I was a high school student that attended one of Texas's poorest school districts, Edgewood ISD in San Antonio, Texas. The school was comprised of students with low socioeconomic status that were a result of low educational attainment and financial issues. An example was the amount of students obtaining a high school diploma and those wanting to pursue a college degree were extremely low because there wasn't much support or talk of college education or high school. It is stated nowhere. Education should be about becoming enlightened to the works of the world. I am not saying becoming a lawyer or a business person is wrong or inimical. What I am saying is being a artist or philosopher is just as advantageous. In fact art and philosophy should be made standard issue in schools. We all need to know how to think for ourselves. Assessment by definition is formal attempts to determine students' knowledge, skills, and attitudes students must attain in order to master a subject matter. Teacher's should assess or measure students capability to grasp a more precise concept or knowledge of what a student is capable of doing. Education is a crucial part of life, it influences the way people think, speak, talk, write and react to the world around them. However, education is much more than just an influence, it is a part of life itself. These basic courses are part of a program called general education. After completing general education (which usually takes about two years), the students can then begin to study for their degree.
