MALAYBALAY City – As an effort to support the growth of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) operating in the province, the local office of the Department of Trade and Industry conducted a free business training last June 2 and participated by the province’s business entrepreneurs and those still learning the trade. The said entrepreneurial training was just the start of a series of trainings to be undertaken by DTI-Bukidnon for the month of June. The free trainings will be conducted every Thursday of the week from 1:00-5:00 p.m and will be open to all interested to learn MSMEs skill.—ANN NOBLE

SMB bottling plant in Oro
LOCAL beer giant San Miguel Brewery is opening up four new bottling plants in Laguna, Isabela, Bicol and Cayagan de Oro worth about $100 million this year, thereby expanding its bottling capacity by 30 percent. It also plans to set up brewery plants in Laos and Cambodia, SMB chairman Ramon S. Ang told reporters at the sidelines of the beer brewery’s annual stockholders’ meeting. SMB is also in talks with Kirin to dilute their combined stake in order to comply with the 10 percent minimum public float required by the PSE. A public offering shall be conducted to expand public float by November this year, Ang said.

MISAMIS Oriental Gov. Oscar S. Moreno has called on antismoking advocates not to give up in its fight against smoking. “Please don’t get tired in advocating your cause,” he said. “Smoking indeed is very hazardous,” Mr. Moreno said as he shared how he was able to stop it and underwent operations to cure its effects.
