ThereisadifferenceindesireversusloveDesireisaverystrongwantorlongingwhenloveisa tenderfeelingofaffectionandcompassion.Themeninthesetwostoriesexpressthese.Themenin Lysistratashowmuchmoreofadesirefortheirwomanratherthanlovetowardsthem.Theyseemto onlywantthemforsexasCinesiasstates,"Ijustwanttoscrew"(Ii1030)toMyrrhine,hiswife, whorefusestobreakheroathtothewomanandhavesexwithherhusband.Herloveforpeaceis strongerthanherdesireforherhusbandwhileherhusband'sdesireforsexisstrongerthanhislove forhiswifeorhewouldrespectherdecisionandunderstandhercause.
