“I really appreciate Butler’s emphasis on undergraduate research. Lectures can’t ever teach the exact process of solving a problem that appears in research—it’s important to have hands-on work, too.”
Josh WanningerAstronomy & Astrophysics and Physics double major Pursuing research on RR Lyrae stars
“My biggest piece of advice to prospective students would be to put in the extra effort to build connections with your classmates and your professors. Because of Butler’s small size and attentive faculty, you can build great relationships that help you gain access to research, academic, and internship opportunities. Make the most of your time here!”

ADVISORS. MENTORS. FRIENDS.
At Butler, your professors won’t just know your name. They’ll probably know your hometown, your go-to campus study spot, and your favorite pizza topping. We’re talking about a student-to-faculty ratio of 11-to-1, meaning your professors will get plenty of chances to find out what drives you. This all starts from day one at Butler.
“My relationship with my faculty mentor, Dr. McCormick, has been super individualized. I’m treated as an individual student with my own dreams, goals, and aspirations. I’ve not been pushed down a path that every student studying business should go down. I’ve been given the tools and resources to go down my own path, while knowing that support is still there if I need anything.
