Greetings! Welcome to the 63rd Magnolia Hereford Association Sale. We are pleased to offer quality Hereford genetics that will be a positive addition to any operation. Some animals have not been cataloged so be sure to pick up a supplement sheet on the day of the sale. As we get closer to sale date we will be posting animal information on our Magnolia Hereford Association Facebook page. Cattle will come in Friday, February 18th, for viewing and breeders will be available to answer questions and tell you about their cattle. 2022 Magnolia Hereford Association Sale Honoree
I
n 1978, Robert ‘Bob’ Tolley sold his first Hereford bull in the Magnolia Hereford Association sale. Since then, his passion for Hereford cattle and the MHA Sale has only grown. Tolley grew up on his family farm in a small town in western Kentucky – Lola, Kentucky. His childhood family farm was far from the Hereford operation he is known for today, but that is where Tolley would build his idea of how a farm should work and what cattle should be. To this day, Tolley looks for cows that are maternal, easy keeping, docile, and sound just like his dad wanted on his childhood farm. The persistence Tolley has for the type and kind of cattle he likes is the same persistence he has for the MHA and sustaining it for generations to come. For over 40 years, Tolley has served on the board of directors and for over 25 of those years he served as the association’s secretary alongside his late wife, Betty Tolley. During his stint on the board, Tolley has been known for encouraging young Hereford enthusiast to continue in the breed and to seek out opportunities like the MHA Sale to market their stock. It is the service to the MHA, dedication the Hereford breed, and encouragement that Tolley has presented over the course of four decades that makes him an extraordinary candidate to be the Honoree of the 63rd Magnolia Hereford Association Sale.

Heifers will be nominated by consignor by 10:00 A.M. on sale day. A $100 nomination fee will be assessed going to Magnolia Hereford Association by the consignor. Youth who purchase a nominated Furturity Heifer at the sale will be eligible to show that heifer at the next year’s Futurity Heifer Show in conjunction with the Magnolial Hereford Association Sale. The winner of the Futurity Show will receive a sale credit for purchase at the sale that day. Clearks must know that a junior has purchased one of the nominated heifers at checkout time. The heifer must be transferred to a junior member at purchase time.

Statement of Policy We, the members of the Magnolia Hereford Association, welcome you to our 63rd annual Hereford Sale. We believe the ages of the animals selected for this sale will be very attractive from the buyer’s standpoint. They are just at the age to increase in value at a rapid rate. Many of the females are bred, and the others will soon be ready to breed to your own bull. They are not old enough to have been over-fitted to the extent that it will affect their breeding ability, therefore, the purchaser has every right to expect an increase in looks as well as value as the animal develops to maturity. It shall be the policy of this organization not only to get good prices for its consignors, but to do its utmost to see that members breeders consigning only top-quality cattle and to see that buyers are satisfied and become repeat buyers. All sale animals (unless designated as commercial) must be registered with the American Hereford Association and will sell according to the terms and guarantees recommended by the American Hereford Association with reference to health, freedom from defects, reproductive soundness and freedom from specific genetic unsoundness. The recommended refunds or adjustments will be made in case animals fail to live up to seller’s guarantee. Females over 18 months unless from a certified free herd must be tested and a health certificate furnished. While quality and condition are relative, the members of the executive committee shall bar any animal that, in their opinion, will be detrimental to the sale, injurious to the purchaser, or a discredit to the Hereford breed. - The Magnolia Hereford Association 63rd Annual Sale 15

Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder for cash. The auctioneer shall settle any disputes as to bids. Announcements at the sale by the auctioneer concerning cattle will take precedence over statements in the catalog. Each animal will be at the purchaser’s risk immediately after the animal is sold. They will be fed, watered, and care for at no charge to the purchaser, if taken within 24 hours, but at the purchaser’s risk. (Buyers can have them insured against this risk at a nominal rate.) Breeding Guarantee: All animals sold in this sale are guaranteed by the consignor to be breeders, provided they are properly handled and cared for by the purchaser. If any animal fails to breed, the seller must be notified within six months of the date of sale; otherwise, the animal is no longer guaranteed in any way. If the animal is in a sound, healthy condition, buyer may return it to seller, who shall have six months to get it with calf, refund the purchase price, or furnish another animal of equal value. Changes in these conditions shall be binding only when placed in writing and signed by the seller, buyer, or clerk of the sale. Verbal agreements result in misunderstandings and the above rule is to avoid such.
