Breeding Polled Herefords for more than half a century

12:00 PM CDT on Labor Day in Bradyville, TN
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to our sale.
Many of you know several changes have taken place over the last three years. We have experienced some highs and lows, as I know everyone else has as well. One of the changes I am most proud of is how much better our cattle are. We always try to make each calf crop an improvement over the previous crop, and I feel this is evident from the selection we have for you in this year’s sale. The bulls we are using have great phenotype and EPDs. We are very proud of this year’s offering.
Another change since our last sale is the change in leadership around the farm. Due to some health issues, the next generation has stepped into new roles and are taking on more responsibility. Under my guidance, I look to strengthen our herd and genetics, as Hereford roots run deep in this family farm.
Finally, I would be remiss without recognizing the sales staff change for the ‘Go with the Best 2024 Sale’. Jack Hederick, my friend since childhood, has been a part of our sale staff for many years. Jack’s leadership has been valued and appreciated. Much appreciation to Jack and his family for our success throughout the years.
We would also like to recognize Jim Reed, Don Birk, Robert Brooks, Tommy Coley, and many others that have supported our Hereford venture. Thank you all for supporting us for many years.
We extend a special invitation to you all to our ‘Go with the Best 2024 Sale’ on Labor Day. Please make plans to view the cattle on Sunday, September 1, 2024. A beef dinner will follow the viewing, to begin at 6 p.m.
We would also like to encourage you to attend Walker Herefords ‘Foundations for the Future ’24’ Sale on September 7, 2024. The Walker Family are great friends, and we have shared Labor Day sales for many years.
In closing, Parker Bros. will continue to strive to produce functional cattle, with good EPDs, udder quality and disposition. We look forward to seeing you down on the farm Labor Day.
Sincerely,
David & Paula Parker

Parker Bros. — Rich in history with a deep respect for our country.
After breeding Polled Herefords for more than half a century, we at Parker Brothers still feel the same excitement and anticipation about a new calf crop as we did about our first two calves when we started years ago. In 1942, Kenneth and Houston Parker purchased their first two registered polled Hereford heifers. In 1959, they purchased a herd sire, CEK Perfect Mixer at the National Polled Hereford Sale and Show in Shreveport, La. From those humble origins, Parker Brothers has established one of the most respected and longest continuing polled Hereford programs in the south. Rather than following fads, the goal at Parker Brothers has always been consistency in production, breeding and quality. In our breeding program we try to incorporate proven AI sires and dams. We use sires that will improve our milk, weaning, intra-muscular fat and ribeye area. With new advancements in technology we are successfully flushing the best of the herd. We continue to change to improve the beef cattle industry. Parker Brothers held their first production sale in 1966 and regularly holds a “Go with the Best” production sale every three years. Through the years, the Parker Brothers have actively promoted the beef industry by serving as President and Director of the Cumberland Beef Breeders Association; Organizer, Director and President of the Mid-State Livestock Producers Association; President and Director of the Middle Tennessee Polled Hereford Association and Director and Chairman of the Board of the American Polled Hereford Association. The Parkers were named as Tennessee Family of the Year by the Tennessee Polled Hereford Association. Parker Bros. began with Houston and Kenneth and their spouses Lyda and Delois Parker. Son David, (Paula) and their family, of founding Brother Kenneth Parker begins a new era at Parker Brothers. David is still making strides in the industry by winning Tennessee Cow-Calf Producer of the year in 2013.
The Parker Family has started a new venture by marketing their steers locally and selling them as farm fresh beef in Middle Tennessee. Parker Family Farms Beef is available to purchase directly from the farm or at local markets. This is the reason that our bull quality is outstanding, because only the best of the best remains as breeding stock. Parker Brothers will continue to maintain its breeding program through the interest of second, third, fourth and fifth generations of the Parker Family.
