Welcome to our 13th Annual Sale!

Thanks to all of our past customers who have supported our program over the years. We appreciate your support and continue to seek out the best genetics available to improve our product for you, which can add to your bottom line.

We breed for sound cattle with performance, muscle and eye appeal and acceptable birth weights. We demand fertility and superior production from our cows with an emphasis on udder quality. We are again featuring sons of Entice and the full brothers Standout, Prominent and Benton. We are extremely pleased with the job these bulls have done in adding pigment, performance and carcass quality while not sacrificing soundness and eye appeal. In addition, this year we have the first sons of Final Print to sell anywhere in the country. Final Print has created a stir in the breed siring cattle with low birth weights and excellent performance. Final Print is also the service sire on a number of the heifers selling.

Most of the cattle selling have GE-EPDs (Genomic Enhanced EPD’s). GE EPDs provide the latest technology available to genetically test an animal to obtain the highest accuracy possible in their EPDs. We do this to give buyers a higher level of confidence that their bull or heifer will do the job they want. Current EPDs at the time of printing are listed in the catalog and will be updated on all the cattle selling the week prior to the sale.

You will also notice many of the bulls are designated with $CHB logos. The $CHB logo signifies that the bull is in the top 50% of the breed, and the $CHB Elite logo in the top 25% of the breed for producing feeder cattle that will excel in the economically relevant traits of gain, feed efficiency and carcass merit when mated to Angus cows.

To help you with this early sale date we will keep all the bulls on feed at Delaney Herefords free of charge until May 1, 2023. Prior to that date we will gather yearling weights and carcass data at no expense to the buyer. All the bulls will be semen tested and fully guaranteed. We will cover up to $100/head on trucking expenses outside the 250 miles on per head purchases of $5,000 or more. After May 1, 2022 a yardage charge of $3.00 per day will apply. We ask females be picked up before February 1, 2022. Simply put this bull is just a stud and phenotypically he’s arguably one of the best we have ever raised. Drammen is bold and powerful. He’s huge hipped and massive ribbed with ideal, big flexible feet and clean joints. But what’s so impressive is that he handles all that mass and power so effortlessly. It’s evident by the way he holds his top line, so level and straight on the move, with his neck coming perfectly out of his shoulder. Drammen combines two incredible females in his pedigree, 45C and Candi 5451! These are two of the most well known, successful females in the Hereford breed. We are looking forward to using him back in our program. We are selling full possession with complete terms to be announced sale day.

A top cattleman toured our place this summer and picked out this guy and his mother as our top young pair! We certainly had no arguments. His mother is a beautiful daughter of /S 66128 Revolution bull that has put the work in on her first three calves and then stuck back AI the last three years. His sire, Prominent, is starting to make a name for himself as his offspring continue to impress. 5K will carry on those qualities and more as he’s ultra attractive phenotypically and has the genetic background to continue to produce quality.

He’s huge topped, bold ribbed with extra performance. He has been a favorite since day one due to his shapely look and style. His mother is gorgeous young cow with a beautiful udder and does a great job. She boasts a nursing ratio of 3 @ 115! 64k is so complete in the way he’s put together. He’s smooth made yet still so massive in his body shape. His depth of rib promotes the broody, soggy, easy doing daughters that we all love and he still has the power and muscle necessary to give his sons that extra punch. We were so happy with how this flush turned out we decided to flush his mother back to Standout for next year again. His full sisters are fantastic. Full brother to lot 5.

Standout has surpassed expectations. He is doing a great job siring high performing cattle with tremendous softness, do-ability, soundness, and muscle mass. His progeny have been extremely consistent and offer extra pigmentation. His EPDs for WW, YW, M&G, CW and $CHB are all in the top 1% of the breed. Plus his REA is in the top 2% and Marbling in the top 5%.

We also love our Standout calves, he sires ideal beef cattle, deep soggy heavy muscled bulls and broody cowwy females. We think this guy is a great example of that as is his full sister who is a gorgeous bred heifer and is why we decided to breed that cow back this way. A 3/4 brother was one of our high selling bulls in this sale two years ago. If 10k wasn’t related to most of our cowherd we would absolutely be using him back in our operation.

