Hannah Lipsey

Somebunny

63cm x 89cm (Framed)

Coloured Pencil

£4,500

Hannah has always been fascinated by hyperrealism which can make the viewer wonder if what they are looking at is a piece of art or a photograph. Further to this, the way light and dark values can be as or more important than detail in creating the illusion of realism. Especially when it comes to reflective objects, the contrast between light and dark values is what gives that illusion of shine.

Jenny Wheatley

Shall we Stroll on the Beach?

91cm x 71cm (Framed)

Acrylic

£4,200

Jenny’s work is based around her love of colour, influenced by her many travels to India, Cuba, the Pacific, Cyprus and Europe. In the early years, Jenny painted solely from direct observation in situ, but recently works more and more in the studio from the drawings and paintings she does while travelling. These paintings are a summation of the sense of place and reactions to her travels and environment.

The Arrival

60cm x 46cm (Framed)

Acrylic

£685

In Katarzyna’s own words: ‘I paint distant views of a landscape peppered with buildings. Water or valleys may divide the dwellings yet they are all connected by the echoing shapes and restful hues of my palette. A foreground detailed with wild flowers accentuates the perspective planes and graphic lines suggest paths and boundaries.”

Ruby Lewis

Precariously Balanced, we Contemplate the 78cm x 98cm Oil on Vintage Fabric

£1,550

In myth, everything begins with a story. Ruby Lewis’ work draws from ancient allegory while also exploring the role women have today and through-out the history of storytelling. Acknowledging this within the symbolic representation of the painting while visualising the potential for transformation. Placing goddess like figures contained in interior settings that reflect our diversity while evoking a dream like ambiguity.

“I don’t like being limited to just one medium, I work on several pieces at once until something is complete. I am driven by the feeling that my next piece of work will be my finest, but when I reflect on my work over the past forty years I’ve found it’s the idea in conjunction with the making that completes the experience.” – Giles Penny

‘I make sculptures using realistic ceramic representations of ice cream, cakes and other sweet foods as a basis to tell a story or to build a fantasy around food. It is the juxtaposition of temporary ice cream and permanent ceramic that inspire me to produce one in the other. To solidify a fleeting, melting moment and highlight a relationship between the soft and the solid.” - Anna Barlow

Gail Altschuler

On The Run

32cm x 32cm Ceramic £345

The idiosyncratic scalloped or ornamental edges on the handmade plates and accentuated feet and necks of the vessels, are weighed with the attention Gail gives to their surfaces. Sharp and blurry lines, Mishima inlay, etching techniques combined with graffito and underglaze washes. They have a transparent glaze layer to highlight the etched, drawn and observed stories that Gail shares with her audience.

Phil Lyddon

Small Bottles

12cm Approx Ceramic

£70

Phil’s porcelain and white stoneware bowls and bottles are exclusively hand thrown. Because of the small size of the bowls, they are often thrown ‘off the hump’, which involves throwing up to nine or ten bowls from the top of a one-kilogram cone of stoneware or porcelain. He throws then alters the pots while they are still malleable, which increases the organic qualities of the work.
