From the Field

I trust everyone has had a safe and productive summer and Mother Nature has been plentiful with the rainfall. The calendar does not fail to keep moving forward — it is hard to believe I am over three months into this role as your Territory 5 fieldman for the AHA. This initial stint has been filled with lots of hand shaking, herd visits, great conversations with breeders all across the region, and numerous Hereford activities that have kept the schedule booked.

I was able to be present for the junior show at the Ohio State Fair, and what a fantastic event it was. Congratulations to all the winners from both the junior and open portions of the show — it was evident the judges were impressed with the quality of cattle the breeders and exhibitors presented to them throughout the show. As we turn the page past state fair season, the fall schedule is slated to be packed with lots of opportunities to purchase breed leading genetics from the heart

of some incredible progressive programs. If you have interest in the cattle being marketed this fall and would like any assistance in purchasing these genetics, please feel free to contact me as I would be happy to assist in any way. Additionally, there are several marketing opportunities for Hereford-influenced feeder cattle in the months ahead. Likewise, let me know if I can help in getting you or a customer linked with the proper contacts to reach their calf crop’s full potential value.

It’s not too early to start planning to join us for the World Hereford Conference that will take place October 2025 right here domestically in Kansas City. We look forward to welcoming all of our foreign friends from across the globe to the United States to celebrate our breed. More information about the event as well as registration can be found on the AHA website.

As we progress into the coming months ahead, please let us as staff know if we can help in any way.

• Selling 2 spring bred Character heifers, safe AI to KCF Bennett Monument J338.

• A stout Character herd bull prospect that looks just like his sire!

• Classy Character heifer calf that is a full sib to Reserve Champion steer at this year’s Premier and EOHA shows.

• Freckle-faced NJW Long Haul 2-year-old with an Excede heifer at side and sells bred back to JW 1857 Merit 21134.