Two of these bulls were raised at Delaney’s and two at a coop herd. 19Z has been the anchor donor here in recent years producing a number of herd bulls and donor females working in some of the top herds across America. If you are looking for efficiency and calving ease here he is. This son of Final Print is one of the top 3 bulls in the entire breed born in 2022 for Calving Ease with a CE EPD of +20.1 and BW EPD of -3.3. Outstanding milk; plus udder and teat scores near the top of the breed. In addition, moderate Mature Cow Weight and high SCF. Put all of this together and you have a bull who should produce the kind of moderate, productive females that the industry needs. In addition to that, he is stout made, easy doing and attractive in a moderate framed package. His mother is a moderate sized daughter of 2296 with a beautiful udder. His maternal sister sired by Munson is one of our top young cows. Study this bull closely, he has a lot to offer.

Homozygous Polled. This bull was a standout all summer at Atkins Herefords. Out of a first calf heifer he is an example of why we like our Final Print calves so much. Born unassisted at 73 pounds he weaned off heavy. He has one big goggle red eye and tons of thickness and bone. His numbers are hard to match with low BW and then growth at the very top of the breed. His mother is a granddaughter of our 19Z donor that did a great job with a beautiful udder. She is a future candidate for the donor pen. This bull was lame the day we took pictures so we did not picture him but don’t overlook him

Outstanding herd sire prospect here out of one of our very best cow families. 57K is a maternal brother to donor 79F. He also has a full sister in the replacement pen that we think awfully highly of and two other maternal sisters in production that are outstanding. We have been waiting for his DOD mother to give us another bull calf and she didn’t disappoint! 57k is a high performing burley beast! He’s big topped, big hipped, big bodied and 100% pigmented. This bull will add pounds and performance to your calves without sacrificing important maternal traits like longevity and fertility. These Entice sons are fantastic and heres another one!

Outstanding performance bull! This guy has a ton of quality to offer and is backed by an incredible genetic package. A true performance bull that should make front pasture females. full brother to lots 24 and 25.

like Prominent, Standout, and Benton it is difficult to predict which flushmates will produce the best offspring, but this guy has the pieces to do it. He has overcome the disadvantage of a poor recip to get here. He has some extra length and style compared to his brothers and is ideally marked. Full brother to lots 23 and 25.

18K is the heaviest weaning weight bull in the entire group coming in at a whopping 814lbs! His mother is one of the hardest working cows on the place with a picture perfect udder. This guy is the ideal beef bull, his performance coupled with his inherent maternal traits and ideal EPD profile make him a great herd bull option. Look long and hard at the scale pounding, fully pigmented Entice son.

Natural calf out of donor 1B. His maternal sister was the high selling female in our 2022 Bulls & Breds sale and another maternal sister is one of our favorite bred heifers selling this year. His dam, 1B, is an ultra easy doing highly fertile female that breeds up every year. Red eyed and ultra good footed, this guy will look fantastic on a set of commercial cows! Homozygous Polled. Here’s another one that should have been pictured! This guy is actually a twin but that didn’t hold him back, he’s got all the makings of a great herd bull. He’s ultra deep bodied, red eyed and is awesome structured. His mother has been an outstanding producer for us and has put multiple sons in prominent herds across the country. These Entice sons are outstanding commercial bulls!

a bull who comes from a cow family that has excelled in both of our programs. When we visit the Atkins Ranch one of our favorite cows every time is 407B who has done great things for Pete and is a maternal sister to 78K. Their dam 201Z is a 10 year old cow that breeds up early and pumps out big calves year after year. This bull will be an excellent breeding tool with the maternal backing to leave excellent daughters with extra performance breeders want.

His mother has been outstanding for us, another great producing 33Z daughter. 23K is so deep, soggy and the red eyed stud is awesome footed. He is so attractive in the way he’s put together and offers excellent balance with added look. 45C has created quite a stir throughout the Hereford breed and its because of progeny like this. His full sisters have been highly sought after in our Online Heifer and Embryo sales the last two years and for good reason due to the extra quality these cattle possess. Here’s a great calving ease sire with outstanding EPDs! Talk about a set of numbers that are right for the times. Top 2% for calving ease, top 1% for SCF, top 1% for Marbling and all dollar indexes are in the top 2% of the breed or higher. Not to mention this guy has a fantastic phenotype to go with his incredible EPDs. He’s ultra attractive and good looking with a great foot and good angles. His first calf heifer mother is a 7850 daughter with pigmented teats and his sire is an 88X son from CRR who does a great job siring low birth high marbling cattle with extra pigment and outstanding maternal. This bull is set to produce efficient, long lasting progeny that will make you money!

