When designing a print advertisement or examining the poster advertisement you have had designed for you there is a few things you should remember. Sometimes the flashiest ads don’t always work out the best, the same goes in reverse to. You don’t want to cram all this information that potential customers will just skim past, but you also don’t want to have too little information as want them intrigued into what it is you are actually selling and/or offering. You have to ask yourself, does the ad grab the desired attention to the product and/or service you are putting forward, you want your ad to portray your message quickly and without guessing what it is the last thing you want is it to be to informative that the message just gets lost in clutter. Does your product/message target the appropriate audience to who you want it to be received by? Is it worth remembering or was it just worth a look? Remember with advertisement, the first impressions are everything you don’t have a “retry” there is no communication with your desired audience, they should be well planned out and catchy to your targeted audience to influence their opinion on your product. Thinking outside the box will help but don’t think too far out there or people will be looking at your ad thinking “huh”.

Having just the one product/message being portrayed on the advertisement is the ideal way to maximise your ads success rate, that is the only thing catching the eye of your desired audience they will remember that one very thing if it has been portrayed correctly. Rather than say having 10 things on an advertisement page and you are roaming everywhere. You have at most 30 seconds to grab someone’s attention with your print advertisement before they move (aka bouncing) on so you need ask yourself does my print advertisement grab their attention? Ultimately, it all boils down to what product/message you are putting out there; everyone’s ads will have different needs and purposes. Some advertisements will benefit from having a range of products advertised, others won’t. Or maybe all your advertisement needs is a simple picture which can be easily portrayed with just a web-site link at the bottom (you would be surprised as to how much these ads do work). Take the time to go over your advertisement before releasing them make sure you feel comfortable with it if you have a tiny doubt about it get it sorted, for when it’s gone to print it is too late.
