Definition Essay: What Is A Friend?
What is a Friend? Who do you consider your friends? For me, a friend is someone who makes you laugh, they're nice, you can joke around with this person, and it's very easy to tell them anything because you trust them. If I talk to someone occasionally, and we're nice to each other but we never get into weird and funny conversations that later on leads to inside jokes, I wouldn't consider them a friend. All of the people I consider my friends are people who just bring joy to me. One common experience I have had with all my friends is laughing for a very long time non–stop until our stomachs hurt. For example, once I was skyping with two of my friends, Kim and Cortes. Cortes saw a post on Twitter that said "I hate it when teachers coffin skate...show more content...
For me, I unfortunately do not excel in anything and I blend in with the crowd. Being great at something brings you praise and attention which is a good thing because people will look up to you. In addition, it could also help you stick out when it's time to apply to a college. They'll look at your classes and see you were a top student for one of them, or look at one of the extracurricular activities you were a part of and see you contributed a lot and were very important and praised by the other members. For example, if you're into sports and you're the star athlete of your team, not only will you win awards from your school and be well–known by nearly every student, you might also get recruited by a college. What this means is the college will ask for you to join, since they want you on their team. If you're a part of a school organization that's also very beneficial. You gain skills that will be very important in the future. You'll build leadership skills and confidence. If you stick with this organization for a very long time during school, that's also a good thing colleges look for and it increases your chances of being

How to define yourself?
Defining oneself is the difficult part of our life but we might think our outer appearances will define who we are, or our dress up and makeup will tell them how we look like. We want to prettify our face shining and want to wear the beautiful dresses in order to have the better pictures. We also want to eat less in order to have the better body size to be seen prettier in other's eyes. That's is how we visualize and define ourselves. In general understanding we want to be good and perfect in other eyes, we need appreciation and expect always their positive feedback but life doesn't come to be true what we have been thinking.

She cried a lot but started to gain the strength standing herself in front of the mirror. What is Intelligence?
Intelligence can be defined in many different ways since there are a variety of individual differences. Intelligence to me is the ability to reason and respond quickly yet accurately in all aspects of life, such as physically, emotionally, and mentally. Anyone can define intelligence because it is an open–ended word that has much room for interpretation. Thus my paper is an attempt to find the meaning of human intelligence. There are a couple of scientists who have tried to come up with theories of what makes a human being intelligent.
Jean Piaget, a Swiss child psychologist, is well known for his four stages of mental growth theory (1). In the sensorimotor stage, from birth to age 2, the child is concerned...show more content...
(3)

Even though Jean Piaget's theory was interesting, I found Howard Gardener's, a psychologist at Harvard University, theory even more intriguing. He arranged human intelligence into seven sections and they are body–kinesthetic, interpersonal, intrapersonal, linguistic, logical–mathematical, musical, and spatial intelligence. Gardner believes that everyone has a mixture of all the categories varying at different levels. We can see a couple of intelligences that stand out in people we know and including ourselves. (2)
For example, as a math major, I would consider the logical–mathematical intelligence to be more predominant than my linguistic intelligence based on the name of the categories. In fact, Gardner characterizes the logistical–mathematical intelligence as people who think logically and are able to transfer abstract concepts to reality. These people enjoy solving puzzles and can be good inventors because they can visualize an invention even before making a prototype (2). They normally do better in school, which is for the most part due to the fact that schools are designed for logical–mathematical type of thinkers.
The linguistic type, as you may have guessed, are the natural born writers and poets. They usually have excellent storytelling skills, spelling skills, and love to play with words. They tend to be bookworms and can easily learn more than one language. Best form of learning is through

Personal success is defined by how content and enjoyable your life is. That is not to say that challenges and disappointments aren't included in this. Past, present and future are all important to keep in perspective. Looking back and not having regrets is extremely satisfying. Your current situation and your contentment with it are also very important, and having goals and milestones to work toward in the future keeps you motivated and keeps life interesting and challenging.
In this age in which we live, success is generally measured by the amount of money you earn, or the amount of wealth or power or number of promotions you've accumulated. I find that the older I grow, the more I view the people who are most happy and content with their lives as the most successful. Rich, poor or in between, they've tended to treat life as a journey, not a final destination. They took that trip when they were 25 even though they really couldn't afford it, they ordered the $55 bottle of wine with their filet because they knew that even though it was expensive it would enhance the meal so much more than water would. They took a chance on a start–up company, moved to Europe or Asia and experienced things that most people only dream about. If they managed to grow wealthy from the experience, so much the better. As long as moderation with most things is practiced, things won't spin out of control.