Fantastic heifer bull option here with double digit calving ease and a negative birth. Not only is this guy a sleep easy calving ease sire, but he’s also homozygous polled with two big red eyes and excellent maternal figures. His pedigree combines breed legends 88X, 028X and homegrown 8Y! It doesn’t get much better than that when looking for a maternal calving ease sire.

Full brother to our National Sale bull. We are really happy with how this flush turned out, this guy is moderate, huge bodied and full of muscle. He’s in the top 5% in Marbling, Teat size and WW. His sire is a former National Champion bull and complete outcross to most pedigrees. His mother is the legendary 19Z cow who has produced numerous high sellers on the national level. Another year, another absolute stud out of the perfect uddered, great looking 7C. This cow does nothing but produce no matter what we mate her to. 15K is an absolute powerhouse. Not only is he heavy muscled and stout but he’s still great footed and big ribbed. Not to mention, this dark cherry red, red eyed, bruiser has great EPDs to compliment his powerful phenotype. If you’re looking for a true herd bull that can cover a lot of cows and look great doing it, here he is.

Homozygous Polled.

Here is the natural calf out of the dam of Final Print, sired by the Thomas Small Town Kid 9023 who is known for calving ease, growth and outstanding carcass traits. This dark red pigmented bull has about as good of an EPD profile as you will find. Very low BW to go along with high Calving Ease, great growth, udder, teat and carcass traits. He is in the top 10% of the breed for 14 traits and Indexes! As you study him remember he is the youngest calf in the sale, born in late March.

Calving ease! Great low birth option out of a BR Trust daughter and sired by the great 63E bull, making him a paternal brother to herd bulls Standout Benton and Prominent. This guy offers really solid EPDs across the board with good maternal and carcass numbers. This guy will be a commercial man’s best friend come calving time, he’s a no worries sleep all night heifer bull.

We feel there is no greater investment than a bred female. They offer quick return and are built and bred to last. We love this set of females offered, they come from the heart of our programs. This group features some females that excel in terms of their EPDs, as well as, their phenotype and pigmentation. We believe there are multiple individuals that can go on and be cornerstone type of females. Many have brothers in this sale and many have half and or full sibs that are retained in our own herds. Also, most of the heifers are carrying the service of our two new exciting young sires: RST FINAL PRINT 0016 and CRR 88X RIBEYE 056.

All females have been poured with Dectomax and will have received two shots of Scour-Boss before sale day. They were also given their pre-breeding booster shot of BoviShield Gold FP 5VL5 this fall. This may be one of the best females we have ever sold. 1J has a rare combination of curve bending EPDs coupled with elite phenotypic quality. When you search for CED, BW and YW coupled with her SCF and elite Udder, Teat, BMI and CHB she sorts herself to the top of any female born in 2021. She’s in the top 5% of the breed in 10 traits! On foot she’s gorgeous, bold ribbed great feet and legs and fully pigmented. She’s ultra feminine in her head and neck with great style and look. Her sire Long Haul is known for producing elite females, and her dam is the legendary 45C cow who speaks for herself. Look long and hard at this one, she’s going to have a bright future.

These cattle catch your attention with their soundness, style and attractiveness. 111J is just that and is sure to pass that on in production! Not only does 99J have an awesome pedigree but phenotypically she’s deep bodied, ultra feminine with plenty of pigment and style. On paper she’s lower birth with great growth and outstanding carcass values. Shes in the top 5% of the breed in CW, Marb and CHB. Beautiful broody female here. This moderate made huge bodied Miles Ahead daughter is one of our favorite breds. She’s a beautifully designed female with good pigment PLUS she’s carrying a heifer calf! AN EXPLANATION OF EPDS

Calving Ease – Direct (CE) - CE EPD is based on calving ease scores and birth weights and is measured on a percentage. CE EPD indicates the influence of the sire on calving ease in females calving at 2 years of age. For example, if sire A has a CE EPD of 6 and sire B has a CE EPD of -2, then you would expect on average if comparably mated, sire A’s calves would be born with an 8% more likely chance of being unassisted when compared to sire B’s calves.

Birth Weight (BW) - BW EPD is an indicator trait for calving ease and is measured in pounds. For example, if sire A has a BW EPD of 3.6 and sire B has a BW EPD of 0.6, then you would expect on average if comparably mated, sire A’s calves would come 3 lb. heavier at birth when compared to sire B’s calves. Larger BW EPDs usually, but not always, indicate more calving difficulty. The figure in parentheses found after each EPD is an accuracy value or reliability of the EPD.

