The Kegley and Jones families welcome everyone to the fourth Badger Southern Select Sale! We are strong believers in families – both our own families who work hard to get cattle looking their best, and the cow families that are the backbone of our operations. You may notice that our catalog is in a new format this year, and the primary reason is to highlight our cow families. We hope you enjoy the new look as much as we do. We know there are a lot of outstanding Hereford cattle in the Midwest, but we strongly believe the top end of this sale stands second to none. They define our goals of “Sound, Stout, Stylish.” We have really turned up the burner with intensive AI programs and a strong IVF program, resulting in some of the best heifer calves we have ever produced. Check out the results inside! • Outstanding, nationally competitive show heifers, including all the calves that were shown by our families this summer. Several calves already brought home purple at Junior National and all stood at the top of their class. These go way deep and there are at least 7 that can run at any show in the country. We’re confident that all will go on to be excellent additions to your operation; for your kids to show and then to become cows that add value to your herd. • A deep group of bred heifers including this year’s Reserve Champion Heifer at the Wisconsin State Fair. Many of these heifers are bred to sexed, calving ease semen and are carrying heifer pregnancies for a quick return on your investment. • While we don’t have many cows in the sale, we have some really, really good ones. These are the ones that hurt to sell. Many were past show winners for us that are still young, in their prime, and ready to be cows, and donors, in your operation. We spare no expense when using AI bulls at our farms. Calves from some deceased, proven and hard to find bulls include About Time, Cash Flow, Revolution, and Roll The Dice! Not to take anything away from some of the most popular bulls of today including Sensation 2296, Sensation 028X, Mason,
KF
Kingsley, Chosen One, Easy Money, Redemption. Many of these are bred back to these same sires as well as sexed semen, calving ease specialists Red Bull, Juice Box & Divergent! We also want you to check out the offspring out of Tundra’s Prophet who has added so much udder quality and cow power. He has made quite a name for himself in Wisconsin. These cattle are out of the same donors that have brought us champions at county, state and national levels. We feel these cattle with their deep pedigrees, will stand the test of time! We are proud of our families working together to put on this sale. The beauty of having two families in one sale is that we can offer you a wider diversity of genetics. Along with that genetic diversity, we offer a lifetime of cattle experience to the new buyers. We love helping new breeders or young show people get started in the Hereford breed and will provide service after the sale to help you achieve your goals. When you take one home with a Badger Southern Select ear tag, not only are you buying a great genetic package, you are buying our years of experience showing and raising cattle. That experience is only a phone call away. This year’s sale will run in the same format as last time, which worked so well. All animals will be on display for your inspection prior to the sale, but we will not be running animals through the auction ring. Instead, we will be playing their videos on HD TVs. This format has proven quite popular in the industry. We will also have the sale online at www.LiveAuctions. TV. All lots have been pictured and videoed and are available on our sale website, www.badgersouthernselect.com. For even more information on our individual farms or donors, check out our farm websites at www.kegleyfarms.com and www. wildcatcattle.com.

We had a long winter waiting for this mating! Sensation 2296, the hottest bull in the breed, with our proven donor Patience had us excited as any and it sure didn’t disappoint. You have to love the cow power and potential of 3A and 3B. As a Horned April, these two will look really nice with a leather halter. The two May calves (4A & 4B) are as fancy as any in the sale and will look mighty good in that Summer Yearling division. Style, EPD’s and Maternal, these heifers have something for everyone!

Roll the Dice calves have been tearing up the show ring this summer. His semen is hard to get at $250 a unit, but we wanted to roll the dice and thought he would click with our power donor, Patience. 5A is a true horned powerhouse. Just a late March yet she is a small tank. Square, big hipped and ribbed, she has all the parts to compete in that horned division. 5B was a little greener when she got back from the cooperator, but I think she is the sleeper in our group! She truly is beautiful! She is one that might surprise us all next summer! The cattlemen will find this one!

Lot 1 may have won the early hardware, but lot 6 may be the people’s champion. I would hate to be showing against this one. She is a true freak being the biggest, squarest-hipped Hereford we have ever seen. She has tremendous width and power throughout yet walks with authority. She tops it off with an extended neck and stakes her claim to being lot one! She has been doing well in the show ring as well, being named calf champion at the Wisconsin Jackpot Show and Reserve Calf Champion at the Wisconsin State Fair. We would love to work with this female in the future as we think she is a donor and a breed changer. We weren’t in early on Cash Flow but we thought he would work great on our cows and we weren’t disappointed. The full sisters, while different in their own ways, are all pretty exciting. You be the judge on adding some proven genetic packages to your program!