While fear is based on a specific threat and is relatively short, anxiety has no definite basis and often prolonged. We all experienceanxiety at some level. Students feel anxious when taking an exam. You may feel apprehensive about going out on a blind date. Many people are scared of delivering a speech. Many situations in everyday life evoke anxiety. The individual loses control and feels overwhelmed with anxiety to such extent as losing his or her job and developing relationship problems. Cause of Anxiety Anxiety is caused by physical and psychological factors. Medical conditions such as heart problems, lung diseases (e.g. COPD or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) and thyroid conditions can cause anxiety. Medications like corticosteroids and drugs such as cocaine and amphetamine can also trigger anxiety. On the other hand, anxiety can be caused by stressful situations, traumatic experience and learned behavior (children can learn negative attitudes and maladaptive behaviors from their parents). For example, victims of a terrorist attack or a tornado disaster are so traumatized by the experience that they later develop symptoms of anxiety. Some people are more vulnerable compared to others in developing anxiety based on their genes, upbringing and life experiences. These people are more likely to develop anxiety disorders. Triggers expose their inherent predisposition to having anxiety. Types of Anxiety Disorders Experts have differentiated the kinds of mental disorders that arise from anxiety. Phobias are excessivefear of specific objects or events (e.g. fear of heights, fear of spiders). How Do You Define Survival

Sustaining life, improving life, living until rescued, all can be the definition of survival. How well and for how long depends on you, your preps and other factors. At some point in history, a wise survivalist said this "Who gets eaten and who gets to eat." "Thus, survival is the act of continuing to live, usually when others fail".
Survival: to live or exist, typically in spite of an accident, ordeal, or difficult circumstances. Some people, a small percentage probably assume that life during a crisis will be relatively the same as their daily lives are now. The possibility is not very likely, and this is in spite of your preparations. There is more to survival than having food and water stockpiled. The necessities...show more content...
This is predicting future threats based on intelligence gathered in real time at the moment. You look for indicators of future events, but it takes situational awareness. You have to practice this every day, all day. Some believe that they can handle things as they come up, planning is not needed because they can think on their feet. This is fine when the boss calls you into their office for an impromptu meeting about some project. You can spew facts and figures, but how did you gain those facts and figures, well, you are not really "winging" it or thinking on your feet because you had prior knowledge and skills. Do not assume you can manage any crisis as the events unfold, because what happens if you cannot. If you meet a bear on the trail, you can't wing it, you need to know what to do, it will not come to you in the moment, you need to know what to do before it happens. You need to know the possible threats before setting out so you can be prepared. The basics include having enough, water, having a shelter, and a food source during a crisis. Enough to sustain you for the duration, and then you need the skills sets and knowledge to survive for an extended period, to sustain life
Trust is not what we think it is. Trust is the feeling that you feel inside yourself. Trust is not given out easily and it's something that is earned. You can earn someone's trust by what you speak and what your actions show. There are three different types of trust: trust in family, trust in a love one or boyfriend, and trust in friends. Trusting in your family is the most important because your family has always been there for us. We have deep trust in family because they have taken care of us. Trust in a love one or boyfriend because we confide in them with personal issues.
Trusting in your friends you learn about each other's deepest secrets, but not trusting each other at first. I made so many mistakes of trusting people, I would have never thought that my friends would hurt me and take everything away from me in the matter of three months. This is one of those typical situations where the good person gets taken advantage of; and my life will never be close to being the same again....show more content...

What is the Definition of a Hero?

