Topic

ÂŤChanging the rules of the game: the convergence of media in the global information economyÂť

Director of UCLA Anderson's Business and Information Technologies (BIT) Project, Professor Uday Karmarkar, studies the ways new online information and communication affect business practices worldwide. He foresees radical changes in the way information is created, disseminated and consumed. His conclusions are based on the BIT survey that is being conducted on technology use in ten countries in different regions of the world. Based on his research and professional experience, Professor Uday Karmarkar will raise several key questions to help businesses more successfully navigate the changes: What will be the impact of new technologies on media and communications? How will media channels and consumer appliances converge? Which threats and opportunities will arise from these new trends and the changing competitive landscape? What are the fundamental changes in the way content will be created, distributed and consumed? Will we see outsourcing and off-shoring of media jobs? Which core competencies must be developed to meet the demands of future consumers?
