Japanese art is a tribute to Japonisme and the ties between France and Japan since the sixteenth century. A dedicated stand with five young art dealers and new participation from leading international modern and contemporary galleries also invigorate the fair.
A highlight is the exhibition dedicated to the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild, which coincides with the 160th anniversary of the birth of Béatrice de Rothschild and includes pieces from the collection that have never been shown publicly. A full roster of programmes runs during the week, including the inaugural gala dinner, a panel discussion on museum acquisition policies, a concert and exclusive visits to galleries in the city.