When one thinks of heroes, names such as Ghandi, Martin Luther King, and Mother Theresa often come to mind. These people had done a lot of favors, courage, helps, and more of things for the people who needed them. The true definition of hero is a man of distinguished valor. Bravery, courage, intrepidity, boldness, daring, and prowess in war are ahero's characteristics. However a hero is understood to be different to everyone. Upon closer examination, many different qualities than these become apparent. The definition of heroism changes with the context and time. Heroes of the past are not necessarily heroes of present time and vise versa. A person can be a hero for saving the life of one or of millions....show more content...
Some individuals living in poverty with a determination to succeed work hard all of their lives to become what everybody doubted they could. Despite of their financial problems, drug and crime surroundings, or difficulties in the language skills, their desire to triumph fuels their persistence. Those who make it to success are the few living examples of the purest form of hero anyone can be. They are not only their own heroes but also the heroes of the poor children who dream of becoming like them someday.
Anyone who influences anyone else by saving or helping save his or her lives can be a hero. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. changed the lives of millions of people by bringing justice to minorities. Mahatma Gandhi, one of the greatest heroes, led a nonviolent revolution to free his country. Even a parent can be a hero to his or her child by leading them in the right direction. All teachers are heroes when they make it their job to teach a child anything that will help them in life. You don't have to go to great lengths by risking your life to make a difference in someone else's life.
There is no discretion to become a hero. The perfect hero is one who will defy the odds. One who will do the morally correct thing no matter how hard it is. A true hero won't let you down. A hero will give you opportunity to worship him without regret. The hero presents himself when given the chance, yet
Many of the words in the English dictionary have different meanings, for example the word beauty. If we were to question fifty people on the definition, all fifty responses would be slightly different. People usually think of beauty as physical appearance, but if we really think about beauty in depth, we realize that the word has a more extensive meaning than just physical appearance. Beauty is based on a personal opinion. There isn't a person or object that defines beauty, because it's strictly based on opinion. Something that someone would describe as beautiful, another person might not agree. Beauty is one's personal admiration on an object or person. What is happiness? People have agonized over this question for centuries. Let me start this essay by answering a somewhat easier question: what isn't happiness? Happiness is NOT feeling good all the time. Happiness is a combination of human emotions and states of mind. Exploring this state of being has consumed the philosophical minds of the ages and will continue to do so for ages to come.
In an unofficial poll of students at State University, I found that of the fifty–eight students and one professor, males and females of several ethnic backgrounds and age groups, that I asked the question "What is happiness to you?", all of them had very different physical, intellectual, or emotional motivator for their happiness. But these supplementary explanations do not affect the theory of life on which this theory of morality is grounded namely, that pleasure, and freedom from pain, are the only things desirable as ends; and that all desirable things (which are as numerous in the utilitarian as in any other scheme) are desirable either for the pleasure inherent in themselves, or as means to the promotion of pleasure and the prevention of pain. (Pojman 917)
Mill seems to think that happiness comes from the desire to be completely pain–free. He says that happiness comes from selfishly fulfilled desires. The desire to attain only pleasure is ludicrous; for a person to achieve a completely pain–free existence is impossible. To gain complete happiness would leave them with no motivation to achieve anything else. Human nature is such that if a person achieved pure happiness, that person would then become dissatisfied with that happiness, causing them to, once again, be unhappy. A person will always experience something contrary to pleasure, leaving them with some type of pain.
In my opinion, people seem to be happy for many different reasons at different times in their lives. I

Love, Love, Love. We all think about it, dream about it, sing about it, and even lose sleep worrying about it, but why? Love is such a small word paired with a vital meaning. It's universal, easy to spell, difficult to define, but impossible to live without. When we don't have it, we search for it, when we find it, we don't know what to do with it, when we have it, we fear losing it. Love is the constant source of happiness and sorrow. I am young and I haven't a clue as to what love is, let alone what falling in love is. However, I have my ideas of what love is like. I think falling in love with someone happens when you least expect it to, when you're too busy focusing on other aspects of your life. This is where fate comes into play. That specific person was led to you for some unknown reason. Out of the blues, it's like your knight in shining amour that you have longed to be with finally found his/her way to you. There are people in this world that think they may never fall in love again. You fall at times, but you get back up. You will love again, and you will also trust again. You have to simply let things get themselves done, that's when you know it's meant to be, because destiny took its course, and while you were too busy doing something else, the love of your life came along.
Love dates way back to when the world began. In reality, we really have no idea what love truly is. Raising questions like, is it even real? We watch love movies, read romance novels, but that's the sugar–coated, sweet and simple version of it. Meeting someone, fall in love, get married, have kids, spend the rest of your lives together. What about the suffering we have to endure when falling in love? Risking everything for that one person? And even when we feel we've reached the end of the road, this person has the power to leave us at any given moment. We put ourselves out there with the chance they can break us apart.

Definitions of health
It is fairly difficult to define health as there are no agreements between scholars. This is why many sociologists focus their research on the different issues and problems of ill health.
Positive definition of health: positive health looks at the physical, emotional, intellectual aspects of a person's wellbeing. This is in the way that they do not have any diseases or ailments.
An example of the positive definition of health in a health and social care is a nurse in who is working in a hospital can say to one of their patients that have recently started exercising to become more 'healthier' 'you look very healthy'.

An example of holistic health could be that a psychologist's client may have bipolar disorder and the psychologist would still focus on all of the other aspects of their client's life and not just on the symptoms the client is experiencing of bipolar disorder. World Health Organisation definition of health: the World Health Organisation defines health as "not merely an absence of disease, but a state of complete physical, mental, spiritual and social well–being."
(2013 K Pritchett Class Notes)
An example of health defined by the World Health Organisation in a health and social care setting could be that in order for a patient of a doctors surgery to be healthy they would have to have a complete state of physical, mental, spiritual and social well–being. This means that if a patient was in a wheel chair they could never be seen as healthy as they do not have a complete state of physical well–being. The World Health Organisation thinks that people must have all complete aspects to be completely healthy.