A perfect opportunity to get a quick return on your investment! The Avant-Garde bull was our Crackerjack son that won the WI and IA State Fairs. Lot 12 goes back to our Hard Drive program and has raised several very successful show calves, generating over $30,000 in revenue to date. Don’t miss the great show heifer prospect selling alongside her this year. Lot 12A is just a late April heifer calf that has world’s of future and the temperament to be fun for any age exhibitor.

AI’d to Grizzly on 5/24/18, confirmed heifer pregnancy. Her dam sells as lot 12 and it’s hard to part with this bred female. She’s got a tremendous pedigree backed by champions on both sides. This female should prove to be a great investment with her proven background and she’s confirmed to have a heifer calf!
11
THE SALLY 6064 COW FAMILY Lot 15: AI’d to Sensation 2296 on 4/21/18. Confirmed for a heifer calf due January 28. This bred female has all the potential to be headed to the donor pen for her next owner. Out of the original About Time 743 and going back to P606 on the bottom side, this female has a pedigree that is truly tremendous. She’s confirmed with a 2296 heifer calf due in January, so this one might pay herself off in one shot.
Lot 14: This March heifer is one that you’d rather own than have to show against her next summer. Her sire has produced multiple national show champions and the cow side of the pedigree includes bulls like P606. Dark red, big middle, stout made and sound, what more could you ask for?

Lot 18: Woah! A new donor and another mating with a lot of Energy. She hit the show string here at home and has done well, winning her class at Junior National and recently being named calf champion at the Wisconsin State Fair. Square on all four and super deep bodied, this heifer is super competitive and really good. She is from our Baby cow family who put us on the map with our first Junior National Champion Cow-Calf and several other division winners. Lots 19 & 19A: Full sibs to lot 18, these heifers are a little younger, but have a some chrome to catch the judge’s eye. These horned flushmates are pretty flashy and remind me a lot of their dam who did so well for us!

She is beautiful fronted with a tremendous rib shape and sweep. It sure has clicked with these 6 heifers. Take your pick but the Electra Baby’s have a little extra pizazz that is hard to define.

THE MILLIE COW FAMILY
Wildcat Mystery 6062 ET 2018 JNHE – Reserve Champion B&O Cow-Calf Pair
Lot 23: First calf out of a nice uddered two-year-old. And I almost forgot, the dam is a full sister to Mystery and Mercy, a Reserve National Champion Female. Lot 22: Mystery is a Mason straight from the heart of our Millie family. Her full sister DelHawk Mercy sold for $65,000 and was named Reserve National Champion Female at Denver! Mystery herself topped the Badger Southern Select Sale III at $24,000 and we were fortunate to keep ½ interest in her. Get on the ground floor of our next power donor. Mystery and her Wildcat Avant-Garde have been tearing up the summer show circuit as a cow- calf pair. They have been numerous times champion cow-calf at state shows and fairs and were recently named Reserve National Champion Bred and Owned Cow-Calf at the Junior National in Nebraska. Her April bull calf, Wildcat Dr. Strange, has been usually the youngest bull in the division but has won the bull calf division at Junior National and the Iowa State Fair. Offered with Lauren May. Offering one flush/IVF collection on this great one, following calving in April 2019.

Lot 26: AI’d to ECR Redemption 5575 ET; Confirmed Bull pregnancy due 3/10/19 We wanted to offer some really good young cows, and I think Vegas is a home run. We have always loved this Easy Money female who was a natural calf out of Millie. She never got as big as mom, but she is mighty! So deep ribbed and standing on great bone. A true young cow who deserves to be a donor! We showed this one successfully and she is really easy to handle! She’s also bred to Redemption, sire of Lots 1 & 2!
19
HEIFER CALVES Lot 27: Patience casts a huge shadow on our offering, but you don’t want to miss this one. Gem’s dam, Shelby, was a Junior National Champion Female and the NWSS Champion for the Tucker Family. Shelby has had a lot of great ones including the $150,000 Diana cow who was one of the most dominant show heifers in the breed. These Cash Flows get better every day and this heifer has so much potential to be a heavy hitter. We intended for her to be a new donor for us, but we are offering all of our top calves. Not only an impeccable pedigree, but a straight-lined, cool designed female. I think this one’s future is all ahead of her. Don’t miss her!

