Watchmen,byDCComics,shouldbeconsideredaliteraryworkforitsgreatuseofrealismand deconstruction,storytellingandsubplots,andthefocusonpersonalcharacterdevelopmentandtheir moralcodesWatchmenutilizestheseaspectsinawaythatmakesthereaderchangethewaythey thinkabouttheirpopularcultureandwhatisvaluabletothem.Theseaspectshelpsolidifytheidea thatWatchmenisthefirstinanewbreedofcomics,oneinwhichtheymakethetransitionfrom fantasytoliterature.Itisaworkthatisrecognizedbymanyasarevolutionarycomicseries,andis evenlaudedasoneofthebestnovelsandmostsignificantworksofthe20thcentury.Ithas solidifieditsplaceasaculturalclassicinAmericaanditwouldbeinjudicioustonotseeWatchmen asaliterarywork.
