Encompassing more than 50 programs ranging from the humanities, to social sciences, to interdisciplinary programs, to the natural sciences, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS) is designed to open your mind to new ways of thinking.
You’ll engage in timeless learning practices, hone your professional communication skills, conduct research, learn how to question everything, and carefully apply theory to develop new insights.
With the unwavering support of your faculty mentors, you’ll build professional portfolios through involvement in research, servicelearning, and internship opportunities. You’ll graduate with the ability to analyze information, think creatively, clearly communicate ideas, and make values-based decisions.
“Professors at Butler really care about you and your success. And being a student in LAS means you get to explore lots of different subjects while choosing your own path. I can take a Political Science course one semester and an Anthropology course the next. I also really appreciate the commitment to diversity that I’ve seen in the classroom—we discuss feminism, racial inequality, and other important topics in many of my classes.”