Lot 28: This is the first year we used Cash Flow and we have been really impressed how these heifers hit another gear after weaning and this one may have shifted two gears! Her recip was a two-year-old, but she is putting that behind her. An up-and-comer with a lot of show potential. Her dam is one of the top Lamb Brothers Beef cows.

AI’d to MSU TCF Revolution 4R; Confirmed Heifer pregnancy due 1/5/19 This bred heifer was our choice at the Generations sale from the Next Generation Program. She is a homozygous polled Catapult 109! Has all the bells and whistles with Genomic EPD’s. From a super good uddered cow family, we really like her now, but think the new owner will LOVE her when she calves in. Revolution 4R heifer pregnancy to boot!

BRED HEIFERS Lot 38: AI’d to MPH 10H Juice Box Z3; Confirmed Heifer pregnancy due 1/30/19 It’s not too often you can get the opportunity to purchase the Reserve Champion Heifer from the State Fair two months after she won it. We wanted to offer our best. We love this yearling as she has a perfect foot and leg. It is hard to get one this sound at this size. She has that extra depth of body and rib capacity that is desired today. The Womanizer’s have been making good cows. From our friends the Schanbacher’s in Iowa, a maternal sister won a division at the American Royal. This one stood second at JNHE and won her division both days at the Wisconsin State Fair and was Reserve Division at Iowa.

Ambrosia and her dam were many times cow-calf champion in 2017 including National Champion Cow-Calf Pair at the American Royal. Her dam is a new donor for us and is truly impressive with her feminine front end and beautiful udder. Straight from the Keysha 949 cow family, who is the dam of the $175,000 Olivia and National Champion Kessey. Ambrosia has the rib, style and maternal power to be an awesome cow in her own right!

PE’d to KF Chason Mason from June 1 on. Here’s a set of Tundras Prophet bred heifers that will be pretty hard to beat. Lot 40 is a sound made, correct female that is putting down a great udder. Lot 41 is a chance to get a piece of the heart of our herd. Babs dam was very successful in the show ring and we think she is one of the best Tundras Prophet’s we’ve ever raised. Lot 42 is a young fall bred heifer that could really be successful in anyone’s herd. We really struggled with the decision to put this female in the sale, but our loss is your gain. Her dam was extremely successful in the show ring and her sire has done tremendous things for our herd.

2 YEAR OLD BRED COWS Lot 43: AI’d to Showtime Fireball on 6/28/18. Here’s another terrific Tundras Prophet daughter. He’s really stamping these females with tremendous udders and a great look from the side. This female should make an impact on any herd and she’s bred to one of the more unique bulls to recently hit the Hereford breed in Showtime Fireball.
Lot 43 Lot 44: AI’d to ECR Redemption 5575 ET; Confirmed Bull pregnancy due 2/22/19 This two-year-old lost her calf at birth, and I regret not working a little harder to find a foster calf. She really was nice uddered. Her dam, Yasmine is a featured donor in the DelHawk program. Full sisters to this heifer have done well. One full sister for the Luke Lemenager family won a division at Denver and was highly competitive in the Illinois circuit. Another full sister sold by us is a new donor for Clayton Cattle Co. in Belmont. Notice she is bred to Redemption, sire of Lots 1 & 2, a sire that is taking our farm by storm.

COW/CALF PAIRS LOT 46: AI’d to UPS Sensation 2296 ET; Confirmed Heifer pregnancy due 3/10/19 We always want to end the sale with one of our best! Kate is quite simply the best uddered female on our farm. This mating really clicked for Next Generation Genetics and a full sister sold at Denver for $40,000. She was a many times champion for us including being named grand champion female at the 2014 WI State Fair. Has a hellacious horned About Time female on her. This is one to buy, put her in your front pasture and brag to your friends about what great uddered cows Herefords are and she is the state fair champion to boot! Buy the pair and you will have a three in one that would be a great basis for your herd. Ribeye 88X, About Time and Sensation 2296 – All are breed icons! Co-Owned with Next Generation Genetics.
