‘Fully armed in plate of war’: making the effigy of the Black Prince, an article by Jessica Barker, Graeme Mcarthur and Emily Pegues, firts published in the November 2021 issue of The Burlington Magazine.
The effigy on the Black Prince’s tomb in Canterbury Cathedral was unprecedented in English medieval funerary art in being an armoured figure cast in metal.
