AUSTRALIA’S NORTH WEST
Overview
There’s no better place to get delegates together than at a business event in Australia’s North West, where function spaces have views of the sparkling turquoise ocean, gala dinners can be held on remote sandy beaches, and incentive activities blend the future with the past as you hunt for dinosaur footprints in ancient landscapes that can be accessed by purpose built shallow landing vessels. A billion years in the making, the North West region is one of Earth’s last true wilderness areas.
Major towns include Broome and Kununurra, which are both located in the Kimberley region, and the mining towns of Karratha and Port Hedland, found in the resource-rich Pilbara region.
With horizontal waterfalls, staircases to the moon, and ancient untouched gorges waiting to greet you, Australia’s North West is truly a place of wonder and adventure.

If you’re looking for eco-retreats and beachfront resorts to host your next business event at, you’re in the right place. Australia’s North West is a region in touch with it’s natural surrounds, and the venues and accommodation on offer here are inspired by their environment in every element.
KIMBERLEY REGION
Covering nearly 423,000 square kilometres, the ancient Kimberley region has fewer people per square kilometre than almost any other place on Earth.
Hidden in the region’s heart, remarkable landscapes, spectacular gorges and thundering waterfalls provide the perfect backdrop for a Kimberley adventure in Western Australia’s north. On the region’s coast lie some of the world’s most beautiful beaches, untouched coral atolls and rugged islands with an amazing variety of marine life.
The largest town in the region, Broome, sits at the western end of the Kimberley region, and offers a variety of resort accommodation for visiting business travellers. Broome’s largest property, Cable Beach Club Resort & Spa, has facilities for conferences of up to 250 delegates, with 225 accommodation rooms within the resort. A pearling town, Broome is home to a multicultural population, with the pearling boom of the early 20th century bringing people from all over the world seeking to make their fortune.
Kununurra, the eastern gateway to the Kimberley, is the perfect base to explore Western Australia’s World Heritage listed Purnululu National Park, featuring the famous beehive-shaped Bungle Bungles, or Lake Argyle, one of the largest freshwater lakes in the southern hemisphere.
PILBARA REGION
Western Australia’s epic Pilbara region is twice the size of the United Kingdom and home to some of the world’s most stunning ancient natural landscapes, dating back 3.5 - 4.3 billion years.
With over 700 historic Aboriginal archaeological sites and more than 1,000,000 rock engravings (Petroglyphs), many dating back some 30,000 years, the Murujuga National Park (Burrup Peninsula) is the perfect place for your delegates to discover the unique art, history and culture of the Aboriginal people of the Pilbara.
Deep rocky canyons lead to peaceful plunge pools in the beautiful Karijini National Park, where you can host a smaller corporate group for a glamping experience at Karijini Eco Retreat. Hundreds of islands with dazzling white beaches and untouched coral gardens are yours to explore on the Dampier Archipelago and Mackerel Islands. And yet the Pilbara is also known as the engine room of Australia - home to a massive mining industry in crude oil, salt, natural gas and iron ore. The Pilbara offers an incredible juxtaposition of industrial strength and pristine nature.
Head to Karratha and hold a conference at the Red Earth Arts Precinct, which opened in 2018 and can host up 470 delegates. Drawing inspiration from Karratha’s natural surrounds and resource rich land, the Red Earth Arts Precinct offers cutting edge technology and modern conferencing options, so you don’t have to make any compromises when visiting this remote mining town.
No matter where you roam in the Pilbara, you will be surprised and delighted with the hidden treasures it holds.

SHARK BAY REGION
A wonderland of world-class natural attractions, the Shark Bay World Heritage Area was the first location in Western Australia to receive UNESCO status in 1991.
The area meets four of the ten required natural criteria and remains one of only a handful of places in the world to achieve this high-criteria status level. The colourful and diverse landscapes, rare flora and fauna and world-class examples of Earth’s ecological processes all contribute to the region’s World Heritage listing. The area contains plant species that are unique and considered new to science, as well as five of Australia’s 26 species of endangered native mammals and 35% of all of Australia’s bird species.
The 12 species of seagrass found in Shark Bay cover over 4,000 square kilometres (approximately the size of the Perth metropolitan area) and support a high diversity of fauna such as dolphins, fish, turtles and crustaceans. This seagrass is a vital food source for one of the most stable dugong populations in the world, with over 10,000 dugongs inhabiting the Shark Bay region. The region is also home to the longest studied pod of dolphins in the world, residing in Monkey Mia.
Shark Bay is approximately 8 hours, 30 minutes’ drive north of Perth (to Denham), or a two hour flight with Regional Express Airlines.

Stretching 300 kilometers from Carnarvon’s Red Bluff to the Muiron Islands in the north and Exmouth Gulf’s Bundegi Beach in the east, the Ningaloo Reef is regarded as one of the world’s last great ocean paradises. The UNESCO Ningaloo Coast World Heritage Area was established in 2011. Encompassing the Ningaloo Marine Park, which protects the Reef and Coastal Reserves as well as land-based wonders like Cape Range National Park, the area received its world heritage listing due to its marine and terrestrial properties, such as rare flora and fauna including the whale shark - 300 to 500 of these megafauna congregate at Ningaloo each year!

