Small But Mighty SARATOGA SPRINGS – This Saturday, November 30, a new tradition continues as
Small Business Saturday will be celebrated. Whether it’s as simple as your favorite mom and pop production or what you consider to be the best corner store in town do not hesitate to step out and help bring recognition to all the local businesses that are the engine of our economy. Small businesses, which are built on the foundation of customer service, will themselves receive special
recognition for all they do to ensure that our neighborhood retains a unique hometown atmosphere. Originally founded back in 2010 by American Express, Small Business Saturday has grown tremendously since. It was designed to develop a counterpoint to both Black Friday and cyber Monday, which are traditional shopping days for big box megastores and internet sites, respectively. More and more businesses continue to participate and most have special deals in honor of this day. This year, Saratoga Springs will be making Small Business Saturday special at the City Center with the 38 th Annual Saratoga Craft Marketplace (see story page 30). Attendance to the event is heavily encouraged as all profits will be donated straight to the Saratoga Center for the Family to put an end to the cruelties of child abuse and their other valuable programs. The artists and the work that is on display exemplify perfectly what Small Business Saturday is all about. Individualism, craftsmanship and creativity are the order of the day. -Andrea Barry
