During this semester in English 107, I have progressed more as a writer. Before I went to University of Arizona, my writing was rigid. I wrote five–paragraph TOEFL style essay all the time in my high school life. After I attended in English 107, I was not confident about my writing skill. Throughout these three projects we have done, I become more and more confident about my writing skill than before. The Student Learning Outcomes also helped me to grow as a writer a lot. In these goals, I did well on several of them, but I still need to work on the other goals. This success goal is about my narrative paper. It relates to goal 1b, which is analyzing the ways a text's purposes, audience, and contexts influence rhetorical options. In this paper,...show more content...

I always realized the better ways after I did something wrong. I will still work on this part and grow as a better writer.
Success Goal The second success goal is 2f, which is compose persuasive researched arguments for various audiences and purposes, and in multiple modalities. In project two, I have to interview someone and introduce the community that he stays in. I introduced a famous university in China. I collected so many information on its official website, but the only fault beside grammar errors was that I wrote a lot of different aspects of campus life and lost the point that I want to provide. I have to admit that I rushed this paper in the midnight before the due date. It cause some formats in profile essay are wrong. For example, I didn't use MLA format on the citation part. Even I forgot to put space between my sentences. If I do my work early, I will have enough time to double check my work. I believe that I will get a better grade, if I work on my essay early. As a writer in English 102 I learned different styles and techniques when writing an essay. Even though having to transition from high school to college was really difficult to comprehend. Especially, the learning styles that I was given such as hegemony, ideology and other cultural studies that I wasn't familiarized with. However, I take my time off and fully understand what these concepts really mean. I started to read the big red book and take notes about cultural studies in class. Hegemony and ideology started to make sense. I can understand how our society shapes these cultural studies. Especially, wealth because this power can truly change people. That is why power is only meant for certain people, it also makes sense that if every individual really want power our society would corrupt. Imagine everyone in our society having lavage lifestyles. The economy will go downhill because who needs a job when you have lots of money. Also, they don't even want to bother the things concerning our economy and/ or our environment. It is why applying cultural studies outside the classroom can help understand the importance of power. The example I mention also creates...show more content...

Sometimes when you write an essay you feel so confident about it that you think it might bring you your fifteen minutes of fame. However, most times it just brings you fifteen minutes of disappointment when you see the grade you got. Writing is not an easy process. Just like any other skill, it requires lots of attention and lots of learning. In a way, writing is like a business. If you continue to work on it and learn new things about it, it will grow and prosper, but if you become stagnant in your learning and operations you are sure to lose everything that you've worked for. In that sense, Writing 101 has allowed me to continue to learn more about writing, which in turn has drastically improved it. Throughout this Writing 101 course, my...show more content...
Before this Writing 101 course, I would have never turned to a peer–reviewed source for information, and I probably would have never known what a peer–reviewed source was. However, I now know how to utilize peer–reviewed sources in order to keep a reader's attention. Along with the credible sources I learned to use, I also learned that it is important to use the voice of others in your work. Sometimes, you can get your reader's attention if you offer some else's point of view. In Essay 3, I was able to use an interview I did with Belle Helnore in order to offer another person's perspective on the issue I was discussing. In my essay I said, When I asked her about how she felt about her student debt, if she had any, she told me, "It's always left me with a little bit of stress because I don't know how I'm going to pay it off after I graduate." Belle also mentioned that she worried about costs outside of her student loans, such as all the costs of living that her parents have been paying for her whole life. These costs included car insurance, car registration, housing bills, phone bills, etc. In this piece, I was able to allow Belle to tell the audience about her college experience. This caught reader's attention by offering another perspective that I could not have

Ratio Analysis
Ratios are a method of summarising and presenting financial information in an easily understandable form. They are used to assist us in assessing the performance of a business by identifying relationships between different figures that are considered to be significant. Ratios can be split into five groups, these five groups are:
1. Cash Flow – These ratios measure the businesses ability to meet financial commitments from cash flow.
2. Liquidity – These assess the businesses ability to meet the current liabilities as they fall due.

The Interest Cash Cover is an indication of the businesses ability to service total interest commitments from cash generated from operations. Compared to the Interest Cover ratio in the stake section this ratio gives a far better indicator, given that profit is not equivalent to cash.
The interest cash cover figure for 2004 shows that Allied Waste Disposal plc can meet its interest commitments just over 63 times from its operations. This is a decrease f just under 7%, this can be due to two reasons; the first is an increase in the amount of interest paid, the second is an increase in the cash flow from operations or it can be both of these factors.

