PASS Finding the area of study that’s best for you is often a journey in itself. Through Exploratory Studies, you’ll work closely with an advisor to explore the many possibilities that you have at Butler and to discover your strengths before fully immersing yourself in a major.

Annabella Cobos ’22

Major: Marketing Minor: Journalism Coming into Butler as an Exploratory Studies student, Annabella Cobos was determined to choose classes that sparked her interest and helped her find her path. One of these courses was LC103, an Exploratory Studies course where she was able to learn about all of the majors and minors offered at Butler and to also learn about her own strengths and passions. Throughout her first year of college, Cobos continued to choose classes in subjects that she found interesting, set aside time to talk with her academic

advisor and her professors, and continued to reflect on her interests. At the beginning of her sophomore year, she felt confident in declaring her major and minor. “I have learned so much about myself and what I’d like my future career to look like because of the time I spent in the Exploratory Studies program,” says Cobos. “It’s okay if you don’t know what you want to study right away. Trust yourself. Acknowledge your strengths and talents and take classes that utilize your skills. College is a time to explore who you are and who you want to be.”
