Dear Hereford Breeders and Enthusiasts,
Welcome to the National Western Hereford Sale “Herefords in the Yards”. One of the most talked about subjects over the past year was the excitement and optimism of the new Yards at the National Western. Last year, the success of our inaugural sale proved the Hereford breed was excited about our new format, and the reintroduction of a Yards auction event.
For generations, the Yards at the National Western were known at THE place to merchandise and promote the best Hereford genetics found anywhere. This year, breeders from across the United States & Canada have come together to offer the most superior genetics in the breed for this once-a-year event! There is not just one single lot, but each and every lot will appeal to multitudes of Hereford breeders looking to move their programs to new heights. The bulls and females presented in this catalog represent some of the finest genetics available today in the entire breed. They are the type of genetics that can make an immediate impact in a lone generation for any program coast to coast. In addition to the live lots, we are offering some “pick of the herds” that represent the type of elite genetics that aren’t available anywhere at any time. We wish to invite you to the 2023 National Western Hereford Sale. If you are unable to make it to Denver, the sale will be broadcast on CCI.Live. If you have any questions about the sale offering, please contact myself, the sale consultants, or any member of the sale staff.
Welcome to the National Western … welcome to the Yards.

TOPP HEREFORDS CHOICE OF BRED HEIFERS
The first time we ever offered this before was the 2022 Herefords in the Yards Sale, where it sold for $40,000 to Sadler Ranches in Oklahoma. Due to the overwhelming response and interest we had in it, we decided to offer it again this year in Denver. You’re bidding on the opportunity to tap into the number one resource we have … our replacement bred heifers. Our maternal battery is bred for and focused on one primary goal … raising commercial bulls.
We believe that a true Seedstock operation’s commitment is to develop genetics that ultimately drive the meat industry forward. Our success is measured by our contribution to the sustainability of our commercial cow-calf customers.
Our cow herd is built on a foundation of four core values: udder quality, soundness, fertility, and pounds. The structure by which we analyze these traits may be called old-fashioned by some. However, the process is real and exceptionally ruthless.
Udder quality is determined at calving time by a simple 1-2 grading system. A 1 is great and a 2 is a cull. Soundness is determined during spring vaccination season. A female with a cracked foot, bad joints, poor disposition or hard-doing is sorted off and not even bred. Fertility sorts itself out quickly with a 45-day breeding season. Finally, pounds weaned. If they don’t bring in a heavy calf, there is a pretty good chance she won’t be calving here next spring. To round out our selection process, we have been DNA testing since 2013 to provide parentage, identify genetic defect status and increase the accuracy of EPDs.
Buyer will have the opportunity to select from over 230 bred heifers. The majority of these bred heifers are AI bred. All will be calved out to further enhance the selection process. Selection is to be determined between May 1 to May 15, 2023.

We’re swinging the gates wide open for the first time! This is your opportunity to select a heifer calf sired by your choice of 4 of the hottest bulls in the breed and out of our proven cowherd backed by generations of maternal excellence. We run our registered females right along with our commercial herd as our focus for years has remained solely on raising commercial bulls for our discerning bull buyers. We expect our females to raise their calves with minimal inputs and no creep with a high emphasis placed on fleshing ability, low maintenance, sound, functional, good uddered, fertile cattle that have maternal, commercial, and terminal traits all aligned. We do not chase trends and we do not use extremes. We choose genetics out of the best cow families in the Hereford breed and keep data to back everything up. The 4 sire groups you’ll be choosing from is a perfect combination of progressive genetics and maternal excellence. We own a share of these four sires, and they represent the future of our program. The first sire up is arguably the top Genesis son to sell in 2022, KSU LAND GRANT 153 ET. We partnered with Atkins, Delaney, Peréz, and ST Genetics on his, and feel the sky is the limit with his potential. The second bull is JDH AH LINCOLN 106H ET, our pick in the 2021 National Hereford Sale. He offers tremendous growth and carcass potential, along with style and proven maternal. Third up is RST FINAL PRINT 0016. Final Print semen has been in huge demand and shows no signs of slowing down. Rounding out the list, but certainly not least is SR EXPEDITION 619G ET, the #1 spread bull in the entire breed for calving ease to growth … anyway your sort it! Along with his production numbers, he offers huge carcass EPDs. Buyer will have the opportunity to select from our spring heifer calf crop sired by these 4 great herd bulls. In most cases, this is the first chance to get ahold of their female progeny. We have over 90 total females due to these 4 bulls this Spring, so no matter which sire you choose, there will be many that catch your eye. Selection must be made by September 15, 2023, and will exclude Partnership ET calves. All DNA results will be provided to assist the buyer with his/her selection.

