Island of the Blue dolphins Have you ever wanted to own your own island? Have you ever met someone and thought to yourself, we will never be friends? Well , this story might change your mind. Island of the Blue Dolphins was written by Scott O'Dell. It was published in 1960. This book is based on a true story, but it's not all factual. Island of the blue dolphins is about a girl named Karana that is living with her tribe on an island off of a coast during the mid 1800's. The tribe decides to migrate to the mainland and she stays to save her younger brother that has accidentally been left behind, only to find that he has been killed by wild dogs. karana took a positive action and pushed through and made herself better. Another was when life gets rocky you need to learn to be able to rely on your friends. Karana was able to do this with Rontu he was always watching over her and making sure she was safe. The book, Island of the blue dolphins helps us understand that pushing through to the end is an important key to life, also that friends can help you through your trials in life. One of karanas biggest problems was overcoming herself. She really wanted to just quit sometimes, but she learned that she has more in her. She also came to realize that she was doing bad with her mental and physical health, so she started to make an effort to survive. Another important character was Rontu. Later in the story her brother dies by a dog, she finds the dog and wounded it." Well, she took the dog home, and started to watch out for it,She watched over him while he recovered and soon enough she found that she was gaining a bond with this dog.
