Dear Cattlemen,

Welcome to the 9th annual Sidwell Ranch and Frank Herefords Bull Sale. We are again excited to offer a set of bulls from both ranches that stand by our three “P” philosophy … Performance, Precision, and Productivity. Whether your cattle graze on the plains, dryland range, irrigated meadows, or at the base of the mountains, both ranches feel we are offering a set of yearling, long yearling Hereford bulls that will work for the registered and commercial cattleman alike. We have listened to our previous customers and we have not pushed or added extra polish to this year’s offering. They were raised on native grass that was extra lush last summer and fall and developed on a 13% high roughage grower ration. This set is currently some of our favorite bulls that we have offered to date. If you are basing your selection around maternal, carcass, or baldy influence traits, we have your bases covered. In addition to the registered bulls, we are also offering a few crossbreds, to provide our customers with some additional genetic flexibility. We will have both polled and horned genetics that were bred specifically for your needs. As you flip through the catalog, you will find multiple paternal sibs being offered to increase consistency of the end goal … your calf crop.

As of February, the cattle business is bright. The U.S. beef cow inventory is the lowest since 1951. With the projected fall calf prices on the rise, 2025 presents a unique opportunity to salvage some older bulls that are past their prime and replace them with younger, higher performing bulls, with more future, longevity, and fresher genetics.

In most cases, the dams and grandams of these bulls are still in production in both herds. We stress longevity, functionality, and soundness coupled with performance and the “front pasture” cow that you can enjoy looking at on each trip across the range. We hope that you’ll look through the offering, scrutinize their pedigrees, examine their genetic profiles, give us a call with questions, or stop by the ranch for your personal inspection. We hope to see you March 31st at the Sidwell Sale barn in Columbus, MT. A smoked brisket catered lunch with all the trimmings will be served at noon, with the sale starting at 1:00pm.

This will be a video auction. Terms of the sale are cash unless other arrangements are made before the sale. All animals will be penned outside. All animals will sell to the highest bidder with the auctioneer settling any disputes as to bids. Announced changes in catalog information will take precedence over any printed material in catalog. The animals become the property of the highest bidder as soon as sold and will be cared for up to April 15th, at buyer’s risk.

Breeding Guarantee:

All bulls will be guaranteed through the first 60 days of breeding season. If an injury or loss occurs, the buyer will receive 50% of the value of the injured bull, minus any salvage value, in a future sale or towards a replacement bull if one is available.

Pedigree:

All registered animals in the sale are clean of any genetic defects to the best of our knowledge. All potential genetic defect carriers have been DNA tested and will have a profile on file with the AHA.

Liability:

All persons attending the sale and related functions do so at their own risk. Sidwell Ranch/Frank Herefords assume no liability, legal or otherwise, for any accidents or injuries that may occur.

Retained Ownerships:

We will retain a percentage of several of the bulls. Terms will be announced sale day.

Any person unable to attend can place a bid through Richard or Austin or any of the listed sale representatives.

Delivery:

Free delivery on 3 or more bulls regardless of distance. All single bull purchases will be delivered to a central location. For Canadian buyers, we will deliver to the nearest point of entry.

This yearling bull offers a nice amount of bone, a solid foot, plus he comes out of a 7-year-old cow with a near perfect udder.
