WALK WITH

If you’re looking for something both spooky and nice to do why not go up to the woods? Or to be more precise, Aitken Wood, near the village of Barley.

IN THE WOODS

There you will find the Pendle Sculpture Trail. Walking through the trail you will find metal bats in the trees, giant tree archways, the spirits of the wood, and… well, 10 witches lurking among the trees! But they won’t jump out on you, because they are in fact ceramic plaques. Each one has its own symbols, representing each one of the ten famous Pendle Witches of 1612.

TRAIL START

Upper Black Mos Reservoir s

Go on family friendly walks… Pendle Walking Festival this year is in the school summer holidays, so it’s a great chance to be involved! Guess how many walks you have a choice of? Ten, maybe? Twenty? No…. why not take part in just one or two out of the 38 walks which are family friendly. Over ten of these are three miles or less! But if you’ve got longer legs there’s lots of longer walks too. These are going on all over Pendle from Saturday August 15th to Sunday August 23rd. No need to worry about the routes and getting lost! All our walks have leaders who will be your guide. Getting to the start of these walks couldn’t be easier as they

start in practically every part of Pendle. Get hold of our FREE Pendle Walking Festival programme now to see which walks you’d like to go on. Pick up a copy from local Tourist Information Centres or download one from www.visitpendle.com If you prefer to go out and walk on your own – with your family of course! – go to our website www.visitpendle.com and visit our countryside page to download one of the many walks listed. There are cycle rides too, if you have bikes.

Come on just THREE of our walks that are marked Family Friendly in our programme and you will be entered into our competition with a chance to win one of three £25 store vouchers. Not only do you have a great chance to win but everyone who enters gets a Certificate of Achievement for the walks you have done. Just collect THREE Billy Badger stickers from the leaders of the three walks you go on, stick them next to your name, and post them back to us. Good luck!