GOLDEN OUTBACK REGION
Nature reveals her full spectrum of colours in the Golden Outback. Capture contrasts where red earth meets Australia’s whitest sands at Lucky Bay, and technicolour fields are filled with wildflowers found nowhere else on Earth.
This vast region, which covers 54% of Western Australia, is home to an array of incredible experiences. Here, you can step into the world’s largest outdoor art gallery, surf one of Australia’s biggest waves at Wave Rock, or climb Mount Augustus, a monolith that’s twice the size of Uluru. Discover ancient Aboriginal culture and rock paintings, drive the Golden Quest Discovery Trail for a unique off-road adventure through Goldfields history, or set up camp under an immense night sky and spot constellations you’ve never seen before.
At the very heart of Western Australia’s Golden Outback lies the modern mining hub of Kalgoorlie and the Goldfields, offering fascinating insights into the history and heritage of the wild gold rush days. As the regions largest town, Kalgoorlie is a thriving cosmopolitan hub.

ACCESS
Australia’s Golden Outback can be accessed by road, rail, or air, depending on your destination. Kalgoorlie, the most populous town in the region, is connected to Perth by multiple daily flights, as well as weekly flights to Melbourne. Tourism hotspot Esperance is serviced by multiple daily flights to Perth.
WEATHER
The weather and climate in Western Australia’s Golden Outback, which takes up more than half of Western Australia, varies considerably as you travel across the region.
KALGOORLIE AND GOLDFIELDS REGION
Kalgoorlie Boulder and the Goldfields offer a real Australian outback adventure and a fascinating insight into the region’s colourful gold rush history.
The towns and small communities of the Goldfields were built following the discovery of gold in the 1890’s, and while multimillion-dollar mining corporations have replaced the smaller gold prospecting operators and Kalgoorlie-Boulder has been transformed into a modern cosmopolitan town, reminders of the wild and vibrant early days are everywhere you look.
Immerse your delegates in the history of the region and try your luck at gold prospecting and fossicking, or visit one of the largest open cut gold mines in Australia - the Kalgoorlie Super Pit, which can be seen from space, and serves as a stark point of difference to the rustic methods previously employed to collect gold in the region.
Virgin and Qantas operate multiple flights daily between Kalgoorlie and Perth, while the town is connected to Australia’s eastern States through Virgin’s weekly Melbourne direct route.
The largest venue in the region for business events, the Goldfields Arts Centre, can host business events of up to 700 delegates.
WHEATBELT AND WAVE ROCK REGION
The Western Australian Wheatbelt is home to the world-famous Wave Rock, as well as character townships, miles of golden fields, charming rural farms and great outback self-drive adventures. A short drive from Perth, this region offers an escape from the hustle and bustle of city life for business events to be taken at a slower pace.
Wave Rock, near Hyden is the most recognised tourist attraction in the region – an amazing rock formation stretching 100 metres and standing 15 metres high in the shape of a giant wave about to crash over the surrounding bush.
Experience the very best of the region’s country charm and rich pioneering history by visiting the character outback pubs, exploring the quaint main streets and meeting the friendly locals of the towns. If you’re planning an incentive trip for a smaller corporate group, show them a true Australian farm experience with a stay at one of the many farm stays, where delegates can get up close with cute farmyard animals and enjoy good homecooked food and deliciously fresh local produce, from wines and preserves to olive oil and yabbies.
ESPERANCE AND FITZGERALD COAST REGION
Esperance and the Fitzgerald Coast, located on the south coast of Western Australia, boast some of the State’s most pristine and untouched coastal scenery, national parks and marine playgrounds.
The brilliant blue waters, snow-white beaches and over 100 islands create a dazzling contrast to the red earth of the surrounding outback. This region is the perfect place to introduce your delegates to the best of Western Australia’s natural beauty.
The township of Esperance is an ideal base from which to explore a string of stunning beaches and the natural wonders on the south coast of Western Australia, including Cape Le Grand National Park, Cape Arid National Park and the paradise islands of the Recherche Archipelago.
GASCOYNE MURCHISON REGION
The Gascoyne Murchison region in Australia’s Golden Outback is characterised by miles of rich red earth, rugged rock formations, vast cattle stations and towns built on the dreams of the wild gold rush era.
Fields of vibrant spring wildflowers are a huge attraction of the Gascoyne Murchison region in Western Australia’s Golden Outback, not to mention the towering monolith of Mount Augustus, the world’s biggest rock, and inspiring self-drive trails, including the Gascoyne Murchison Outback Pathways. This series of three self-drive trails will open your delegates eyes to the wonders of the landscape and its history and includes the Miners Pathway, Wool Wagon Pathway and Kingsford Smith Mail Run.
On these incredible journeys your delegates can learn about the drovers who first opened up the pastoral lands and the gold prospectors who triggered a population explosion. They’ll also discover the history of transport, the riveting tales of the original traditional custodians and the region’s ancient rock formations.
