HEREFORD SALE
WELCOME
Welcome to the 4th Annual Cattlemen’s Delight Sale. The Jackson County Fairgrounds location and facility work well for our group, and the consignor families have put together an even better offering this year. The sale will feature top female prospects from the heart of each breeding program. Our herds vary in size, but all five of the consigning families set out to bring you their best. There are many high quality spring born heifer calves, including several show heifer prospects. We also dug deep in our replacement heifer pens, to bring you high quality females that represent the heart of our breeding programs. Many of the bred females will be confirmed bred to AI dates, to industry leading sires. Several heifers will carry natural service, to high caliber herd sires. There are also three show steer prospects included in this years offering.
As cattlemen, we have seen prices of feeder cattle, fed cattle and even market cows, explode higher in 2024, and the next several years look very bright for cattle producers. Little evidence of national cow herd expansion provides tremendous opportunity to those who own the cow factory. If you want to capitalize, it’s time to own the cows, and build herds. The Hereford breed continues to see tremendous demand for top end females, and Herefords are being shown by young cattlemen and women at unprecedented levels! It’s become common for the Hereford classes, to be the largest breed classes, at shows across the country. Lots of families love raising and showing Hereford cattle! The Hereford Junior Nationals, held in Grand Island, Nebraska in July 2024, was again a huge success!
Today’s Hereford cattle are also doing well in the pasture, in the feed yard, and on the rail. Hereford breeders have paid attention to genomic data and have made decisions to improve the final product immensely. Retail and food service volumes of Hereford branded products continue to grow. If you are raising cattle for commercial use, use Hereford genetics with confidence.
You will observe diversity in the pedigrees offered, as each herd operates with different goals and resources. We believe this is an advantage for the prospective buyers, and we look forward to helping you find the cattle in the offering that will help move your herd forward. Feel free to call on any of the Cattlemen’s Delight consignors with questions. More information, including individual animal videos, will be made available prior to the sale on Facebook and Instagram. Some additional genomic profiles and pregnancy check information will also be made available during September.
We invite you to an informal social and viewing on Friday, October 4th from 5-8 p.m. If you would like to view particular lots prior to October 5th, please arrange that with the owner. Each consignor would be happy to show you the cattle ahead of the sale, upon appointment. Obviously, we want you to be able to bid and buy with confidence, so please feel free to reach out with any requests.
Thank you for your interest in our breeding programs and we look forward to seeing you at the 4th Annual Cattlemen’s Delight Sale.
The Cattlemen’s Delight Group, including the Reed, Boettcher, Starck, Steinhoff, and Freidrich families

HERE’S HOW IT WORKS
Reed StockFarm
Reed Stock Farm started in the Polled Hereford business in 1972 with a purchased show heifer. In 1980 Jeff and Bonnie married and continued raising Polled Hereford cattle. Our three children were very active in showing cattle as they grew up. Our now married adult children, and our grandchildren are very involved in raising and showing Hereford cattle. We have shown at many local, state and national shows. We are all very involved in 4-H and in livestock related organizations. We have sold in consignment sales but most of our bulls and females have been sold private treaty at the farm. We operate 80 registered Hereford cows featuring AI and flushing to top bulls. We also own high quality natural service sires which produce the core of our cow herd and many of the sale cattle. Our herd is built on female fertility and maternal strength, with high growth and performance. We strive to produce hard working, high performance cattle that will also perform in the show ring. All of our cattle are also bred with feedlot performance potential in mind.

• We wanted Lot 1 to be special. This F Distinct 225 daughter is the first of several offered in the sale, by Reed Stock Farm and Windy Hills. We bought F Distinct 225 as an outlier calving ease/performance spread bull. We both used him heavly on heifers, but also on a few select mature cows, as a test. 410M represents what an impact F Distinct 225 will have on our programs. The 916G cow has done well for us, and we have a son of her being used this year.

StarckCenturyFarm
For those who have attended the Cattlemen’s Delight sale, welcome back! For those new to our sale, we are glad you’ve joined us!
Starck Century Farm is a family owned and operated farm that has been in my family since 1864. We started our 20 cow registered herd in 2012 with a few calves. Being a small breeder, we have had the luxury to exclusively use artificial insemination on our animals which has allowed us to match specific sire phenotype and EPDs to individual cows in order to build a solid herd that has surpassed the national herd average in all EPD categories.
We have been part of the whole herd DNA program since 2018 that provides us with valuable information that assists us in our breeding decisions and guarantees our cattle to be free of all known genetic defects.
We are proud of the cattle we have sold in the Cattlemen’s Delight sales and have made several friends and acquaintances through our sales. We are pleased our customers share a high level of satisfaction with our cattle. We are confident in our genetics, and are proud to offer a group of cattle we believe will work in any herd!
Thanks for taking the time to look at our animals and give us a call with any questions you may have, Rick & Jenny

Welcome to the 2024 Cattlemen’s Delight Sale. Steiny’s Herefords started in 2003 with the purchase of a cow/calf pair from Warren & Isabelle Brown at the Wisconsin State Sale. Over the last 21 years we have worked to raise sound productive breeding stock that is phenotypically attractive. We have been fortunate to sell cattle that have done great things for their new owners.
The farm is a family affair and we are blessed to see the next generations grow in rural farm life.
We look forward to seeing you at the Cattlemen’s Delight Sale and thank you for considering a purchase from Steiny’s Herefords. Contact Dave with questions at 608-344-0140.
