FRINGE WORLD FESTIVAL

Fringe World Perth is the third largest Fringe Festival in the world and Perth’s most popular festival, boasting a month-long calendar of events that includes world renowned comedians, quirky circus acts, moving music and musicals, and intriguing sensory experiences.

As the oldest arts festival in the southern hemisphere, the Perth Festival is known for commissioning major new works, celebrating the unique qualities of Perth and engaging diverse audiences. Originating in 1953 as a ‘festival for the people’, the Perth Festival brings together the best in international theatre, circus, music, dance, film, literature and the visual arts.

Held in winter, Cabin Fever offers a smorgasbord of warm and cosy winter events featuring regional produce, award winning wine and beverages, live music, art and entertainment. Around 40 events are held over the 10-day period including gourmet food events, wine dinners, workshops, brews and more.

Kings Park is one of the world’s largest and most beautiful inner-city parks located in Perth’s CBD. It is home to the annual Kings Park Festival, where you’ll find amazing spring displays of wildflowers and many free events including outdoor exhibitions, guided walks, art displays and activities.

Japanese for ‘Festival of the Pearl’, Shinju Matsuri celebrates the unique culture, history and diversity of Broome and features events such as the Sunset Long Table Dinner on the iconic Cable Beach and the Floating Lantern Festival.

EVERNOW FESTIVAL

Inspired by the beautiful land of one of the longest living cultures on Earth, EverNow invites audiences into a rich dreamscape of stunning installations, storytelling, dance, music and performance. The inaugural EverNow festival will be held on Wadjuk country in Perth (Boorloo), during the Noongar season of Kambarang.

Perth’s Sunset Coast stretches from the revitalised hub of Scarborough to the pristine environs of Two Rocks and encompasses Hillary’s Boat Harbour and Yanchep National Park.

The Sunset Coast features 19 sandy beaches and is home to an abundance of beachside venues that capitalise on Perth’s world-class Indian Ocean sunsets, so you can host your delegates for a seaside function that’s sure to delight.

The largest venue on the Coast, the Rendezvous Hotel Perth Scarborough, can cater for conferences of up to 600 delegates, and features 337 on-site accommodation rooms.

Perth’s island playground, Rottnest Island, offers 63 beaches, 20 bays, and an atmosphere of idyllic relaxation that makes for a business event destination like nowhere else in the world. Known as the home of the famous quokka, the island is an A-class nature reserve.

Arriving is easy, just a short 30 minute ferry ride from Fremantle with one of the island’s established ferry operators who offer full-vessel charter for larger groups. Drive time to Geraldton, the largest town in the region, is a 4.5 hour drive north of Perth, or fly on one of Qantas’ twice-daily flights. Exmouth, the gateway to the Ningaloo Reef, is best accessed by plane; Qantas operates twice-daily flights to Learmonth Airport in peak season.

The Indian Ocean Drive is the southern gateway to the Coral Coast region, just a two hour drive north of Perth, and a scenic journey past the picturesque coastal towns of Cervantes, Jurien Bay, Green Head, Leeman, and the twin towns of Dongara- Port Denison.

This coastal route is packed with attractions, from the Pinnacles Desert of Nambung National Park and Lake Thetis thrombolites to the Jurien Bay sea lions. You’ll also find sheltered swimming and snorkelling bays, vibrant carpets of wildflowers, and caves. The adventure doesn’t stop there though, with WWII ruins, world-class rum, walk and cycle paths, 4WDing and eco-camping sites.

The Kalbarri region is renowned for its adventure experiences and stunning natural scenery. Situated where the Murchison River meets the Indian Ocean, the town of Kalbarri is surrounded by the soaring inland and coastal gorges of Kalbarri National Park, protected swimming bays like the Blue Holes, superb walking trails, and over one thousand species of wildflowers.

Dine beneath the stars in Kalbarri National Park when you can hold an event like none other at the newly opened Kalbarri Skywalk, a metal platform that juts out over the Murchison River flowing through the gorge 100 metres below, or take a scenic flight over Hutt Lagoon, an otherworldly lake just outside of Kalbarri that dazzles the eye with its bright pink colouring thanks to its high salt content.

Kalbarri is approximately 6 hours’ drive north of Perth, or you can take a quick 50 minute flight to Geraldton with Qantas and drive 90 minutes north to arrive at Kalbarri.

The only city on the Coral Coast, Geraldton has established itself as a contemporary coastal hub of cafes, shops, street art and galleries. The city’s history and culture complement its laid-back coastal vibe, providing the perfect mix of action and relaxation. Geraldton’s beaches and sunny climate make it popular with water sport enthusiasts and visitors looking to soak up the sun on the pristine white sand.