Confidence is one of the most exciting, promising young herd sires that will sell in 2023. This breeding piece in the making might be the perfect combination of EPD excellence mixed with proven maternal performance. 5 full sisters to Confidence sold in Jensen Bros. “The Chosen Female Sale” to average $21,300. All of this tied around tremendous eye appeal makes Confidence perfectly designed for the beef business in 2023.
His dam, 45C, truly is the “Mother of Herd Bulls.” Her sons include Prominent, Stand Out, Benton, Substance, Miles Ahead, among many others. She has been one of the top income generating females in the entire breed over the past 6 years. When you look at her actual performance, she has been a strong producer. She’s recorded progeny ratios of 6@102 for WW, 1@ 103 for YW, and a whopping 25@104 for both REA and IMF.
His sire, Trademark, is the hottest young sire in the ABS lineup. His dam, T723, has been a tremendous and prolific dam in the Innisfail program. In addition, she’s the dam of two highly popular herd sires, INNISFAIL 723 U208 4013 ET and INNISFAIL 723 U208 4020 ET.
When you sort based on WW, YW, UDDR, TEAT, REA, & MARB, Confidence is the lone animal in the breed. Throw in his high calving ease, and there isn’t a box he doesn’t check … and he’s HOMOZYGOUS POLLED!
Individually he ranks in the top 1% for UDDR, TEAT, MARB, BMI, BII & CHB; Top 3% for WW & CW; Top 10% for YW, SC, SCF & REA; Top 15% for MG; Top 25% for CE & MCE.
It’s not every day the opportunity to procure a herd sire prospect that combines an excellent phenotype, unequaled breed leading EPDs backed by proven foundation cow families. The revenue potential behind Confidence is limitless.

What Gentry offers in terms of genetic potential is hard to beat. His sire, the past National Champion H MONTGOMERY 7437 ET, has proven himself in his ability to sire elite show heifers. Gentry himself is poised as the next great sire of national champion females. Gentry’s dam proved herself near unbeatable on the show circuit. She was the Champion Polled Yearling Heifer at the 2022 NWSS and stood either Grand or Reserve at every other show she competed in: Sioux Falls, Black River Spring Thaw, Cyclone Classic, AGR Spring Showdown, Exit 69, JCYL Expo, WI State Fair, among others. Emerald, a daughter of National Champion Contender, is an attractive female from any angle that is huge boned and feminine in her design. Her dam, 907E, has been a tremendous producer for the Jensen family. Most prominently, 907E is the mother of KJ TWJ 907E LIBERTY 159H ET, the Reserve Champion Polled Bull at the 2022 Cattlemen’s Congress as well as the 2021 Grand Champion Bull at the American Royal. When you stack all of these layers of success around his flawless phenotype, there is no doubt Gentry is the next great sire of the most elite show heifers in the country.

First up is the ET. The Pearl cow is one of the most decorated females the Stagemeyer brothers ever campaigned. Culminating as the 2018 American Royal Grand Champion, she’s earned the title as a true “revenue producer” as her ET progeny continues to be in tremendous demand. Contender has established himself in not only being able to produce progeny with exceptional eye appeal, but also superior calving ease, along with great carcass. A full sib heifer sold for $45,000 in Major League Female Sale in Fall ’22.
The next two half brothers are sired by 7850, who is out of possibly one of the best cows in the Upstream herd. Just take a look at the huge spread on Stunner 396K’s EPDs. There isn’t a box he doesn’t check! 396K’s Endure dam is definitely one of the best females in the Kester herd. 215G ratioed 131 for WW, 123 for YW, 114 for REA & 108 for IMF on her first calf and has made her way into the donor pen. This combination of high performing maternal greats will yield tremendous daughters.

