Welcome to the 2024 Fall Parade of Homes!

It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I extend to you a warm welcome to the 2024 Fall Parade of Homes! As the President of the Home Builders Association of Columbia, I am honored to have the opportunity to showcase the remarkable talent and craftsmanship of our local home builders.

Our community is fortunate to have an abundance of skilled contractors who pour their hearts and souls into each and every project. The homes on display during this parade are a testament to their dedication, expertise, and unwavering commitment to excellence. In addition to our home builders, I would be remiss not to acknowledge the invaluable contributions of our local vendors and suppliers who work tirelessly behind the scenes to help these homes come to life. I would also like to give special thanks to our Parade of Homes committee, which is made up entirely of volunteers, and our Executive Officer, Jami Clevenger. Without their time, effort, and a tremendous amount of planning, this event could not happen.

To enhance your parade experience, I encourage you to download our mobile app where you can explore detailed information, view photos, vote for your favorite homes, and customize a personalized parade route. We invite you to visit our website to download the app and learn more.

On behalf of the HBA of Columbia, I’d like to thank you for supporting our local home builders by participating in this event. Enjoy the parade!

Your adventure viewing beautiful one-of-a-kind homes in the Columbia area awaits.

EVolve® is a time-of-use rate in which energy consumed during specific time periods will be charged certain rates. Boone Electric offers on-peak, off-peak and super-off peak periods. It empowers members to shape their own energy bill. The more tasks you can shift to when the cost is low, the lower your bill will be. While it's difficult to change the time you heat and cool your home, it can be fairly easy to adjust the time you do other things like laundry, dishes or charging an electric vehicle. Can you provide a brief overview of some of your recent construction projects? We primarily build well designed custom homes for our clients. Our most recent model home was just completed and is in this Parade of Homes , it features some of the newest design ideas and technologies!

Have you implemented any innovative construction technologies or practices in your projects that you are excited about? Our new Old Hawthorne Model Home has two new features that we are excited to showcase this year! This home has a Laundry Jet system that will carry your dirty laundry from any bedroom in the home to the laundry room. This home also features stunning backlight bar countertops. How do you stay updated with the latest industry trends and advancements? Our amazing interior designer, Becky Erdel, does a great job of keeping us all up to date on the latest design trends and styles.

Have you received any awards or recognition for your work in the construction industry? We have received over 15 various awards for our homes. Many of which have been awarded by the Columbia HBA Parade of Homes.

Do you have any hobbies and what is your favorite thing to do in Columbia? One of my favorite hobbies right now is aviation. A little over a year ago I got my pilots license. I was hooked after my first discovery flight. One of my favorite Columbia activities is attending Mizzou Football and tailgate events in the fall.

How long have you been in and what made you get into the construction industry? 20+ Years. After leaving the military and selling a local axle shop, Russ built his first personal house. After doing so, he realized he was good at it and wanted to do it for other people, which is where Anderson Homes began.

How large is your construction team, and what are your areas of expertise? Our company has 29 full-time employees, and is growing rapidly. We completed 81 projects in 2023, and are expecting around 100 projects in 2024. We specialize in Custom Homes, Move-In Ready, and Remodels.

Can you provide a brief overview of some of your recent construction projects? We are currently doing a lot of custom homes and move-in ready projects. Currently there are over 90 under construction in the Columbia area. Our projects range from 1500 sq ft slab homes all the way to multi-million dollar custom builds. Quite the variety!

What notable projects you have completed? We have built many homes in the Columbia, now totaling over 500.

What innovative construction technologies or practices in your projects are you excited about? We are working with companies like AireSolutions in Columbia that are bringing new HVAC technology into the construction world and we also utilize software that allows our clients to track the process of their home as it’s being built.

Are you involved with any non-profit or charitable organizations in our local community? Yes! We created the Anderson Homes Foundation, in which we are building homes at cost for low-income families in partnership with Love Columbia, allowing those families to have a nice place to live and have strong equity positions in the homes.

Build With Swift

How long have you been in the construction Industry? Over 30 years.

What made you get into the construction industry? Friend of the family owned a sod business, and my dad gave me no choice. My Grandfather owned a construction company, and my father did most of the renovations to their home.

How large is your construction team, and what are your areas of expertise? We currently have 16 employees.

Can you provide a brief overview of some of your recent construction projects? We have completed several bathroom and kitchen remodels. Currently started an apartment complex remodel in Lawrence, KS.

Have you implemented any innovative construction technologies or practices in your projects that you are excited about? I started out in the multi-family apartment construction world and that’s a mixture of residential and commercial. I like to think I bring the “what can we do next and how can we do it better” mentality of the commercial industry into our company, combining residential perfection with commercial efficiency. One of our top priorities is proper safety training and practices, such as safety manuals and meetings, implementing CRMP programs, all the way down to the safety of our client’s home and possessions. At Swift we pride ourselves on how we treat our clients and how we treat their homes. We treat your home like it was our own…truthfully, we act like it’s our momma’s house and we don’t want her to be upset. To achieve this, we protect your space from day one from entry point to workspace with heavy duty floor protection specific to flooring type, plastic wall systems with zip or magnetic doors for dust control, a HEPA rated air scrubber for the entire demo phase or up until it’s not needed, and cabinet or counter top protection upon install until job completion.

Hansman Custom Homes

How long have you been in the construction Industry? 30 years total. 21 years independently as Hansman Custom Homes.

What made you get into the construction industry? I started with a part-time job during high school and college. I discovered I enjoyed the work — and being outside — so I stuck with it.

How large is your construction team, and what are your areas of expertise? There are 2 of us, plus some great sub-contractors. I manage sites and schedule while Monica takes care of selections and customers.

What are some recent or notable projects you have completed? We just finished a roof off of a full second floor addition with a second phase partial remodel of the main floor, while maintaining the livability and integrity of the existing space. A couple of past projects that were interesting: a wooden barn rebuild after a fire; then the same customer had us pull part of the main floor off their house, add on, remodel and rebuild.

Do you implement eco-friendly or sustainable building practices in your projects? We use a lot of manufactured and engineered wood products throughout our homes. From framing to flooring and cabinets. High efficiency HVAC systems as well as tankless water heaters are common. Of course energy star appliances and led lighting are standard. We also emphasize reducing waste and reusing as much as possible. Concrete, framing, and other exterior work is a great time to reuse and reduce waste.

Tell us a bit about your family. Monica and I have been married 18 fantastic years and have two wonderful sons, one is starting 4th grade, and the other is a brand new driver starting 10th.

Is there anything else about your business and/or yourself that we should know? We are a local business partnering with local suppliers and sub-contractors to provide one-on-one service.