Writing An Assignment Analysis
When I write an assignment, from a simple analysis to a research paper, I always start with writing an outline. The outline helps me with the flow of my writing and reminds me where my work will take me. The outline keeps me organized in my thoughts and aids in the comprehension of my writing; it will start out very broad and eventually becomes very specific so the essay is easier to write. I have gotten into the habit of writing outlines when I would write any assignment during my sophomore year of high school. My teacher would require us to write outlines for major writing assignments which developed my habit to write an outline for any assignment. After the outline, I begin writing the assignment and edit while I write. I do this by briefly

Writing Self-Analysis
At the beginning of the semester we were asked to review our strengths and weaknesses as writers. In the first discussion post I stated, "My first weakness [is that] I have trouble concluding thoughts and, upon review, often have a rambling mess on my hands" (Multani). Although my first project was to the point and concise, most likely due to the brevity of the project, with the greater word limit for the second project, it was something I, again, struggled with. For example in my first draft, I often caught myself repeating things for two sentences in a row, or restating something I had already stated. From a rhetorical standpoint, I think it weakens the impact of the argument made if each sentence's core idea is a repetition of stated information....show more content...
On the recommendation of peer review, I made some simple adjustments. As stated during the face–to–face review, using a five–syllable word for a one–syllable word is sometimes unnecessary (Fedewa). At first glance, I thought I explained most of the technical terminology pretty well. There was, however, a specific instance where I think my thought process was incomplete and even those experienced in the field would have had a hard time understanding what was said. In my first draft, I had written about physiological and psychological addiction and dependence. The difference between the two is often confusing, even for those well versed in the field. Instead of using this terminology I decided to use analogies and examples that aided the reader in understanding the difference between the two and as such probably depicted a clearer picture of what I was trying to convey. I think through this class and especially for this project, the thing that I have the greatest improvement in is my use for imagery to help get my message across. Ironically, this was not one of my goals at the beginning of the semester only because I didn't realize the impact of

My Writing Assignment Analysis
When beginning any writing assignment, it can be a rocky start. It involves critical thinking and applying to your writing. First, you have to be skilled and be prepared in writing to get where you want to be. Therefore, my writing was complicated until I got into writing better than before. There comes a time when you have to start from scratch and work until you earn what you deserved. It was complicated to figure out what to write about, and to be precise. At first, I had adequatewriting skills, but as I progressed through middle and high school, I have made vast improvements in my writing.
At a young age, my skills were limited, I had little knowledge about writing. While in elementary school, writing was introduced to allow us as a way to express what was on our minds. This class has helped me to learn to take the little steps along the way because then there will not be as much work to do towards the end. This has also made me realize that the final product of my writing will turn out better because it will have had more time to develop, which means that there would have been more opportunities to proofread. I think by learning many styles of writing, such as paraphrasing, summarizing, analyzing, and researching; it has enabled me to be able to write more broadly. The writing process is separated into five different stages, prewriting, drafting, editing, revising, and publishing. When going throughout this process I feel that it is important to check your progress quite frequently. After you complete each stage of the writing process it is always acceptable to proofread and if need be, edit your work. There are certain questions you may ask yourself as you undergo composing an essay, novel, or legal piece of work. For example, in the first stage of the writing process, prewriting, you can ask yourself how and what you will be disputing. Also at this point you can get opinions from various individuals about the topic of your essay. Stage two, drafting, is where your thoughts begin to come together.

Within the article Analyze, Don't Summarize, Michael BГ©rubГ© an English professor at the University of Pennsylvania, explained to his colleges in a sarcastic but very casual way that students should analyze a paper instead of summarize it. He started to explain why students should analyze with an anecdote of a student asking him an interesting question about his grading system, which at that moment he did not have one because it was the first time for him teaching an English–literature class section at the University of Virginia. He knew what an Apaper looks like just by looking at it but that was not enough to explain in detail what his grading system was. Freewriting exercises that I have been accomplishing could have promoted the nonstop writing process as Peter Elbow suggests that "the most effective way I know to improve your writing is to do freewriting exercise regularly" (1). Freewriting encourages constant writing because it discourages editing until the concerned topic has been exhausted. Through the practice of uninterrupted writing, information is flowing freely. Unfortunately, several errors can be made since the focus is primarily on writing, and not editing. However, most often I would return to the brainstorming stage after drafting a document. Returning to the brainstorming step is important because it offers a chance to modify and streamline the thesis. After writing a draft, some new ideologies and data could be attained or dismissed. Further, re–brainstorming may aid in attainment of more information and connections with the thesis. Hence, it is vital to revisit the thesis through brainstorming Get

When it writing an essay reviewing a book, flash cards are must. I have my quote on one side and then my explanation and transition on the other. I do this for every quote so when it is time for my rough draft to be put together, most of the work is finished; I just have to put them together as numbered. In my senior year of high school, I did an essay on Robert McMcrumb's The Story of English. I had so many quotes that I had to pick certain ones that were the most important. In my health class, we were asked to write a story about our middle school years.