Once again this year, K7 Herefords put together a set of bulls that are ready for immediate turnout! These fall yearling bulls offer something unique and different in pedigree, but the common theme that ties them together is their eye appeal and performance. All three are backed by high producing cows, with proven data. The daughters they sire will be the kind of cows that raise top commercial bulls year in and year out! What this pen lacks in uniformity in the show, YOU can capitalize for the sale. 2176 CE BW WW YW DMI SC SCF MM M&G MCE 8.6 1.3 53 91 0.5 1.6 13.6 21 48 7.7 9% 18% 58% 40% 85% 4% 74% 77% 74% 3% MCW UDDR TEAT CW FAT REA MARB BMI$ BII$ CHB$ 109 1.30 1.20 61 0.088 0.26 0.17 292 366 100 89% 19% 49% 77% 99% 80% 24% 83% 76% 79%
CHOICE OF HERD SIRE PROSPECTS
Mark, Matt and the crew had a big problem trying to put together their pen of bulls this year … they had way too many good ones! After much deliberation, they figured the best way to solve this problem is to bring ’em all to town with their first Carload. While we’re limited on space to dive into the detail these ten herd sire prospects deserve, you can’t leave off the potential in the first three full brothers. These are the very first progeny to sell from JDH AH LINCOLN 106H ET, Landgren, Dvorak & Brett Nelson’s pick in the 2021 National Sale. On the bottom side, their donor dam is the dam of LAND SLINGER 2296 1046, who sold in this sale last year to Dry Creek Farms, Eric Walker, Dirt Road Farm & Jernigan. She was the top selling female in the 2021 Upstream Ranch Production Sale. Do the research … study the dams … and make your pick. You’ll see several of these great bulls go on to make a huge impact in herds all across the country in the years to come.

The direction of the Barnes program is on full display in these three future donor prospects. As you often see when searching for tremendous cow prospects, they are built around a foundation cow, in this case it’s the 731C donor dam. This young cow has done an excellent job making a big impact on our program. These first two heifers in our pen are full sisters to RMB/DKM AUDACIOUS 4013 779H, a top selling bull for us that is now walking at Parker Bros. Polled Herefords. Just look at the curve bending numbers in these two with huge spreads from calving ease to growth along with outstanding carcass.

KING RANCH CHOICE OF PEN OF HEIFERS
We could not have asked for anything more from Bill King in bringing this set of heifers to Denver as he has put together a tremendous set of genetics. These ET full sisters will astound the breeders that show up at the National Western for this sale. This set of ET heifers is sired by none other than the most influential sire in the breed today – LOEWEN GENESIS G16 ET! His progeny continues to dominate every sale ring across the United States and this offering will be no different. As you view these females in person, you will see why Bill was excited to be one of the partners on this bull. When you ask Bill about the awesome donor dam of these ET sisters — BK MISS 88X RIBEYE 4078, he simply says, “she’s the best cow on my ranch.” This 88X daughter is out of a high performing L1 x Pure Gold cow that posted progeny ratios of 9@100 for WW, 8@105 for YW, 4@109 for REA and 4@104 for IMF. 4078 has been such a consistent producer for the King family, they have a son back in the herd as well as two daughters that have made their way to the donor pen.
This addition of Genesis x 4078 females will make a lasting impression in any herd once her show career is complete. PO Box 2670, Moriarty, NM

We’re excited to once again offer choice of our pen of heifers. This set of moderate, functional, homozygous polled females go back to our 2020 Champion Pen of Spring Yearling Females. In 2020, we showed a pen of 3 flushmates (R Leader 6964 x THM Durango 4037), and we had the opportunity to flush two of the three to BG LCC 11B Perfecto 84F. You’ll find two females and one bull resulting from those matings in our Denver pens. Additionally, you’ll find the natural calf of one donor in this pen of heifers. That’s the fertility cattlemen and women need — a cow that will flush and turn around and breed AI not missing a beat! All heifers were bred AI to GO King E33, then pasture exposed to CSU Mandate Ram 1205 (Reg #44293242). If you’re in Denver, you’ll find him in our pen. We wish to reserve the right to 2 flushes on buyer’s choice to be conducted at our expense and buyer’s convenience.

This heifer is the natural calf of donor CSU Leader Miss 8202, the lead off female in our 2020 pen. Sired by TH Masterplan 183F she comes with plenty of bone, body, and power. The longer we’ve had her on feed, the better she’s gotten. Not to mention, she ranks in the top 20% of the breed for WW EPD and the top 10% for YW. She’s got a quiet disposition and is sure to make a good cow. Her dam has consistently bred back AI, and this female is headed down the same path. Bred AI to GO King E33 and due to calve on April 16, 2023.

OF PEN OF HEIFERS
These three heifers represent some of the very best to walk in Carson Valley, NV. These three sisters are out of one of the top producing donor dams at Genoa Livestock, 5047. This MDF 10Y daughter has produced top sellers in each of Genoa’s past three sales, and she is unmatched in terms of her overall volume, depth, spring of rib, and natural fleshing ability. A can’t miss producer, she has posted progeny ratios of 5@99 for BW, 5@108 for WW, 4@106 for YW, 17@107 for REA and a whopping 17@115 for IMF!
The first two in this pen are one of the first chances to purchase daughters of the exciting young herd sire, Key West. Key West is out of a first calf heifer that went straight to the donor pen at Colyer Herefords. With his huge spread from calving ease to weaning weight coupled with his strong carcass numbers, the buzz around Key West progeny has been huge. The two Key West sisters here have excellent growth, maternal and carcass numbers with very balanced calving ease.
The third heifer in the Genoa pen is sired by possibly the most talked about bull in the breed, Genesis. His progeny commanded top dollar coast to coast in 2022 and does not appear to slow down in 2023. The 2160 heifer is elite in her growth and marbling EPDs.
Genoa is retaining two (2) flushes with a minimum of six (6) embryos to be conducted at their expense and the buyer’s convenience. Videos of this offering can be viewed at GenoaLivestock.com