Weaning Weight (WW) - WW EPD is an estimate of pre-weaning growth that is measured in pounds. For example, if sire A has a WW EPD of 60 and sire B has a WW EPD of 40, then you would expect on average if comparably mated, sire A’s calves would weigh 20 lb. heavier at weaning when compared to sire B’s calves.

Yearling Weight (YW) - YW EPD is an estimate of post-weaning growth that is measured in pounds. For example, if sire A has a YW EPD of 100 and sire B has a YW EPD of 70, then you would expect on average if comparably mated, sire A’s calves would weigh 30 lb. heavier at a year of age when compared to sire B’s calves.

Maternal Milk (MM) - The milking ability of a sire’s daughters is expressed in pounds of calf weaned. It predicts the difference in average weaning weights of sires’ daughters’ progeny due to milking ability. Daughters of the sire with a +14 MM EPD should produce progeny with 205-day weights averaging 24 lb. more (as a result of greater milk production) than daughters of a bull with a MM EPD of -10 lb. (14 minus -10.0 = 24 lb.). This difference in weaning weight is due to total milk production during the entire lactation.

Maternal Calving Ease (MCE) - MCE EPD predicts how easily a sires daughters will calve at 2 years of age and is measured on a percentage. For example, if sire A has a MCE EPD of 7 and sire B has a CE EPD of -3, then you would expect on average if comparably mated, sire A’s daughters would calve with a 10% more likely chance of being unassisted when compared to sire B’s daughters.

Mature Cow Weight (MCW) - The MCW EPD was designed to help breeders select sires that will either increase or decrease mature size of cows in the herd. The trait was developed after years of cow weight data collection and the EPD relates directly to the maintenance requirements of a cow herd. An example of how the MCW EPD allows breeders to compare sires: If sire A has a MCW EPD of 100 and sire B has an EPD of 85, then you would expect the females of sire A, if mated to similar cows, to be 15 lb. heavier at mature size. Udder Suspension (US) - Scores range from 9 (very tight) to 1 (very pendulous) and represent assessments of udder support. Weak udder suspension results in pendulous udders that make it difficult for a calf to nurse. Weak suspension in the udder indicates a lack of support in the ligament that ties the udder to the cow’s body wall. Over time, weakness in this ligament will allow the udder to hang down too far from the body and may subject the udder to serious problems and increased potential for injury. UDDR EPDs are reported on the scoring scale. Differences in sire EPDs predict the difference expected in the sires’ daughters’ udder characteristics when managed in the same environment. For example, if sire A has a UDDR EPD of 0.4, and sire B has a UDDR EPD of -0.1, the difference in the values is 0.5, or one-half of a score. If daughters of sires A and B are raised and managed in the same environment, you would expect half a score better udder suspension in daughters of sire A, compared to sire B.

Teat size (TS) - Scores range from 9 (very small) to 1 (very large, balloon shaped) and are subjective assessments of the teat length and circumference. Oversized teats are difficult for newborn calves to nurse, and the calf may not receive adequate colostrum. This could lead to a higher incidence of scours or decreased immunity levels in the newborn calf. TEAT EPDs are reported on the scoring scale. Differences in sire EPDs predict the difference expected in the sires’ daughters’ udder characteristics when managed in the same environment. For example, if sire A has a teat size EPD of 0.4, and sire B has a teat size EPD of -0.1, the difference in the values is 0.5, or one-half of a score. If daughters of sires A and B are raised and managed in the same environment, you would expect half a score smaller teat size in daughters of sire A, compared to sire B.

Scrotal Circumference (SC) - Measured in centimeters and adjusted to 365 days of age, SC EPD is the best estimate of fertility. It is related to the bull’s own semen quantity and quality, and is also associated with age at puberty of sons and daughters. Larger SC EPDs suggest younger age at puberty. Yearling sons of a sire wth a .7 SC EPD should have yearling scrotal circumference measurements that average 0.7 centimeters (cm) larger than progeny by a bull with an EPD of 0.0 cm. In the Hereford genetic analysis, a multiple-trait model was used for scrotal circumference. Weaning weight was used as a predictor variable to increase the prediction accuracy of SC EPDs. Therefore, an animal with a weaning weight EPD should also have a SC EPD.

