BWGS-CA (888) 600-8520 BWGS-OR (888) 316-1868

Propelled by increasing demand and growing popularity for hydroponics products, BWGS launched in 1995 with the construction of a 17,000 sq ft warehouse facility in Bloomington, Indiana. In 2005, BWGS premiered in Visalia, California to accommodate Pacific and Mountain-region indoor garden retailers. Beginning in early 2009, BWGS opened a new east coast distribution center in Charlotte, North Carolina, taking advantage of Charlotte’s infrastructure and skilled workforce to shorten delivery times to customers all along the East Coast. In order to strengthen its presence in the western United States, the company opened its fourth distribution center, BWGS-CO, in Denver, Colorado in 2010 and its fifth, BWGS-OR, in Portland, Oregon in 2011. Currently one of the largest suppliers of year-round gardening supplies in the nation, BWGS specializes in one-stop shopping. Customers can order inventory and arrange shipping simultaneously via the popular dealer price list. For an added convenience, BWGS’s online presence opened for business in 1998 at bwgs.com. The site offers secure credit card management, offline and online order uploading and saved order capability to facilitate recurring needs. To give year-round garden suppliers an extra advantage, BWGS offers Gardener’s Digest, a full-color print piece, created to enable retailers to supplement their product offerings without additional overhead. Gardener’s Digest includes thousands of products listing manufacturer’s suggested retail and detailed product information. The Gardener’s Digest website, gardenersdigest.com, debuted in 2006 and offers a supportive online presence where visitors can view and download the most up-to-date version of the entire catalog.

Hydro for Hunger

hydroforhunger.org What is Hydro for Hunger? Hydro for Hunger is a dedicated fundraising initiative that began in 2002 to raise awareness about global food shortage issues and the vital humanitarian efforts of the Institute of Simplified Hydroponics. The Institute of Simplified Hydroponics is a 501-C (3) not-for-profit and the sole beneficiary of the Hydro for Hunger initiative. Utilizing on-site instruction and interactive training programs, the Institute educates in-need communities around the world to become self-sufficient using fundamental hydroponic gardening methods. With the help of independent hydroponic manufacturers, merchants and hobbyists, Hydro for Hunger has raised more than $300,000 to date. This funding has enabled the training and education necessary to successfully implement productive hydroponic programs in areas like Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, Venezuela, India and Mexico.

Why hydroponics? When compared to conventional soil gardening methods, hydroponics can produce up to six times the food with five percent of the water in less than one third of the space. Hydroponic systems recycle valuable water and nutrients. Because hydroponic plants can readily access the nutrient-rich solution, they exhibit accelerated growth rates. As a result, hydroponic microgardens are a viable long-term food production solution in areas where water and arable land are scarce and demand often outstrips supply.