We are really proud to offer you pick of these 5 heifers in a sale of this caliber. They are the kind we strive to produce every day. They have the goods to compete but most importantly they have the DNA and data behind them to go out and be a front pasture cow. One thing we’re especially proud of with these heifers is they are a true representation of our program. They are all natural born calves out of our top producing, highest ratioing cows. Hard to write footnotes on each one as they are all outstanding in their own way. Stop by the pen and take a look. We’re pretty confident you won’t be disappointed. Females from this herd have gone on to be pretty good investments for their new owners, and this could be the best yet!

HILLS GALORE CHOICE OF PEN OF HEIFERS
It has been our quest and challenge to maintain genetic diversity. We have stayed away from the popular pedigrees to produce outcross genetics that can be used in just about all Hereford programs. We are really excited about the progeny of Hills-Galore 84C Trigger 63G, as his sons and daughters are easily rising to the forefront of our program.
The dams of these three heifers are some of the top females in our herd with lots of length, depth, shape and dimension. They are all sired by JB 531 BRAXTON CAL 605C, a bull who is found in well over 125 daughters and granddaughters in production at Hills Galore – there is no doubt of his genetic value in our program. Cal’s dam is sired by Hills-Galore Voodoo 39L, a bull that Jack & Bev Beeson purchased out of our Denver pen in 2002.
The 3 heifer calves were raised in Southwest Saskatchewan in harsh drought conditions without creep feed. They are all stamped the same – sound in their structure, loaded with style and natural thickness, added rib and impressive do ability.
While any of these girls could be competitive in a show ring, this pen of heifers has been bred, selected and developed to be first and foremost cows that will contribute to anyone’s breeding program. Whichever your choice is sale day, we are sure you won’t be disappointed.

The National Western is steeped in legacy and tradition, and what better display of that than a young man’s first consignment in the Denver Hereford Sale! Haxton Hoffman has brought three ultra-fancy ET sisters that all have futures at the backdrop. Sired by the 2020 NWSS Grand Champion Polled Bull, H The Profit 8426 ET, was a top seller in the 2019 Hoffman Ranch Spring Bull Sale. Out of the powerhouse dam of National Champion bulls, H Deberard 7454 ET and H Montgomery 7437 ET, progeny of The Profit have been in huge demand the past couple of years. The dam of these ET sisters consists of multiple banner winners as well. Their dam was Division 3 Polled Champion at the 2019 JNHE and the maternal grandam won reserve division at both the 2018 NWSS and 2017 JNHE. These three girls are consistent in their type and kind and are going to make May divisions incredibly difficult all across the land!

We’re pretty excited about these girls’ future! On the dam side, the 202K heifer is out of the dam of our 2022 Champion Pen of Heifers, KOLT TOO TIMING 3308. This Harley cow has been one of the most consistent performing cows we’ve ever had on our place. 201K is out of a super stylish, high producing Mighty donor cow that has been a can’t miss for us for several years. Our third heifer in the pen is a natural born heifer out of a Ron Schutte cow that has, again done an excellent job here on the ranch. Either way you choose, these three April born heifers are destined for the backdrop!
• These next two full sisters are out of a full sib to Cottonwood, and one of Wilson Farms top donor cows, Cotton’s Journey. She was named the Division VII Champion Polled Female at the 2019 JNHE. In addition, she’s already off to a tremendous start as a dam of champions as her first calf, KCW COTTON’S YELLOWSTONE 220H was named the 2021 Grand Champion Bull at the Iowa State Fair and he’s already created a lot of excitement in semen sales. • The sire of Indie & Charlotte is a proven sire to numerous steer champions, with an outcross pedigree. In addition to Kutter’s success siring steers, he’s no slouch on the show heifer front as he’s the sire of MAV COTTONS BLESSING 221Z, a past Supreme Champion at the IA State Fair, and the dam of the 2022 IA State Fair Grand Champion Polled Heifer. Either way you choose, all three of these great prospects are royally bred and destined for the backdrop.