The region of Geraldton extends south to the historic town of Greenough and to Ellendale Pool, a stunning waterhole naturally formed along the Greenough River. Inland is Chapman Valley, home to beautiful rolling hills, scenic drives, wildflowers and microbrews, and Mullewa, situated in the heart of wildflower country and rich with architectural heritage. To the west, you’ll find the Houtman Abrolhos Islands, a pristine archipelago brimming with beauty, marine adventures and history.

The regions largest dedicated conference venue, the Batavia Coast Conference Centre, can host conferences of up to 320 delegates, and is the newest conference centre in regional Western Australia.

SHARK BAY REGION

A wonderland of world-class natural attractions, the Shark Bay World Heritage Area was the first location in Western Australia to receive UNESCO status in 1991.

The area meets four of the ten required natural criteria and remains one of only a handful of places in the world to achieve this high-criteria status level. The colourful and diverse landscapes, rare flora and fauna and world-class examples of Earth’s ecological processes all contribute to the region’s World Heritage listing. The area contains plant species that are unique and considered new to science, as well as five of Australia’s 26 species of endangered native mammals and 35% of all of Australia’s bird species.

The 12 species of seagrass found in Shark Bay cover over 4,000 square kilometres (approximately the size of the Perth metropolitan area) and support a high diversity of fauna such as dolphins, fish, turtles and crustaceans. This seagrass is a vital food source for one of the most stable dugong populations in the world, with over 10,000 dugongs inhabiting the Shark Bay region. The region is also home to the longest studied pod of dolphins in the world, residing in Monkey Mia.

Shark Bay is approximately 8 hours, 30 minutes’ drive north of Perth (to Denham), or a two hour flight with Regional Express Airlines.

Stretching 300 kilometers from Carnarvon’s Red Bluff to the Muiron Islands in the north and Exmouth Gulf’s Bundegi Beach in the east, the Ningaloo Reef is regarded as one of the world’s last great ocean paradises. The UNESCO Ningaloo Coast World Heritage Area was established in 2011. Encompassing the Ningaloo Marine Park, which protects the Reef and Coastal Reserves as well as land-based wonders like Cape Range National Park, the area received its world heritage listing due to its marine and terrestrial properties, such as rare flora and fauna including the whale shark - 300 to 500 of these megafauna congregate at Ningaloo each year!

The Ningaloo Region of Australia’s Coral Coast encompasses the towns of Carnarvon, Coral Bay and Exmouth. Ningaloo also offers great connections to other incredible parts of Western Australia, including Kennedy Range National Park (three hours’ drive east of Carnarvon), Karijini National Park (eight hours’ drive east of Exmouth), and Onslow and the Mackerel Islands (four hours’ drive north of Exmouth).

The Ningaloo Region is easily accessed by air; Regional Express Airlines flies between Perth and Carnarvon, while Qantas flies between Perth and Exmouth’s Learmonth Airport.

Kalgoorlie, the most populous town in the region, is connected to Perth by multiple daily flights, as well as weekly flights to Melbourne. Kalgoorlie Boulder and the Goldfields offer a real Australian outback adventure and a fascinating insight into the region’s colourful gold rush history.

The towns and small communities of the Goldfields were built following the discovery of gold in the 1890s, and while multimillion-dollar mining corporations have replaced the smaller gold prospecting operators and Kalgoorlie-Boulder has been transformed into a modern cosmopolitan town, reminders of the wild and vibrant early days are everywhere you look.

Immerse your delegates in the history of the region and try your luck at gold prospecting and fossicking, or visit one of the largest open cut gold mines in Australia - the Kalgoorlie Super Pit, which can be seen from space, and serves as a stark point of difference to the rustic methods previously employed to collect gold in the region.

Virgin and Qantas operate multiple flights daily between Kalgoorlie and Perth, while the town is connected to Australia’s eastern States through Virgin’s weekly Melbourne direct route.

Fields of vibrant spring wildflowers are a huge attraction of the Gascoyne Murchison region in Western Australia’s Golden Outback, not to mention the towering monolith of Mount Augustus, the world’s biggest rock, and inspiring self-drive trails, including the Gascoyne Murchison Outback Pathways. This series of three self-drive trails will open your delegates eyes to the wonders of the landscape and its history and includes the Miners Pathway, Wool Wagon Pathway and Kingsford Smith Mail Run.

On these incredible journeys your delegates can learn about the drovers who first opened up the pastoral lands and the gold prospectors who triggered a population explosion.