Sustained Cow Fertility (SCF) - The AHA’s new Sustained Cow Fertility EPD (SCF) is a prediction of a cow’s ability to continue to calve from three years of age through twelve years of age, given she calved as a two-year-old. The EPD is expressed as a deviation in the proportion of the ten-possible calving’s to twelve years old expressed as a probability. For example, the daughters of a bull with a 30 EPD would have the genetic potential to have one more calf by age twelve then the daughters from a bull with a 20 EPD. In other words, the daughters from the 30 EPD bull would have a 10% greater probability of having one more calf than the bull with a 20 EPD. This is equivalent to saying that the daughters are 10% more likely to remain in the herd to age 12.

Dry Matter Intake (DMI) - The Dry Matter Intake EPD predicts the daily consumption of pounds of feed. For example, if sire A has a DMI EPD of 1.1 and sire B has a DMI EPD of 0.1, you would expect sire B’s progeny, if comparably mated, to consume on average 1 pound of feed less per day.

Carcass Weight (CW) - Carcass weight is a beneficial trait when considering the impact that pounds have relative to end product value. At the same age constant endpoint, sires with higher values for carcass weight will add more pounds of hot carcass weight compared to sires with lower values for carcass weight. For example, if sire A has a CW EPD of 84 and sire B has a CW EPD 64, then you would expect the progeny of sire A, if harvested at the same age constant endpoint, to have a 20-lb. advantage in terms of hot carcass weight.

Rib Fat (FAT) - The FAT EPD reflects differences in adjusted 365-day, 12th-rib fat thickness based on carcass measurements of harvested cattle. Sires with low, or negative FAT EPDs are expected to produce leaner progeny than sires with higher EPDs. Ultrasound measures are also incorporated into this trait and have been shown to be highly correlated with the performance of slaughter progeny. All data is expressed on a carcass scale.

Ribeye Area (REA) - REA EPDs reflect differences in an adjusted 365-day ribeye area measurement based on carcass measurements of harvested cattle. Sires with relatively higher REA EPDs are expected to produce better-muscled and higher percentage yielding slaughter progeny than will sires with lower REA EPDs. Ultrasound measurements are also incorporated into this trait and have been shown to be highly correlated with the performance of slaughter progeny. All data is expressed on a carcass scale.

Marbling (MARB) - MARB EPDs reflect differences in an adjusted 365-day marbling score (intramuscular fat, [IMF]) based on carcass measurements of harvested cattle. Breeding cattle with higher MARB EPDs should produce slaughter progeny with a higher degree of IMF and therefore higher quality grades. Ultrasound measurements are also incorporated into this trait and have been shown to be highly correlated with the performance of slaughter progeny. All data is expressed on a carcass scale.

Baldy Maternal Index (BMI$) - The Baldy Maternal Index is a maternally focused index that is based on a production system that uses Hereford x Angus cross cows. Progeny of these cows are directed towards Certified Hereford Beef. This index has significant weight on Sustained Cow Fertility, which predicts fertility and longevity of females. There is a slightly positive weight on Weaning Weight, Mature Cow Weight and Milk which accounts for enough growth but ensures females do not increase inputs. There is some negative emphasis on Dry Matter Intake, but a positive weighting on Carcass Weight which is anticipated to provide profitability from finishing of non-replacement. females and castrated males. Marbling and Rib-eye Area are also positively weighted to keep the harvested progeny successful for CHB. This index is geared to identify Hereford bulls that will be profitable when used in a rotational cross with mature commercial Angus cows.

Certified Hereford Beef Index (CHB$) - The Certified Hereford Beef Index is a terminal sire index that is built on a production system where Hereford bulls are mated to mature commercial Angus cows and all progeny will be targeted for Certified Hereford Beef after the finishing phase. This index has significant weight on Carcass Weight to ensure profit on the rail. As well there is a positive weighting for Average Daily Gain along with a negative weighting on Dry Matter Intake to ensure efficient pounds of growth in the finishing phase. Keep in mind, this production system takes advantage of complimentary breeding with the commercial Angus cow. Although Marbling is weighted positively in this index, a positive weighting for Rib-eye Area and a negative weighting for Back Fat are a greater priority in this index to allow for optimum end-product merit. This is the only index that has no emphasis on fertility. Remember that no replacement heifers are being retained.
